this guy is fantastic very easy to deal with and will ship to the US so don't wait any longer get your new knife from DB Blades … the customer service is absolutely the best…..thanks Dom
So I've been making knives for a couple year's and have done some pretty nice knives. I've always fought getting the perfect bevel or the best finish. I finally decided that a hammered texture with an ok bevel looks good enough for me!
Dom, it's a real pleasure to see how your skills have grown over the past few years! It's cool to see the professionalism and knowledge you are bringing to the knife making table, as it were. I always enjoy seeing your work pop up in my feed on IG, and I'm very happy that others have seen the talent you have and that you are able to make a career of knife making :) I really can't wait to see what the future has in store for you :) Keep working hard, my friend!
thanks man. the last 2 years have been pretty full on and going full time has definitely helped me up the quality of my work. Thanks for following my work for so long, I still remember you where one of my first 100 subs
I absolutely love you videos. You are unique. The 25 mm titanium blade got my attention to your channel and you deserved the viral hit. Make more content, please :D
When it was rusted in parts right after you put the random patterns in, it looks so cool like a rusty camo looking knife. The final look is beautiful great work you definitely got the flint look you were going for!
cheers, too bad the rust isn't on their well enough to work as a finish. after I did the pattern I wiped it down with some wd40 and it all came right off
that is fucking sweet ass knife man I can't believe it turned out so well at a glance you would think it's actually made from stone you got a like and a new subscriber here good work man keep it up
Like your optimism man keep it up, your channel is one point and the way you are honest and crap your better than most other channels. Keep it up, ow yeah been thinking of saving up to get one of those awesome kitchen knives, wonder how much would it be, on your stuff for a decent one? The great work I've seen and how much of all around bloke you are can't wait to see.
thanks for the kind words mate, I appreciate it. For a full size chef knife it would probably be around the 5-600 AUD mark depending what you want done
Mate I was thinking of some sort of higher level chiefs knife that could cut through the bench if dropped or pushed down with enough force. It might take a bit on the money wise, only a semi part timer so got some time from now. But yeah something like that mate would be great.
I love this knife sooo much, it needs to be available for purchase to the public i would die to have one i am starting to get into knife making and have made five so far and one sword im currently making a tomahawk as well anyway great job I admire your work greatly.
You have some seriously nice look stuff. I wish I had the money to pick something up from you...I'd love to have one of your knives on my duty belt everyday at work.
well kid, if you didn't mean to make a tutorial video you failed! it was extremely informative and educational. in fact I learned a lot more than many others. it was entertaining too!
Seen the flint-knapped look done before a few times, but your way is so simple it's elegant! The end result is very nice as well. I noticed some RYOBI-tools lying about... How are they working out for you? Price vs. Durability/Performance and such?
Riiiight, I might stick with BOSCH/Metabo then... At our workshop I find that the less-practically inclined people ruin our grinders REALLY fast, most often by letting them lie around sanders and other grinders. Bone-, metal-, and wood-dust REALLY fecks'em up :( Stupid vikings...
My ryobi angle grinder pretty much lives next to the belt grinder and its still going strong. well almost I've had to give it a few blasts of compressed air into the motor to get it started
The air-vents must be angled/placed differently than the on the ones we use. I will have to get one to test it out! With a 40% discount on all Ryobi at the moment it might be worth it :) Thanks, man! Keep up the good work! If you ever get the opportunity to visit the Jomsborg Sud-Hird camps in AUS, do go, they have some very good blacksmiths and knifemakers in the Australian Viking Community. Best looking knife You’ve made, awesome shape like an arrowhead mixed with the rocky texture, comes together to make a dope blade!!!
Beautiful knife. You nailed the "caveman style" in my opinion.
thank you
Ditto!
That knife is killer! Good job! Really like the way that turned out.

Best DIY knife I have ever seen!
Very nice and I liked seeing how you do the grinding of the pattern into the knife.
Very sharp, but actually scary sharp.
Thanks for the video.

That was amazing from start to finish . Even the heating. Of the oil ! 💥
Rough & tough great blade.!

Those colors that came out after you ground in the pattern were awesome. Almost looked like a desert camo.

