I live in Tennessee, and for my parents 40th wedding anniversary, we sent them on a rail/coach tour of BC, and Alberta. The photos they brought back were unbelievably beautiful.
Mike, you're a life saver. I found you on RUclips just before my surgery yesterday. I'm binge watching your channel. Now seeing Canada is on my bucket list. Thank you
I'm blessed to live in Calgary, It's an hour away from the Rockies, I get to visit the Rockies on a regular basis, My favorite place is Moraine Lake. I never get tired looking at this majestic, pristine place.
It's heartbreaking to see glaciers disappear. I walked on a vast glacier at mt. Rainer in Washington State, USA as a child of 5. Now 64 years later it is completely gone. Those clear lakes and breathtaking mountains of Banff are true treasures! How wise of the Canadian government to see that many years ago and preserve these as pristine parks.
Saw and rode Columbia Icefields in 1969. Right along the highway. Travelled there about 7 years ago, and it was miles away from the melting. Kind of sad.
that's what happens when their was climate change however it doesn't mean that they will all go away sense will stop climate change at some point don't worry man one day will go back to it was while obviously not in our life times Im sure once people get their stuff together I'm sure it will look amazing as it once was in your time man
My daughter and I visited Canada several times but our visit to Banff and Jasper was by far our favorite trip. The combination of the mountains and the wildlife we saw was just awesome. Love the people too!!
My family is German/Canadian, and I'm American. Grandparent's are German, moved to Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta and had my mom and two aunts. They moved to Ohio in the 80's. They have green cards. Growing up, I traveled all over Canada. I absolutely love every inch. I JUST found your channel. I can already see this is an amazing channel. Look forward to watching you and your adventures. Much love from Ohio, 🇺🇸 ❤.
Thank you so much, Mike, for sharing this. I am from Australia, and love Canada. I have been to Canada 8 times, visiting Banff National Park on 3 of those occasions. I have seen it in February, May and August, and loved it even more every time I visit. While I am unable to travel because of Covid at present, your video has brought back many wonderful memories, and taken me off the beaten track to places I have yet to experience, Thanks again for your amazing videos.
It is quite interesting that probably your best traveling content (quality of editing work, camera work, overall feel from the video) is from traveling your own country. Traveling with friends and family in your own homeland adds something "real" to the videos. Keep up the good content Mike. Thanks for the videos.
It's so refreshing to see a family that loves spending time together, not to mention seeing some incredible country panoramas...one of your most enjoyable videos yet, Mike. I can't wait for next week!
Its been years since I was in Banff and Jasper. I am 50 now and probably there when I was 10 or 12. Those parks were so majestic. We went to the Columbia Ice fields. At that time they let us drink from the streams that were running out of certain places. Probably not today. I hope I can go back one day. Love the mountains!! Thank you for sharing!!
Lovely video..thank you very much. I used to live in Vancouver 20 years ago and have traveled all over BC and Alberta. The nature is absolutely amazing over there with so many fresh water lakes, rivers, and high mountains. Your video has made me feel so nostalgic. I moved to Montreal many years ago and have traveled parts of the Atlantic east coast from the Gaspé peninsula to the New Brunswick and the Prince Edward Island. Canada is beautiful and diverse wherever you go!!
Love your vlogs! Banff is in our backyard where we have lived for over 40 years! We have seen much of what you saw but there are still places we haven’t visited! Thank you for reminding us again how fortunate we are to live where we do!
Thanks for taking me back to places I have visited in Canada including Banff and Jasper. Being 78 with type 2 diabetes, I am thrilled to check out your adventures every week as a break from my self isolating for six months now. Although I do get out some now, I still avoid all group activities and sadly, travel. Whenever we conquer Covid-19, I invite you to visit us in Nashville and all Tennessee.
I lived in Banff for a year back in the early 80s. Great to see it again! Yoho, Jasper and Kananaskis were my favorite parks... and the Black Forest Cake at the Banff Springs Hotel. Yum!
I’ve been asked how we are in our daily life by American friends online who haven’t been here. They always say how easy going I am, how friendly and seemingly happy with everything that’s going on in the world. Keeping in mind their terrible situation right now. So, I’ve been using my videos of hiking Pacific Rim Trail and your videos to help them. Your videos have many of my American friends really loving your life view and energy. They like me too, but you’re videos are way better and more professional. So I want to say thank you for being here and keep our way of life alive and well❤️
I have been binge watching your videos of Canada sir and they are not only picturesque but positive. The country is beautiful and the people are warm (even when they are frozen, eyes to thighs, lips to hips, nose to toes, tum to bum etc) Thank you. Blessings and peace sir
THIS WAS INCREDIBLE!! High-five to the "making snacks on your car" club! I went to Banff and Jasper last month too, and we were making guac on the hood of the car! Love the storytelling way you captured all these beautiful scenic views, absolutely AMAZING!!
