This campus was not a pediatric psychiatric campus. It was the West Seneca Developmental Center, formerly known as West Seneca State School until 1974, run by the WNY DDSO which is part of NYS OPWDD. It housed people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The State closed the residential buildings and moved the residents out into group homes around WNY. There are a few buildings still open for administration, training, transportation and maintenance offices.
I worked here when it was the DDSO in the early 2000’s. It’s crazy to see it this way! I would love to see what the tunnel system underneath looks like now.
I worked in Buildings 10 and 11 from 1963 to 1966. Anyone out there who remembers the place then I would like to hear from you. I was a ward attendant and last worked 11-1
My late grandfather was a barber at the school. I remember visiting and attending shows put on by the school residents. Although I was young, I remember it being a place of much love.
Working on genealogical research... Found out a cousin of mine was there, in fact died there in 1965. Was wondering what kind of facility it was... The comments on here have answered some questions. Now have more. Thank you.
I lived 2 streets over on Carmolite Drive off of East West road as a kid. I always wondered, from across a big field, what was in the buildings we called the NY state school.
I lived across from this place in an apartment building on east and west road my friends and I always went there to hang out it is really freaky going there when it’s dusk and this video is not accurate on what it looks like now
I was living in this building twice in the 70s. I was being bullied at school and when I fought back I was sent to this school because I was suspended and charges were pressed. Judge sent me there to go to school and be disciplined. My first time there I was told I was a diabetic and I'd have to take shots every day. I'd fight the needle away, I locked myself in the bathroom and being in the hospital they sweet talked me out, took the door off and sent me to West Seneca State school to teach me to learn how to be a diabetic instead of fight the shyringes away. There was no one there that was insane, just bad kids who needed to go to school while neing disciplined
please make a follow up video!!!

When I heard you mention your first video I had to watch it. 😁👍
Thank you for not touching anything.
The boys and girls of the West Seneca State School were annual guests of Lancaster Speedway when I worked there in the 1970s.
I lived there during the blizzard of 77 and none of us were from Lancaster , the speedway was out of our reach.
Oh you said guests. I am sorry, the older kids would get to go places with good behavior
the music is kinda giving me some chills, but im so down to explore this place too
So, how did it closed

There is an over grown playground behind the building where two kids died. You can hear them when you are in the playground
is there any proof of this? I'm researching the site and am looking to add this as a segment.
I was there many times to explore