Just found your channel mate - I like your work - that knife is awesome - To me it looks like a topographical map of some crazy mountains 👍🏻🇦🇺
You my friend are an absolute genius
thanks man
I was always a fan of "crude but effective".
That came out awesome. I need to try out early of these.
haha thanks. You should man, knowing you it'll probably end up as some sort of big fuck off blade
DB Blades Lol ,probably.
That orange on it right before putting the edge on it looked pretty damn cool in my opinion
that is fucking sweet ass knife man I can't believe it turned out so well at a glance you would think it's actually made from stone you got a like and a new subscriber here good work man keep it up
thanks and thanks for the sub mate

Sweet blade! Love it!
thanks mate
Beautiful work
how much do knifes like this cost same texture but with a chisel bevel
probably around 250 AUD depending what you want and where I ship it
I subscribed just because of the humor he has
That looks great. Now I want one.
Best channel for learning imho... Okay I lied because I'm a caveman type bladesmith too. Good stuff for real though. Your work is badass
Did you use ferric chloride or did you Parkerize the blade to get that finish? Thanks!
I'm an egotistical bastard! lol Excellent work, the knife is a true piece of art! Thanks for sharing it with us.
thanks
Cultro barbaris Booz
Your honesty on the non tutorial type videos got my sub...oh and a like lol that’s what you guys want right ?
wish you had shown how you got that finish
Looks like a simple hot vinegar patina.
This does look flint knapped or something like that,I love it.
Good job man👍
You have some seriously nice look stuff. I wish I had the money to pick something up from you...I'd love to have one of your knives on my duty belt everyday at work.
Wwould you ever consider doing a flint or obsidian type knife?
probably not, its not really something I have any experience with
DB Blades okay, great job by the way!
cheers
By normalising do you mean Annealing? If not, how is it different?
its pretty similar but less hardcore and I do it a few times.
Looks really cool. You should learn to make knives out of flint or obsidian, it is anything but random! Very challenging indeed. Great video, thanks.
You make the best knifes
nice work , the knife look good , me i ask u sir after u get the knife from the oven do u cold in used car oil ? and thx for sharing ur video
Awesome skills DB
thanks
i would pay for this knife! beautiful!
thanks
nice style
what temp range and power is your oven??
haven't got a clue. It does everything that I need to and thats about all I am concerned about
Looks great man.
thanks
freaking cool, looks like it was flint knapped!
thanks
Love the video mate! But question... the wheat/orange/brown colors you were getting, doesn't that affect the heat treat or at least affect the edge?
thanks mate, those colours are just rust forming as the steel is being ground
A another awesome knife
thanks mate
oh man! a chef knife like that would be awesome!!!!
How did you do the finish?
Beautiful knife....you have a new subscriber
Curious, what grit did you take it up to with the stones?
10,000 usually but it depends
In your experience, what has been the best heat treat for your O1 tool steel knives?
how did you turn it black?,after puting in all the caveman grooves, im not a knife maker so it might be a stupid question,
ferric chloride man
That looks so cool!!!!!
9:46 which oil use
Very nice!
thanks
what was that bronze/gold color right after pattern grinding?
that was just a bit of surface rust
I know it's not viable, but it looked really cool with the light reflecting off all the different surfaces, like a desert camp
*camo
Lol nice
damn!!! that looks awesome!!!
"Stay. Stay, and you get a file" you have to talk to your projects. It's like tradition to me lol
Awesome work, would love to get one from ya. Thumbs up.
question how much you reckon would it cost to buy simple tools for knife making?
thanks mate
the only thing you really need is a file and thats what 20 bucks. So bugger all if you're willing to work for it
Sick! Where did u get the belt grinder from
I'd be interested in one myself.
buen trabajo saludos desde México
I know you know what you're doing...but that's a lost of post heat-treat grinding. Is doing a rock pattern pre-heat-treat not recommended?
it just makes straightening warps much harder. with a 2x72 it doesn't really make a huge difference doing it post HT
I like that look
Thanks mate
Awesome blade!!!!!!!
Amazing knife looks like it has a fading cameo before the finish was on
how much would one have to pay you to make a knife like this for them?
man I love this knife such a beauty
would love to have that
What kind of grinder is that
well kid, if you didn't mean to make a tutorial video you failed! it was extremely informative and educational. in fact I learned a lot more than many others. it was entertaining too!
I was about to write the exact same thing, what a great video once again DB Blades!
How much for a knife like that?

A masterpiece!!!
thanks
This is gonna be one of those 1 million views video. I can tell
fingers crossed!
Seen the flint-knapped look done before a few times, but your way is so simple it's elegant! The end result is very nice as well.
I noticed some RYOBI-tools lying about... How are they working out for you? Price vs. Durability/Performance and such?
Thanks. The angle grinder I have works ok for me so far. That being said I don't think I would use it more than a few minutes a day
Riiiight, I might stick with BOSCH/Metabo then... At our workshop I find that the less-practically inclined people ruin our grinders REALLY fast, most often by letting them lie around sanders and other grinders. Bone-, metal-, and wood-dust REALLY fecks'em up :(
Stupid vikings...

that not too far away actually
Hey man, awesome video... mind if i ask.. what kind of metal did you use?
O1 tool steel
What did you use to etch it?
sorry mate thats a secret
His dick. It's etched with his dick. They way a real man etches steel.
i would love to have a knife like that