The greatest things in life are free...a flower in bloom...a joy to see...the trickle of a crystal stream...a sunny day...a time to dream...the cuckoos call and curlews cry...rolling hills that touch the sky...majestic mountains...capped with snow...oceans tides that ebb and flow...the beauty of the star at night...butterflies in endless flight...many things that bring us pleasure...gifts from heaven to love and treasure...💖
These videos of Canada are making me green with envy! I visited Banff and Jasper back in 2003 or 2004 and I would go back in a heartbeat-it was soooo beautiful.
This guy so nice and humble and kind when he showed his family and said join the family bro I literally subscribed. very nice of telling people who are newly visiting how to enjoy the park.
Great video! Living in Edmonton, I am blessed to be able to visit the mountains on a regular basis! We usually take our rv and love the small campgrounds between Jasper and Banff! Wilcox Campground has amazing views of the Columbia Icefields right from your cmapsite! The hostel in Lake Louise is a favorite of ours- the restaurant is amazing!!!
11:50 - There is a convenience store at Castle Junction (Halfway between Lake Louise and Banff) and Lake Louise village has one. small technicality, but i digress.
I been across Canada several times from Ontario and i miss those days a lot.Western Canada was simply amazing,i loved it and felt lost when i had to come back home.I was a crazy young kid making my first trip as only a 12 year old back in the 70's.It is good to see we still have gorgeous clean water in 2020. These sceneries and places you visit will be memories that last a lifetime.I was crazy i used to trip around on a bike doing 30+ miles a day and got to see all sorts of places and people. It's really nice yo ucan travel around with yoru family member "sister" most people would never do this as siblings tend to go their own way and do their own thing.I have the lasting memories of having also done all this with my family. For MANY years 20/30 + i longed to go back to the west coast but never did return...sigh.So all my memories are from way back in the 70's-early 80's.
You guys have done a great job to show us the literally breath-taking views and demonstrate interesting outdoor activities there. Really looking forward to visiting Banff in person.
Mike-Nothing is better than Banff Canada ( other than Vancouver BC) thanks for sharing! The town of Banff is incredible regardless of all the tourist ! Thanks for this RUclips I miss Canada / I am a Pennsylvanian USA
This is the video that convinced me to move to Banff and work there for the past spring-summer. I'm very glad I decided to do it, it is one of the best memories I've had and I can't wait to visit BC next month (after watching some of your Vancouver videos)! Thank you for all the great videos and insights, you make everything seem so exciting. Look forward to more, you're doing great :)
Love seeing this Mike. I’m an American so we aren’t allowed to visit. So beautiful. You have a really nice speaking voice. Thanks for this wonderful expedition.
Mike is it true that Gord, Was you and Jess' brother. If so, belated thoughts are. with you. If you're into music, check out the band, Surfaces, from outside of Austin, TX. They have 3 albums and all the songs are positive and uplifting, kinda reminds of your personality.
What amazing parks - one day we'll be able to travel wider again, and I look forward to the chance to see places like them! In the meantime, thanks to you (and Jess) for showing us them on screen, and living your best lives out there to inspire us.
Mike, most of this video you made is close to my heart. I had just purchased my first car in 1979, and I took a cross-country trek in May 1980 from here in Cornwall ( Eastern Ontario ), to Edmonton, where my sister lived; on to the Rockies; down to Victoria, and back. Definitely, the Icefields Parkway from Jasper to Banff, with all the stops inbetween was so memorable, and your video brought most everything front and centre again! Of particular note was your swim in Lake Louise. My intentions in 1980 were much like yours except I was going to rent a canoe and paddle towards the Victoria glacier which you've shown in the distance, but I had 1 surprise as I crested the path that led from the parking lot to the hotel: there was still ice on the lake in late May! So I was delighted to see you dive into what I'm going to say was probably water with a temp. of 11 - 14 deg. ( based on the date you posted this video ) ! I do hope you went on Hwy. 1A, just west of Banff, at the Kicking Horse pass, where the North American Continental Divide is situated, along with Divide Creek, which has an East branch that eventually runs into the Atlantic ocean through Hudson's bay, and a west branch that ends up in the Pacific ocean. Sorry I've been long-winded but I'm sure as you acquire more moments under your belt with your excellent presentations, you too will be able to call up memories like I've done with your help. You're almost 34 now and almost in the blink of an eye you'll be 50. So live, live, live. You, and the people you keep close to your heart deserve you. I'm a happy bystander though!
