Just letting you guys know some information J.Cole is jhopes biggest influence/inspiration and muse. JHopes album "HOPE WORLD" is a play on J.Coles first album "Cole World". The BTS song "Born Singer" is also a play on J.Coles song "Born Sinner". The Avirex fit jhope is wearing is also homage to J.Cole. The street jhope was on at the beginning is the SAME EXACT street J.Cole filmed his "SIMBA" music video on. And jhope dancing during Coles verse is because jhope before BTS used to dance to J.Cole songs back in the day. Even jhopes name is inspired by j.cole. The visual easter eggs and homage paid to J.Cole in this by jhope is insane. Shows his genuine love for a GOAT like J.Cole.
May I just add that jhope has also achieved so much as an artist by himself! BTS are all great musicians. Specifically for jhope, his recent Lollapalooza gig was 🔥 1 hour of electrifying performance, with songs from his 2 mixtapes. So proud of Hobi.
This is great but just FYI, his stage name is actually based on his own name, Jung, not Jcole lol. j-hope, h for hoseok! I don't know how this information is getting spread but it is not true and he's never stated that's what it was based on. The rest of what you said is really good though. :)
@@mimilapin Because its common sense lol it can't be a coincidence that his biggest idol is J. Cole and his name is J. Hope he most likely got the inspiration to name himself that from J. Cole along with what you mentioned.
Never knew this J Hope guy but after this and the comments of everybody explaining some thinks I get mad respect for him a true artist! This is a beautiful song and I get the feeling that will be timeless
EVERYTIME BTS drops something they get you in your feelings. Especially their last group songs from last summer. They did YET TO COME with Anderson Paak live and that songs right there with the back up vocalist 😭😭😭😭😭😭 sigh. They are amazing honestly.
I highly encourage you to look into J-Hope and the rest of BTS. They all have an amazing story and they worked so hard to be where they are. Even those who don't like their music should be able to at least respect them as people. But, in my opinion, their music is also awesome. 😊
Knowing his extreme love for J. Cole, it makes me realize how everything in the mv and the music is important. The smallest details, Jhope starting from the street dancing while J. Cole raps. Then at the end, he comes up to the top and meets J. Cole. It's a homage to his biggest inspiration for pursuing music. A homage to J. Cole. And it's amazing to think JHope is the most successful J. Cole fan lmao. And I like how Cole have more lines and majority of the time, Hope is just vibing and street dancing to Cole. The mv tells so much story for me.
J Hope and BTS are actually really truly artists. It's unfortunate that people think they're just "some boy band", not giving them a real listen. Their B side songs are better than their title tracks imo. The lyricism, message and meanings they put into the vast majority of their songs- truly inspiring. They sing and rap about things that actually matter. And to top that, no one does live performances like them.
Jhope started out at age 10 as a street dancer and used to dance to JColes songs and has been very vocal about how influential J Cole has been on his life.
@Jerry Murillo Bro shut up who cares she just telling a backstory of jhope for people who are wondering not u just skip this comment if u don't care 🤷♀️ not hard.
@Jerry Murillo ik there's a lot and there's no stopping it and it could get annoying but it doesn't mean u can just say no one cares. And it doesn't mean u have to look at this comment. Like I already know bts well and so I'm not gonna waste my time and look at every comment on here knowing it's about the same thing.
Cole won’t just feature for anyone like that. He knows that j hope genuinely respects him, actually crazy how humble these bts boys are never seen a more humble artist than them period
J-Hope composed and wrote the Song and his Producer Pdogg did the Mix. They got Jermaine's lines, 4 days before they shot the Music Video, J-Hope wrote the Song back in November. J-Hope was a street Dancer, after listening to Friday Night Lights, he started writing lyrics and making his own Beats. He always mentioned J-Cole in his Songs, and in general, as his inspiration to Start Music. His mix Tape Hope World is a Name play on J-Coles Cole World as well. That's why him dancing to Jermaine's rap, is pretty special because that was his Childhood, the Song a goodbye because J-Hope is going to the Military soon, it's mandatory is South Korea. The reason the MV was filmed in NY is that his musical roots and his dance (Hip Hop) started in New York, he always gives Credit to the OG's. In his recent Album Jack in the Box... he sampled ODB, and at his Lollapalooza Set he had a huge screen that showed his Face to honor him. If you wanna check out some of his Songs, I recommend Arson, Airplane Stop, Daydream, Hangsang, Safety Zone, What if, More, Baseline.
