  • This lamp had done its running hours and was given to me to give it a last test run.
As it was a gas discharge lamp, I had to make a system how to ignite the lamps and get it going.
I used a HPS igniter and wired the lamp in series with the HPS lamp (ex street light).
The high voltage impulses seem to trigger the lamp and it worked.
No forced cooling was applied and the lamp was running very hot.

Be careful, those lamps are under a lot of pressure and the quartz gets weak when they are well used. The housing doesn't always contain the fragments when they go bang.

I took a 55W ballast from a prius, and hooked it up to one of those bulbs. HID

Be careful due to lots of ultra violet as the filter is usually the first element in the projector after the lamp

Nice green colour, I wonder if an automotive HID driver would run that lamp?

Nice lamp. I wish I could find homemade ballasts for those lamps on eBay.
