I just love the Winsor & Newton Sepia colour. It is one of my favourites. I find it has such depth of shades you can achieve with it. Yellow Ochre is another of my faves and I especially like the Lukas brand. Your paintings are so wonderful. They embody such freedom and spirit. You are an inspiration. I lost all my watercolour paints/brushes/paper because of a tragic marital separation, so I have not painted for many years now. After finally surfacing from my catastrophic marital breakup, I have been once again awakened to the joy of creating images on paper with paints and water. Thank-you for your videos which have opened a portal to taking up a brush and “flowing” with the whispers of my soul. 👵🏻🐾💕🇨🇦
dear lena, i m really impressed by your watercolour technique and the loving way you do. i am learning a lot. thank you so much for being so kind for all of us. love you
Thanks so much for sharing your process, from the paper choice and preparation, paint selection and technique. This is inspiring and greatly appreciated. Your artwork is beautiful 💙
Lena, you have a follower in Virginia of USA. I love your style! You are an inspiration to me in watercolor. I love watercolor but didn't really want to paint flowers and birds. Thank you for making these videos.
thank you for posting the details on this video and paints it gives a more interesting you feel part of it more sitting and viewing your work is very beautiful
So inspired and excited by your technique that I have already had a go with some success. I just want to paint more and learn more too. A happy wannabe Artist.
It isn't my favourite style, but it's so fascinating! Watercolour is the most versatile technique, you can paint hyperrealistic flowers or abstract and dreamy landscape following the waterflow. Magic!
es it is magical - Thant's why I like it. Some years ago I started painting a book with flowers for medical use, and then you have to pain every little thing and count the leaves etc. But very relaxing work!
This is absolutely gorgeous!!!! My favorite so far i think...though I may have said that on others as well😊 but your work is just amazing! As others have said, you make it look so easy. I loved, in this one, how to seemed to let it all dry, then went section by section adding what you wanted....add ocean waves to listen too and it is super relaxing, but it's also exciting because it inspires me so much and has me picturing colors and ways to do it. That large format paper is amazing too! I could watch you work for hours :) Thank you so much for sharing and I hope you're doing well!! Jade :)
Thank you for all your videos, well done. I'm so inspired by your work and the dynamic process you demonstrate I have my backer board prepared and will soon be giving it a whirl for myself. Am I the only/first to ask about the tape you use (I see you wet it then apply) and you refer to it in description. I've scanned comments and your supplies but am not finding any info. I'll scan online art store catalogues but are you able to tell a bit more about it?
I always wanted to do watercolor paintings but I was so afraid to mess up but no I have fund the best teacher ever. thanks so much Lena. Amazing work. keep it up...
Thanks so much for sharing your talent and techniques. I'm curious why needed to wet and dry several times the paper, does this technique add any benefit? Many blessings!
I wet the paper as you see in the beginning of the video. Then I wait 5 to 10 minutes. Then I put old-fashioned tape all around and wait another maybe 10 minutes til the paper is stretched. Then it won't buckle when you paint on it.
Judy Ghander - I think perhaps it is not the same thing. She was using 300 lb Arches watercolour paper, one of the finest papers you can buy. It is NOT “bristol paper”, a very cheap non-acid free utility paper which is totally un-suited to watercolour painting, especially using this technique. You need to use 100% cotton/rag paper - usually 140 lb or heavier to achieve a quality painting. Top quality papers are available virtually everywhere in the United States. If not in a local art supply store, then on line through many different sites. Purchase the best paper you can afford and then the best paints and a brush or two that fit your budget. You only need about 6-8 tubes of paint to start. These can always be added to, one colour at a time if necessary, to build up a nice palette of colours eventually. Do some research and then just buy some supplies and “go to town” with your creations. I wish you all the luck in wherever the art leads you. 💖🙏🏼💖 👵🏻🐾💕🇨🇦
I love your work and I am amazed by your technique! I retired a few months ago and signed up for watercolor painting in my local community center. I am wondering what type of paper you use to achieve your masterpieces. Can you share? Thank you so very much!
And that's why we love watercolor... Stunning!
Thank you Alexandra
Fabulous technique, you make it look so effortless, but I can see your heart and soul in your work. I cannot wait to see more from you! Thank you
Thank you Aubrey!

