a) The broad end i.e the sternal end is placed medially while the acromial end is placed laterally
b)The medial 2/3 of the shaft must be convex anteriorly and the lateral 1/3 of the shaft must be concave anteriorly
c) The superior surface of the entire shaft should be smooth. Remember the inferior surface is rough because of the clavicular notch, subclavian groove, conoid tubercle and trapezoid ridge.
