Whilst I appreciate 1Dimes analysis and largely agree with what he has to say about ‘wokeism’ I disagree with his comparison between Bernie’s tariff proposals and Trumps tariff proposals, and his insistence that Trump is not a ‘fascist’. With regards to tariffs, Bernie’s proposals were far more specific and aimed at preserving labour rights in addition to domestic industries. Trump’s proposals by contrast are far broader and fuelled by the drive towards trade wars and the reduction of the trade deficit, and ultimately ungrounded in policies which will actively preserve the rights and economic mobility of American workers. Additionally Trump might not be a fascist in the modernist sense, but he is fascist in the postmodern. The world he presents to his voters is one of anxiety, humiliation, fear, vengeance and distrust, which although is certainly ideologically inconsistent enables a plurality of grievances and resentful worldviews to combine. And whilst Trump himself will ultimately be regulated by Wall Street, he has nonetheless established room for himself to engage in greater levels of state censorship, intervention and authoritarian governance under the guise of protecting national identity, security and economic stability. His rhetoric and actions foster a cult of personality, where loyalty to himself supersedes loyalty to democratic institutions, allowing him to undermine checks and balances whilst portraying dissent as treasonous or unpatriotic.
I agree as well. Particularly thinking about it after the podcast. I still think it may be too narrow to exclude newer far-right "neo-fascism" that we are seeing as something that is outside of "fascism" altogether. Fascist in the post-modern sense is a good way to put it. I'll be sure to pick on Tony next time I talk to him lol.
"He is fascist in the postmodern sense" as defined by postmodernists. Do you hear yourself speak? Look at what was allowed to happen to little girls in Rotherham in the name of maintaining the lie of liberalism. Look at the human cost when we are all forced to play pretend with you. You libpeds take power and abuse it to silence dissent and force your will upon others, that is worse than anything you ever smeared with buzzwords.
1 dime is wrong on taxes per check lower but I have only had a tax bill end of the year under trump