J-Hope is a hip-hop and k-pop artist coexistent of each other. It’s interesting seeing J.Cole fans perceive Jhope as playing into hiphop or ‘wearing’ it. Like the immediate assumption is that he can't possibly be a hiphop artist, but he's just trying look/sound the part and step away from his K-pop image. But J-Hope is hiphop. You comment on the clothes he wears, the jacket and the style - but don't seek to ask the question 'why.' BTS were personally mentored by Coolio, Tony Jones and Warren G before their debut and they spent time in America training and understanding the roots of the genre. They operate so highly in so many different areas (genres, skills such as dancing, producing etc..) because it's survival out there. They needed to. Kpop as a whole is a misunderstood genre- it’s a culmination of many genres which result in Popular Korean music (K-Pop.) It does not come with a distinct style - but it’s brutally misinformed from the West because of the attention heuristic of Kpop groups, ‘gangnam style,’ and Hallyu wave in which people think it does. I see criticisms saying they bought this collab with J.Cole, which is surface level commentary. BTS tell meaningful stories through all of their content - which is why the fans get so up-in-arms when perspectives from the West try to simplify their story (there's a huge gap in knowledge from outsider audiences.) J.Cole is an integral artist to J-Hope's story, who he is as an artist, dancer, producer etc.. J.Cole is the 'idol's' idol. BTS having faced so much discrimination , racism, sabotage, manipulation and hate particularly in America - a $1M ticket is not going to stop them from telling their story and creating meaningful content relevant to themselves and the fan's story. People are confused why they would launch this random collab and produce a 'happy but forgettable' track - it's because they don't need to release music just to make hits, they did that already. When it comes to BTS it is not just the music that speaks, but also everything else listed above. This wasn't for the charts but the arts. And J.Cole fans, this wasn't just for you ,and we urge you to see the other side. J-Hope is leaving in a few months for his mandatory Military service as South Korea is still in tensions with North Korea - every man by the age of 30 has to enlist and serve at least once. He will be saying goodbye to the fans for a while, and what he knows his career as J-Hope and BTS to be right now. This is one of the rare moments he gets allocated time to function as a solo artist and console his personal journey - he chose to conclude this era with his idol. In which he is seen dancing underground and on the street to J.Cole's rapping (where he started at 10 years old) but he still meets him at the top.
Yes thanks for making this comment and i m 💯 % with you like really i read what my mind was thinking and my heart was feeling♡♡♡ J hope is so amazing as artist and human being and i love for him that he could make with his idol a song= wow this must be an fu☆king awesome experience and feeling for hobby💜
Wow... it's not that serious. Get a life, maybe even go outside? The fanboys of this BOY BAND are such a weird cult of fanatics. Get off your knees, this guy doesn't care about you and you seem to be in love or something...
@@RayD_19 why are you agitated by others who feel free to express their passions and engage in discourse that is stimulating to them. The people who write these comments are not just obsessed and delusional fans, but also real members of society - academics, teachers, writers, medical staff. You should learn to love more Ray. It will do you some good.
@bronte are you crying to a stranger on the internet right now? 🤦♂️ this is what happens to adults that still listen to boy bands... imagine being so mentally weak and emotionally fragile that you'd get so upset defending a group of millionaires lol
You guys have been around for a while. I'm surprised you never reacted to the song Wale did with RM in 2018 called "Change." Now that track will go down in history as one of the most underappreciated collabs ever.
@@PadreMortalis it’s hip hop song from RM with Wale.. RM before BTS is active as underground rapper( so does SUGA the other BTS rapper) They got lot of shit from korean Hip Hop community because they chose to join a pop idol boy band.. but he /they never strayed away frm hip hop tho.. all RM and SUGA mixtapes are 🔥
@@PadreMortalis Okay but Change is rap jazz and its in a whole category of its own. If you listen you'll see. Some of the best bars out of Wale ever and I love the guy.
