Me during the intro : "FINALLY, war is gonna truly begin ! But we're not gonna see real big fights, it's gonna be little ones, people progressing, and for sure no one is gonna die." I should know now, with time and experience, that when I say that in intro, you can be sure someone is gonna die for real. And here, it's MY Queen, Rhaenys… I'm surprised I didn't cry more than that because she was truly my favorite character, the only one with whom I truly connected.
Maybe because she announced to us her own death, her sacrifice, when she chose to stay into that fight, by loyalty to her side. Maybe because she had a good death, with honor and dignity. Maybe because this fight was so amazing, looking magnificent on screen (and not only thanks to the dragons), written and edited to be stressful. Now, for sure I love all of the other characters, but really for how they are written, not because I have a special thing for them. Alicent like Rhaenyra, they have my heart like that. But here, Aemond… My brain is gonna continue to love you, but my heart might hate you for some time. Oh, and we're okay that you killed your brother, you killed the King ? Like, it's a fact, a decision you took ? OKAY.

Great reaction. Arguably the greatest episode of the series so far because every scene mattered. Criston proved himself a great commander and Aemond showed how much better he was than aegon in every way. The reason y Rhaenys didn’t retreat is because it would show that the blacks don’t support their allies and with how the pr with the blacks is already so low she knew they couldn’t afford it. Team GREEN, but RIP my favorite live action female Targaryen Rhaenys Targaryen.
Fun fact: when Lord Darklyn was about to be executed, he called out Criston as a bad Kingsguard specifically (“you’re not fit for a white cloak”). The core identity of House Darklyn in canon is being “the Kingsguard house". More Darklyns have served in the Kingsguard than any other house. The white shields we can see in their sigil stand for the sons of House Darklyn who wore the white cloak. We see one of them, Ser Steffon, grieving for Duskendale and his father when he returns to Dragonstone with Rhaenyra.
It’s a nice little detail that the writers added, and shows that they really know the world they’re writing about. I was also glad about it since the Darklyns are my favorite secondary house, but we get so little content on them.

Very emotional reaction, no-one was ready for Rhaenys to fall in battle but that was one of the only ways she would have wanted to go out.
She totally accepted it. She knew that by going back in the fight she would die, but she chose to not give up, to fight for her side, because she knew that in time of war, you can't show a weakness and just give up, you have to try and to hope for a lucky opening and maybe succeed.

Laura I'd like to remind you that Rhaenys, your queen, killed hundreds of innocent civilians in ep9 last season. She literally killed more innocents than Aegon and showed no drop of guilt.... Rhaenyra is guilty of many crimes too. The show treats their crimes as girl boss moment...
