  • Over the past few seasons there has been one particular fishery that’s captivated the minds and attention of nearly the entire Southern California offshore community: Foaming bluefin. Nothing can compare to the rush of pulling into a spot of water churning like a washing machine, and nothing will be as frustrating as casting right through it without a bite. This week, BDOutdoors Pro Contributor Nate Winicki covers some of the most effective artificial presentations such as poppers, stick baits, surface irons, and metal jigs to show you how and when to use them so you can be successful on your next mission to pull a few fish from the foam. Let us know your thoughts on these bluefin tuna foamer fishing gear and tackle tips - and let us know what works for you!

Great info without pushing a particular brand. Can you do the same video for bait fishing tuna? Got worn out elbows and shoulder to be slinging jigstick.

Thanks! What exactly about bait fishing would you like him to cover? Nate has a few articles on the site that might be helpful to you as well! Check this one out: www.bdoutdoors.com/fishing/offshore-fishing/offshore-finesse-fishing-a-guide-on-light-line-tuna-fishing/

First String is slept on. Best mono out there for slinging irons. Is that a 40 or 60g Zakana?

The one in the video is actually a 100 gram jig. Depending on the size of the bait, we'll generally start with a 100 or 130 gram size which is much easier to cast than it's smaller counterparts.