I've also been watching your videos for a minute. Thank you for checking out this song from BTS's J-Hope and J. Cole. This is a track J-Hope put out and dedicated to fans before he enlists in the Korean military. He's a huge fan of Cole, and has said he's a source of inspiration for him. They met at a festival here in the states and were able to link up after. I hope you can check out more of their stuff in the future if it ever peaks your interest.
I didn't know he was releasing another version with more of j-hope rapping.💜 Nice. Not that I don't like J Cole. However I wanted another verse of Hobi on the track.
"Jhope really tryin to appeal to the rap side"...... He IS a rapper! one of the three members of BTS, who are all rappers. And he wasn't putting on an 'image' to appeal to the crowd..that's just Jhope being Jhope, fashionable, charismatic and amazingly talented.
They met for the first time this past July when Jhope headlined Lollapalooza. Jhope just released a solo album, "Jack in the Box" and a documentary called "Jhope in the Box" where you can see how the two finally met. If you want to check it out, BTS did an unofficial cover of "Born Sinner" called "Born Singer", in 2014 and last year JCole gave them permission to release if officially so it is on their anthology album "PROOF". They did a live performance of it recently while they were in Vegas for the Grammys. They also did their new track "Yet To Come" and Anderson Paak played the drums for it. RM, BTS' leader and main rapper, also just released an album titled "Indigo" and it features Anderson Paak, Erykah Badu, and others. :)
This collab is so damn cool. I’ve been a fan of both JCole and the boys from BTS for years. To have JCole jump on a track with J-hope, knowing how much J-hope has been inspired by him makes me so damn proud. I’m gonna miss J-hope while he does his military service, but this was honestly the perfect song to leave us while he’s gone
@@Lol-lj4qz y'all just ignorant, bfr. My mand has the writing and flow, he has the producer credits, he has the hip-hop history knowledge and respect for it. Like bfr.
remember j.cole's MV "SIMBA" ? the alley where he walked is the same alley where jhope walked on the first scene of this MV. respect for jhope for giving the floor to his idol, it's just amazing that j.cole's verse resonates well with J-Hope's lyrics from his songs "ARSON" & "MORE" Love the way this collaboration came out, I'm happy for j-hope, him as a j.cole fan cause from being a street dancer, loving hiphop and become a rapper, this is a dream come true for him. I'm surely gonna miss this man's positivity once he enlisted in the military 🪖
Jhope is 1 of the 3 rappers in BTS, writer, producer and dance leader. He started off as a street dancer and learned how to rap once in the group creating his own style. I’m a hip hop lover and usually look for meaning in a song by looking up lyrics and breaking them down. Someone suggested I would love BTS if I opened my mind to different languages. So I started with the rap line and never looked back! Just with the rappers alone they collectively have 5 mixtapes and 2 (so far) solo albums. Not counting what they do in the group. Definitely worth checking them out.
Now knowing that J hope was a big cole fan, seeing him dance on coles verse was actually amazing to see I read that Hope used to dance to cole songs. And now he has a track with him, truly inspiring.
This is bigger than you know jhope idol is JCOLE. Hes biggest fan and is going to the military this collab was the biggest thing to happen. jhope is one of 3 very talented rappers in BTS. He made this beat and the melody and his producer did the mix. jhope grew up with hip hop included the other rappers of BTS check out their cyphers and jhope album Jack in the Box huge 90s influence and an ODB sample. The rappers in BTS are rapper rappers and they know their history look into them more they do all generes not just pop that's what they are known for in America but real fans ARMY know that their lyrics are very deep and they write and produce their own music
Yesss BTS rappers are top notch! These reactors are open-minded and genuine. I really hope they check out more BTS, they can start from these collabs (also Change by RM ft. Wale), or the more heavy sounds, since they are already listening some rock and metal music.
@@wild813 oh yea fasho, I kept the hook after Cole verse. But everything before Cole verse, chopped that right up outta there. You better believe it buddy.
