This version was a dancefloor jump off in all the happening underground and commercial spots in NYC back in da day.....You couldn't escape this even if you tried.....A true NYC dance classic which still holds up to this day....
Timeless, classic and fun. Huge worldwide hit: danced to it anywhere from Gazi gay bars in Athens to top of the speakers at April's Exit, Amsterdam. No one wanted it to end.
Deborah Cooper the fierciest vocal diva on any club anthem. Along the lines of Loletta Holloway, Martha Wash, and Jennifer Holiday has carved a niche of her strong vocal talents that reaches beyond the club dance floor and pulls listeners into a whole different realm of enjoyment. Purely in a class by herself.
this is a legendary "banger"...and to me, its this generation's version of Aretha Franklin's "Respect". If Deborah Cooper never recorded another song, she did well by this one. And her original, cant be duplicated..at all.
Absolutely flawless, impeccable production. A song I'll take to my grave with so many happy memories. On a podium, lost in the many, many amazing moments of this masterpiece. The bass, the drum pattern, the vinyl scratch, the scat chant…I could go on and on.
I cannot agree more. I know this track since its release in 1991 and back then I already "knew" this was something special. It blew my mind, even I was only 15 years old. Analyzing it now again, I understand why I found it special back then... the build-up and the introduction of instruments is so non-standard, it's almost as if jazz musicians where asked to make a house track. For example: the ride cymbal building up and then replacing it with a cowbell like tingle sound. And the shakers going from high pitched to low... it's so f*ing sofisticated. And the la-la-dee vocals... abstract and so spot on with the minor tone. This all surprised me 32 years ago and it proved to be still after more than 3 decades. It's just perfect in its refreshing and surprising variations of sounds that this makes really the best (mellow) house track ever IMHO.
Davi Cole RIP Sir, you and Robert brought us mere mortals on to the dance-floors across the globe in harmony, they were better days amigos.. Respect due amigos x x
RIP David Cole, love him, and his keyboard mixes and ovedubs! Clivilles, all my respect!! C+C, I miss you!! This is all I have to keep going!!!!! I am a proud member of the C+C Music Factory Family.
Having DJ'd most of my life from teenage to fatherhood LOL) i appreciate many great songs. This one remains at the top of my play list and I share with as many people as possible. May he rest in peace. MUSIC IS GREAT AND EVERLASTING ❤❤
OMG! Every Friday & Saturday limousines packed the street. No amount of palm sweat( &&) to the Doorman could get you inside. You were in or you were gone!
Sounds like a couple of the clubs in Edmonton at around 1992 and in 1993. An extended version of this song, back then would have pushed it over the edge!
Cooper started as female vocalist for the Fatback Band, then as lead female vocalist and member of disco/R&B band Change (1981-1985) where she made several hits. In the 1990s she was part of C+C Music Factory as both a lead and back up vocalist resulting with several # 1 hits including "Deeper Love", "Pride" and "Keep It Comin" (Dance Till You Cant Dance
In Greensboro, NC at Encore and house parties, we jammed to this. There were whistles, high pitched voices, tambourines, shouting and any other form of praise
The drag queens in Chicago to to wear this OUT!!! How they did this entire remix was crazy!! They would get all my coins!! We called them the KEEP IT COMIN girls. Lol. Oh what time to be alive!!!
Mamma quanto e'bella sin dal primo giorno l'ascolto poi la riascolto e'la riascolto come il primo giorno :-) grazie ragazzi!!!un abbraccio da parte mia :-)
Chile I remember this in the clubs and we'd tear Catch One up. No offense to Ms. Franklin who did a fierce version too, but sometimes it's nice to stick with the original. The memories are better. Miss you Mr. Cole.

Ma come si fa... 1991 - 2019 ogni volta che l’ascolto mi viene la pelle d’oca. L’essenza della house.

Stealing, dealing

'Cause I've got a deeper love
A deeper love
A deeper love inside
I've got a deeper love
A deeper love
Deeper love inside
And I call it
Pride...

It was a smart and massive business move to get Aretha to bring this underground hit to mainstream, making it a major hit across the globe! 🌏
She sounded terrible tho
