Tour of Montparnasse Tower, Paris

- A video tour of our visit to Montparnasse Tower (or as it's called in French, "Tour Montparnasse") in Paris, France. Filmed in November 2017. In this walking tour, I take you from nearby Montparnasse Metro station, through the streets, up the elevator / lift and to the viewing deck.
Going up to the Panorimic Observation Deck (or in French, the "Observatoire Panoramique de la Tour Montparnasse") on the 56th floor, and especially then going further up to the outdoor rooftop terrace a couple floors above, was just amazing!
I'm not exaggerating when I say that seeing the beautiful bird's eye sky high view over Paris at sunset and at night was my favourite thing we did in Paris during our stay. I'd highly recommend it!
From the top of Montparnasse you can see gorgeous views of the Eiffel Tower, as it glitters and sparkles on the hour every hour, and has it's beam of light that rotates and lights up the surroundings with its beacon at night. You can also see pretty much all the main attractions and tourist sites in Paris from up there if you look out for them, including the Arc de Triomphe, Centre Pompidou, the Seine, Notre Dame, Sacre Coeur over in Montmartre, Le Grand Palais, Le Palais Royal, Jardin du Luxemebourg (Luxemburg gardens) and more. I tried to label most of them in the video :)

Remember folks… from here you have beautiful views of the Eiffel Tower. If you go to the top of the Eiffel Tower, you have views of this monstrosity :)

Awesome video! I went to Paris a year and 2 months after this video was posted and was able to visit this tower at night. I was even able to meet up with a foreign exchange student that I knew back when he spent time in the states!
Imagine spending 20-30 euro to watch the city by night, only to see reflections of a roller disco in the glass wall panels haha. But beautiful views and I am probably one of the rare people that doesn't hate this building at all. Although I can see why a lot of people do of course.

I went up! Picked a fab day.Very easy to find- lift then several sets of stairs to an inside area ( with cafe) or a few more stairs to the outside.Gets a bit chilly later on.Amazing views - be ready to grab a space at sunset though- suddenly everyone wants to be at that side!Wish I could add pics in here- the ones I have are fab.

I went to Montparnasse Tower and absolutely loved it. Was great to see a Panoramic view of Paris and recognize different buildings I saw while planning my trip

I have no memory of seeing this building when i visited Eiffel tower in 2022 😅
Is it not wheelchair accessible? The website said it should be but all i see are a lot of stairs 😢
Many of us as Parisians say we find this tower ugly...I suspect many are secretely loving it for it's boldness, it has since been accepted as a landmark of Paris.
Lots of people in Paris claim they hate it because they say it sticks out like a sore thumb, everyone knows they're secretly in love with it. ;)

Honestly i dont understand how you can defend it. You havent understood architecture yet, and i kinda understand you because i was just like you a couple years ago. After visiting london and seeing how these monstrousities ruin their traditional charming architectural style without any form of planning, This changed my views on modern architecture forewer. The building isnt ugly, but simply doesnt fit in to Paris. If you would build it in a modern metropolis it would be completely fine, but cities that lack order will automatically become ugly. Order was the reason traditional Paris became beutiful, because planning regulations would stop these monstrousities to be built like that right in the city center

How long can you stay? Are there places with no glass do you can get good pictures ( no reflection)? Thanks
I'm not sure what it's like today but when I was there in 2017:
- There was no limit on how long you could stay
- On the rooftop there was a gap in the glass safety fence so you could take glassless photos through that gap. (see video at 4:26 to see the gap)