I’ve watched y’all for years for hip hop videos but I’m ARMY. You’re wrong about him needing to tread lightly and cater. They’re culture in general is to be aware of others but J Hope as well as the rest of the members take their chances. They aren’t known for keeping us comfortable. Lol like at all.
I think lyrically, they might have picked up on something true. Not necessarily in regards to treading lightly and catering to fans or the industries, but in regards to J Cole as a matter of respect and admiration. J-Hope knows that J Cole is a Titan in the rap scene and pays his due respect and “treads lightly” in regards to respecting that rap and the culture surrounding it is because of artists like J Cole (and, of course, other pioneers of the genre). J-Hope’s roots are hip hop/rap, but he doesn’t forget where the roots of hip hop and rap come from.
@@fangirlalliecatI can definitely see this and I think it might even be doubly true here because he is working with J.Cole in particular who is in Hobi's own words his muse so he would likely want to be extra respectful of him as one of if not the artist that he looks up to the most in the industry.
A little context here. J-hope is leaving us for his military enlistment and we won't see him for like 1.5 yrs, so this is sort of a goodbye song for now. For harder heavier rap, you can listen to his recent album Jack in the box, especially Arson and More.
He’s dancing like that too cuz his roots is in street dancing not cuz it’s a k pop thing. He also dances to a lot of j coke music and this is his idol so it’s a full circle moment for him before he goes to the military
Guys I've watched y'all's vids for years! It's great to see you react to this song!! j-hope did J. Cole right by giving him so many bars. j-hope has looked up to this man since he was a little boy. He and the other BTS members worked from the streets literally to where they are, so seeing this MV for the first time was a spiritual experience for me.
Jhope and pdogg (long time BTS producer) created this beat with JCole in their minds. It is a song for fans, both Jhope and JCole talk to their fans both on topics are relevant for each, Jhope and his military enlistment and JCole and his future plans. The vibe is uplifting in a way but bittersweet. I think is exactly what we all needed. The most precious part in the MV is Jhope dancing to every word in JCole’s verse. That’s what Jhope really intended, having JCole on his track to just dance to it. Much respect on this collab.
Loved how in depth you were about little details like him incorporating his dancing and the early 90s influences!a lot of other creators miss a lot of that stuff 💜
Thank you for checking "on the street" by JHope with J. Cole. BTS started as a hiphop group. They have the 3 best, most talented rappers - J Hope, RM (the BTS leader), and SUGA. The video is full of meaning and it is a "gift" of JHope for us, ARMY (BTS' fans) before he enlists in the military to join JIN, the 1st BTS member to enlist. JHope is a multi-talented artist- started as a dancer (hiphop and street thus the title of this song) and is a big J. Cole fan. If you get a chance to explore BTS' early work, you will not miss the big influence of hiphop. The rappers' catalogue is also worth checking! Thank you from a BTS ARMY
To me personally this song is basically my introduction to J Hope/BTS and honestly it was a just a cool vibe to the whole MV and song in general and i agree with Ryan and George about Cole trying to wrestle with the idea of retiring and just living his life in peace and then you get a bullshit list like billboard posted and then you just have to remind people who he is and how he deserves to be in the top 10 conversation of all time. Also yeah Cole really doesn't have to do a song like this, but again i feel like Ryan is correct in saying he is trying to do something bigger and when worlds collide like this IMO its great to see the possibilities that can start rising Dreamville x BTS? different artist/groups its just crazy to think, but yeah safe, good vibe type of song to blow up worldwide
Jhope and J.Cole are both wrestling with their feelings about career. Jhope released a solo album, Jack in the Box, last year, which included the title track "Arson"- where he takes inventory of his career, wonders if he should leave before the applause dies down, and questions whether he should put out the fire or burn brighter. The two met over the summer at Lollapalooza, and it was a culmination of Jhope's dream. He grew up on boom bap, street dancing to old school hip hop, and has often referenced J.Cole as his inspiration.