That's so beautiful bro. I wish I could come see a lot of that. However we are under strict rules traveling between Alaska and the lower 48 states. Maybe next year
What’s the difference between a black bear and a grizzly? Black bear poop has seeds and berries in it. Grizzly poop has shoe laces and bear bells in it.
My daughters and I have been studying the main (62) US National Parks and have been in awe of them all. We have also been ranking them based on ones we are most excited to visit. The top of my list is filled with the northern parks. I love the mountain, lakes and towering trees. This video blew me away. My little family and I have had a love affair with Canada, BC in particular and might just have to head north (were from Portland Or.) and start checking these out. When we are allowed to of course. Loved the bear bells and seeing you with your first 3 subscribers :) So glad everyone survived the scary tire moment as well. Much love
You have so many diverse and incredible National Parks that I want to visit in the US as well. Maybe we can swap one day, you come up here, and I'll head down there 😂
@@DownieLive Great idea! We can get the two governments to sign a temporary bill called The Scenic Wildlife And Park Service International Exchange System aka S.W.A.P.S.I.ES. LOL
Should be illegal to come into my country and say the natural beauty is "not worth it anymore".... kindly go back to wherever your stupid a** came from.
I'm glad I got to visit Banff last December when people from the USA could still travel to Canada. The people of Canada are a whole lot nicer than the residents of the USA, in my opinion.
@@Leviathan02464 Oh Albertans of course. 1. Not even half of a Albertans would ever agree to a separation so it’s never going to happen as not even a quarter as of now would agree. 2.You’d need government approval and that will never happen, after the Quebec referendums the federal government passed certain laws that inhibits future ideas similar to Quebec’s making them extremely difficult to have and you’d need a very large majority of the country to agree. 3. The indigenous peoples within Alberta would never agree as they know Alberta itself is conservative meaning it isn’t as active with the preservation, cooperation, and environmental goals of the Indigenous as per say a liberal government, so alone the indigenous peoples would not allow it, meaning the federal government would never allow it. 4. You have to be dumb to actually think that this would be in any way beneficial, you would lose all Canadian ownerships, bye Free healthcare, something a conservative government most likely won’t give you, goodbye Canadian passport, one of the best passports in the world, goodbye global trade and allies, since Alberta is inland its trading partner will be primarily US and Canada, Canada isn’t going to be fond of Alberta if you leave meaning you will most likely not trade a lot with them. Canada is ranked in the top 5 best countries in the world, depending where you look it can be #2, so it boggles my mind why you would wanna leave. If you don’t agree with the leftist country, why tf are you still here.
I just came across your videos for the first time and I must say I like them alot! I live out east close to Ottawa and Montréal and we don't have places like Banff or Jasper unfortunately. This video was awesome!
Toronto born and raised almost 30 years. Moved to Alberta (Edmonton) 5 years ago...best decision ever. Pictures and videos don't do the Rocky Mountains justice.
As someone who lives in Calgary (closest major city to Banff if I am not mistaken,) I honestly love Banff and am grateful for being able to live near it. If anyone wants to go to somewhere beautiful, take my advice and come to Banff. You won't regret it and it will be one of your best trips, guaranteed.
We went to the Rockies this past August. Skipped Banff and Lake Louise because of the crowds and went to other nearby lakes and attractions and saw so many amazing things.
@@DownieLive And, thanks for taking your shirt off within first three seconds of the video. We all appreciate it so much. 😂 In all seriousness, like other DownieLive fans said, the editing is EVERYTHING, Mike. And your signature bathroom tours never go out of style. Cant wait for next week, sir!
That is such a beautiful part of the world. In a previous life I worked in a UK-based tour operator, arranging inbound travel to Canada, and I absolutely loved arranging travel in the Canadian Rockies. Thanks for bring back so many wonderful memories.
for some reason all your older videos are popping up for me. i was just out here a couple weeks ago and walked on the frozen lake its wild cant wait to visit this summer
As a resident of Calgary, I go to Banff often, so it was fantastic to see you showing off Banff and the surrounding parks in such a glorious manner. Parks Canada should employ you to create a promotional video for them! Beautifully done, one of your best videos ever!!
