Awesome video! I wished I fished more when I lived in California, never fished lake Casitas but it’s one on the many lists I have when I go back on vacation.
Hiya. I was fishing from my kayak on Lake Piru today (January 21) and it was crazy hard. The wind was so bad my offshore ocean kayak (Viking ProFish Reload) was struggling. My line kept getting tangled in my rudder and every time I fixed my line tangles the kayak spun off towards the dam at a high rate of speed. Paddling against that wind/current was crazy hard. I gave up at around noonish, I think. As I was recovering from exhaustion at the boat launch, I could not help but notice you and your girl pull up. Your Megabass Boat and matching truck are hard to miss. I wanted to say hi but was too tired to walk over. Paddling at less than 1 mile an hour from the dam to the launch and then having to hit open water by the pumps (just to the right of the launch) just destroyed me. To think I actually went to Piru because the ocean was too rough...... Lol!!! Anyways I was the black and white kayak just to the right as you were launching. Hope you did better than me. I failed to even fish. I did struggle with it from 7 to 12, but really beached the kayak and did some terrible shore fishing instead of my usual kayak fishing. Hope you and your lady had fun, sorry I just couldn't walk over there, my whole body hurt and my hands were cramped from paddle grip.....
Hey Jeff!!! Yeah man it was a little bumpy today, especially for a yak! Dang man I don’t doubt that at all… the fishing was brutal, still trying to get used to the set up and the new system so did a bunch of graphing around and not lot of fishing. I was marking fish in the 30ft range chasing around shad balls but they were too interested in anything. All good brotha, I appreciate you dropping a comment man, wish we got to chat. Good job Matty! Casitas is such a nice lake and campground. I haven’t seen it for a couple years but looks like the fishing is still excellent. Congratulations!
How long is the fluoro leader you guys are using? I spooled mine with about 20' but it messes up casting with a spinning rig. Can you get away with a rod length of fluoro to braid? Thanks!
Dude! Yet, another reason why I'm trippin on fishing my first tournament! If I catch a 3 pounder, I doubt I'll be able to stay as quiet as you guys do!!! Just gotta keep telling myself that I'm doing it primarily because I love bass fishing and I want to learn how to do it better. Thanks cuz I'll be out there on Casitas as a non boater with VCBC on the 29th!!! It's gonna be an adventure!
