42:09 to the end is my favourite part of ANY british television EVER !!! Bunter and Lord Peter go together like Batman and Robin... I'm glad Edward Petherbridge did not do these episodes, because Ian Carmichael is 555454454 better as Lord Peter.. I watch this particular part often... Thank you Rudolf for putting it up... and Cheers !
The book by Dorothy L. Sayers is one of the best mysteries I ever read!! Have not seen this video since it was originally on television! Pleased to see this again! No ads yet and am using Google Chrome if that helps anybody!!
He's over forty in The Nine Tailors - we know this because he's explicitly mentioned as being forty in Murder Must Advertise, which is the preceding book. Perhaps you are thinking of Bertie Wooster, who is rather younger, and whose stories take place rather earlier? There's no way he can be in his twenties, since The Nine Tailors takes place in 1934 and, were he to be in his twenties and fought in WWI, he'd have had to do it as a child...
However, Ian Carmichael was 54 instead of 44 when he performed in Nine Tailors - I think his age shows worse in Murder Must Advertise, when he looks totally silly and potbellied in the harlequin costume. ...I'm bias towards Edward Petherbridge for playing Lord Peter as fatuous but meloncholy, instead of silly.
Thanks for posting these.
Lord Peter Wimsey! Wow! I haven't seen him in decades. Such a pleasure to do so.
A great series and well written. This 4 parter gives some details as to Wimsey's background before he became an amateur detective.

Adverts every two minutes is worse than the tv and shows your greed for the few pence you get for show them.

Did a little more digging - according to Wikipedia, he was born in 1890, which makes him 44 at the time of The Nine Tailors.