I travel to Jasper for library conferences every few years.; While I am continually awed by the landscape and nature, I am always struck by how much the Columbia Icefield has retreated. Noticeably each trip. My parents took me there as a kid, and took pictures of me on the field from the road. That same spot is now gravel. it is, in so many ways, very frightening.
Totally agree with the other comments, these have to be some of the best Vlogs you've ever done ,from your Beautiful home Country how stunning is Canada,so look forward to your next Vlog.
Thank you so much for this. Banff and Jasper are so incredibly close to us here in Calgary....and so beautiful and it's nice to see others appreciating them too.
Jasper and Moraine Lake and Lake Louise are so iconic. But be sure when you get photos blown up, you tell them, Yes the lakes really are those beautiful aqua blue colour, don't change that...! Poor Jess, but great recovery..
I just moved from Ontario and have been living in Banff for a month , I spent a month in BC and a month in Lake Louise. Banff is stunning. Just went for a walk to the river and grabbed myself timmies and walked past a family of Elk . I think personally Lake Louise is a one time visit - Emerald Lake, Morraine Lake, and Maligne Lake are on my bucket list ! Same sun Hostel has a pub called The Beaver which is amazing !
What a beautiful country, If any of the tourism authorities in Canada had any sense they would put you in charge of marketing, or in in charge of the whole country you would do a great job taking care of the country and its people, one of the best you tube channels ever, great work mate.
Mike, thank you for the adventures in the park surprised by less commercial things which is a good thing in a park and how much fun you can have with less people. This video makes me want to go all the way to Canada and enjoy the same things that he has showing us. Have a great week thank you again.
Always learn something new when I watch your videos Mike, Never knew that Canada was the first to have National Parks, Another great video and great scenery . Great to see you spend time with your family as well. Cheers
Actually the US was the first country to have a National Park with Yellowstone in 1872. I don’t believe Canada had one until Banff national Park in 1887. Doesn’t diminish the beauty though. The Canadian Rockies are beautiful 👍
Breathtaking....only way to describe your neck of the woods. Thanks for taking us on the journey with you and your family. This place is on my bucket list.
Really good to see and informative! Was planning a trip to Banff couple years ago and unfortunately due to rl issues, never got around it. However, I still plan to visit one day, and this was great to see, thank you!

Wow, what fantastic memories. I hope to look my back on my experiences fondly and to continue creating new ones 😊
Thanks for sharing your stories.
Canada has some BEAUTIFUL national parks and nature preserves.
You and your sister are so cute! You’re definitely one of my favorite youtubers at this point. I love your personality and your videos!!
Thank you so much!! Wow! That's so kind of you to say.
That's so beautiful bro. I wish I could come see a lot of that. However we are under strict rules traveling between Alaska and the lower 48 states. Maybe next year
High quality, well planned videos. Have been on RUclips for over 10 years and you videos impress me!
Form my home Jordan 🇯🇴 to you
Y great man 👌 and I really join with this video many like to you bro.
I love the footage of you both swimming in the lake. Your clarity of your camera is incredible.
LOL
Sadly I can't travel to Canada right now, and I'm not happy about it. I love Canada.
heck, even Canadian can't or suppose to travel in Canada.. don't worry, it will be open again
In Canada provinces literally close their boarders to other provinces.
@@vicgamesvt9682 well, it will pass..
Thanks!
Welcome!
Being this handsome and charismatic should be illegal 😂
😂😂
Isn't he 🔥🔥🔥
Should be illegal to come into my country and say the natural beauty is "not worth it anymore".... kindly go back to wherever your stupid a** came from.
We lived in Alberta in the late 60's , still busy but nothing like it was when we returned to the Rockies last year .
I'm glad I got to visit Banff last December when people from the USA could still travel to Canada. The people of Canada are a whole lot nicer than the residents of the USA, in my opinion.
Especially Democrat states like California and Oregon!
Well considering canadians have no rights or freedoms .... we are forced to be polite.
@@mitchellcreates no you really aren’t forced, that’s 0 logic lmao. Also Canadians do have rights and freedoms, if you hate it there, move
@@proskilztimez2785 instead of move we are trying to make alberta independent!
*I drove through band just this week and also Jasper I’m a truck driver and it is so beautiful up in this area*
13:18 And I'm so jealous of you cuz I don't know how to swim! All the more reason to learn how to swim. lol
me too😪
Make sure you hire a swim instructor and don’t try to teach yourself - that’s how you drown. Most pools have adult swimming lessons
Got spoiled with work and the first time I went to Lake Louise stayed at the Fairmont.... Waking up to that view is literally a dream
I don’t know why I click on this I live in Banff and I have been to all these places
Lol I do the same for Montana stuff and I live here.
