In Lanarkshire the roundabout was a “joy wheel”. I look at the people in these foties and most are long gone, a road too we must travel. What hard lives they had.

Every time I see or visit Argyle Arcade, I'm reminded about the "down and out" fellow in the 70's who always threw a brick through the window of H Samuel on xmas eve, so that he could get his turkey dinner in the police cell the next day. The thing is, he always wrapped the brick in xmas wrapping paper..... pure class 😂

H Samuel should have offered him his Xmas dinner.

Colin, as far as I remember, H Samuel did offer to give him his dinner or give him some money but he refused. He enjoyed his xmas at the police station. Those windows aren't cheap so you can see them want to keep him happy but he would throw the brick and wait to be arrested.

Great photos and really enjoy the nostalgia trip.
I’ve noticed recently the black screen notification of where the next photo is.
Can this be removed as slows down the photos and takes the fun away from guessing where it is.
    Keep up the good work

People have asked for info about pics, so I'll do both with and without info.

I was working in a shop almost under the Kingston bridge in 1976 and I dont remember it not being finished..so I googled it and it was opened in 1970..so the pic at 13.16 is the wrong date...and yes.. you would think i had better things to be doing with my time

I think it's a flaw on the photograph, if not, I'll blame the sminternet. Amazing eyesight.

I worked in the Co-op buildings you can see behind the bridge in 1975 and the bridge was well complete then. The Ford Transit van in shot is a 1970's model, not that it proves anything either way because it could be 5 years old. Some of the kids are wearing flared trousers which I remember wearing in 1975 with my platform shoes (blush) so I reckon the date is correct.

@@brecklanderyeah I think its a illuminated street light masquerading as a hole in the bridge...As an apprentice I helped wire up the fuels pumps in the filling station in the co op building..or hypermarket as it was known