The tape is old-fashioned with glue, You have to wet it to activate it. You can buy it in all artists shops if they have watercolours.
Love it. You make it look so easy, I sometimes think I can do that! We'll see. lol
This is very good
@Thomas Greg I'm fine, having a day off work and looking for ideas for painting, I'm a humble beginner

Lucky you - good observation!
STUNNING TECHNIQUE....TFS....:)
Hello Lena, may I ask you how do you prepare your paper to stop it from buckling with so much water added please?
I wet the paper as you see in the beginning of the video. Then I wait 5 to 10 minutes. Then I put old-fashioned tape all around and wait another maybe 10 minutes til the paper is stretched. Then it won't buckle when you paint on it.
Wow. Great work and beautiful.
Thank you!!
🌹
Beautiful as always could you list your materials such as type and weight of paper?
Dear James. It is listed above - and good luck!!
Hahaha Sorry, I was so mesmerized I missed it. Thank you.
Can't wait to see more❤️❤️
What would you like to see the most?
Lena Gemzøe I love what you do and would like to see landscapes as well as any other topic that fits this technique. Thanks for asking!
Love this! Great background sound too.
Thank you!
What kind is the tape?
Mostly I use Scotch or Tesa - cheap tape makes too many problems.
Tusind tak Lena, skønt at have fundet dig her på RUclips! Du er en inspiration, og jeg glæder mig til at prøve din teknik!
Tak skal du ha! - og husk: Gå straks i gang! Held og lykke!!
AWESOME
Are your big flat brushes a synthetic? If so what sizes do you use. Are these hardware store brushes? Thank you. Wonderful paintings!
Thank you to you too Francine. My flat brushes are made of goat hair one 2/12" the other 4", but you can use a very cheap one from the supermarket!
♡♡♡♡♡♡Super!
coolest....thnx very much....!!
Thank you to you too Christine!
Incredible!!
FANTASTYCZNE! :) BRAWO!
THANK YOU!!
Is acid free cardboard paper the same as bristol paper? I cannot find cardboard paper here in the States. Your work is amazing! You are so gifted.

Fantastisk! Tusen takk!
Takk selv!!
Love it
Amazing and inspiring! Thank you!
You'r welcome!
Do you put any additives in the water to make the paint flow?
No - only lots and lots of water!!
What is clay coated paper and where can I buy it? Will hot or cold press work just as well. I love your technique.
Julie Kraut It is glitted cardboard 400-700 gr not shining. Not made for watercolour. The problem is to get it acid free.
Amazing, thank you!
Muchas gracias!
I loved 🤗
Thank you Tanya!
Wuuuuunderschöööön 💗💗💗💗💖
Vieeeeeelen daaaaaaank!
I love your work and I am amazed by your technique! I retired a few months ago and signed up for watercolor painting in my local community center. I am wondering what type of paper you use to achieve your masterpieces. Can you share? Thank you so very much!
Thank you Danielle. In this example I use cold pressed watercolour paper made of cotton 300 g grain fin. Good luck with your watercolour painting!
Danielle Malka In this video I use common watercolour paper 300g. I retired myself, and it's a great way to use the years left for us. Good luck!!!
Sorry! 2 answers. But better than non!
Excellent
Thank you Faiza.
Hej Lena. Fantastisk smukke akvareller! Hvilen tape bruger du til at vedhæfte papiret? Kan se at du væder det med vand?
Tak Mads! Ja det er almindeligt klisterpapir men syrefrit for jeg bruger det osse til at montere mine akvareller med.