Because even if it is your own back yard, the excitement of somebody visiting from somewhere else can be infectious.
Banff has been on my bucket list for a long while. Thanks for another great video!
Saw a bear coming out of the water when I went to banff
Gnarly stuff
I just came across your videos for the first time and I must say I like them alot! I live out east close to Ottawa and Montréal and we don't have places like Banff or Jasper unfortunately. This video was awesome!
Ok so when im old enough I am moving to Canada. Thats final.
we dont want u
@@mrfunkey5828 we are not proud of people like you
Mr Funkey shut up fool, don’t worry callMehjon we can’t wait for you to get here!
Another great video! Great positive content that is so wonderful these days! You guys have a ton of fun, great to see!
Ontario is lame, need to move here!
I agree
ontario is awesome. but i agree there is nothing like the rockies.
Toronto born and raised almost 30 years. Moved to Alberta (Edmonton) 5 years ago...best decision ever. Pictures and videos don't do the Rocky Mountains justice.
Great video! When I would visit Canada during work, we would go to Banff and it was absolutely beautiful. Summer or winter, it's beautiful!
One of your best videos ever!
It’s great to see your family with you on your adventures. Stay Safe and God Bless You and your family.
Totally agree!
You've outdone yourself in this video Mike. Thanks for sharing. The grandeur and majesty has no comparison.
We went to the Rockies this past August. Skipped Banff and Lake Louise because of the crowds and went to other nearby lakes and attractions and saw so many amazing things.
Another great video. Wonderful that you included your mum and dad and sister in this video. I hope to meet you someday in your travels.
Thank you for taking us to the Paradises of Canada. So good to see you have a great time with your family. Cheers, Mike!
Our pleasure!
@@DownieLive And, thanks for taking your shirt off within first three seconds of the video. We all appreciate it so much. 😂
In all seriousness, like other DownieLive fans said, the editing is EVERYTHING, Mike. And your signature bathroom tours never go out of style. Cant wait for next week, sir!
😂😂 you got it! More to come! Thanks!
i am from edmonton which is about a 4-5 hour drive to banff and jasper, the views are always unreal and skiing in the winter is so much fun
That is such a beautiful part of the world. In a previous life I worked in a UK-based tour operator, arranging inbound travel to Canada, and I absolutely loved arranging travel in the Canadian Rockies. Thanks for bring back so many wonderful memories.
So cool!
for some reason all your older videos are popping up for me. i was just out here a couple weeks ago and walked on the frozen lake its wild cant wait to visit this summer
As a resident of Calgary, I go to Banff often, so it was fantastic to see you showing off Banff and the surrounding parks in such a glorious manner. Parks Canada should employ you to create a promotional video for them! Beautifully done, one of your best videos ever!!
Thanks Dee! 🤗
At the National Park...a star twinkling at night...the moon glowing and bright...💖
Thank you so much for this. Banff and Jasper are so incredibly close to us here in Calgary....and so beautiful and it's nice to see others appreciating them too.
It really is!
Beautiful trip and video! Thank you for sharing your itinerary and tips with us. I'm particularly looking forward to Horseshoe Lake and Annette Lake.
I live in Alberta, Calgary and Banff is my most mind blowing excitement place and so as Lake louise!
I went through Banff and Lake Louise on a family trip to Drumheller. The Columbia Icefield was amazing!
the highlight of driving the icefields pkwy
What a beautiful country, If any of the tourism authorities in Canada had any sense they would put you in charge of marketing, or in in charge of the whole country you would do a great job taking care of the country and its people, one of the best you tube channels ever, great work mate.
Mike, thank you for the adventures in the park surprised by less commercial things which is a good thing in a park and how much fun you can have with less people. This video makes me want to go all the way to Canada and enjoy the same things that he has showing us. Have a great week thank you again.
Our pleasure! Have a great week as well, Carl.
Lol cuz he is a liar snd doesn't know facts.
I've watched a lot of Banff and Jasper vloggers ... you're by far the best I've seen! Keep up the great reviews.
Breathtaking....only way to describe your neck of the woods. Thanks for taking us on the journey with you and your family. This place is on my bucket list.
Our pleasure!
Really good to see and informative! Was planning a trip to Banff couple years ago and unfortunately due to rl issues, never got around it. However, I still plan to visit one day, and this was great to see, thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