J Coles verse is insane, there were so many things he said that in a way could also apply to BTS. Last year they went on a break to focus on their solo careers and also because they have to start their mandatory military enlistment and the kpop media went crazy and has been trying to find the "next bts" since then as if they were retiring or something. Obviously they have very different paths, but its such a shame that haters and even the music industry will always go after great artists if you don't play into their games
j.cole verse resonates well with J-Hope's lyrics from his song called "ARSON" ("should I put out the fire or burn even brighter?") and "MORE" (for wanting some more or continue to his career or craft) please check these two j-hope's tracks, they're good. 🤘 Love your reactions and thank you for being open-minded to other artist j-hope who's in different races and speaks different languages. 💜
Yes, I have been thinking this too. I also felt like the line from STOP where he says we live in a smart world but people aren’t smart (paraphrasing here) is similar to cole talking about his friend I imagine he checked out Jack in the Box and the lyrics because there were definitely a few parallel themes even though they each came at from their own experiences.
I think on first listen if you know nothing about J-hope and his history it will be hard to fully appreciate this song. J-Hope has said often that J-Cole was his muse. He grew up dancing in the 90s to J-Cole's music (recreated in the video) and his stage name is even a homage to him. He is a complex and a true hip hop talent but chose to make J-Cole the star of this track intentionally. BTS also have a song called Born Singer which is an adaptation of J-Cole's Born Sinner. This collab is the culmination of one of J-hope's biggest dreams in life at an important crossroads in his life. You said he knows where his bread is buttered and that is somewhat accurate but not in the way you meant it. The song is his goodbye to Army before he goes off to the actual army in Korea (mandatory for all men). He intentionally has lyrics that express his gratitude and the song in general represents his hopeful and cheerful outlook toward the future. As I expressed, if you don't know J-Hope you won't fully get the song but glad you gave it a chance.
j-Hope started out as a street dancer, he began rapping once he got in the group but he has mastered it. J Hope is one of the nicest artists of this generation. He always makes sure to pay homage and give legends their flowers. He has a song called Chicken Noodle Soup, I’m sure yk what song that is. Recently he sampled Wu Tang Clan on his song “What if” off of his album Jack in the Box…he really loves hip hop and the culture. All in all he is a all-rounder, he raps, sometimes sings, writes, produces, and his specialty dances. Thank you for such an open minded reaction ! Cole was so great on this.
The fans have always been important to BTS for a decade. They are not like the American artists that you used to. They interact with the fans a lot on weverse live. They came from a company almost bankrupt to where they are today because of their fans who brought them to America, not the media. If you know their background and history, you will realize they are genuinely not doing it for the show especially they are still the same humble artists after a decade. JHope is a rapper and he's versatile not just pop. This is the last song for the fans before he enlists into military.
Listen...I'm 48 years old, and I've been a J-Hope biased ARMY since 2015. My husband tolerates my love of K-pop and especially BTS, but just tonight...I told him about this song, and he said, "With J. Cole? Okay, I'll listen." He liked it. He only listens to classic rock and old school rap like Biggie era, but even he knew this was big. Thank you guys for reacting! I also appreciate that yall give independent artists exposure on your videos. Good for you! ❤️❤️❤️
This beat is really growing on me.. how does it sound like a classic beat but also a very happy(if that makes sense) beat? Cole did his thing like always 🙏
Jhope been working on this song since last Oct/Nov after meeting Cole for the first time at Lolla. Jhope told us when working on this song, he has Jcole solely in his mind.. jhope came up with the whistling tune and from then work on it with his producer for the beats etc.. boombap and record scratching is very much jhope signature plastered accross his first mixtape Hope World and his debut album Jack In The Box.. he grew up dancing to boombap, hence the classic feels and jhope is also known as Sunshine for his sunny personality in BTS.. so 'happy' is part of his personality as well.. but boy, he can go dark as well, no doubt about that.
I’m shocked how many people have been sleeping on BTS/Hope yet talk about being hip hop fans. They’re essentially a group heavily rooted in hip hop that just HAPPENS to be Korean and have a widely diverse range. Rags to riches, self-made, genuine. Humble men. They’re huge for a reason and it’s not because they’re “some k pop group”. Y’all are missing out big time if you choose to not explore more of BTS’ work. Edit: some of y’all need to chill. It’s really not that deep if you don’t want to enjoy more music, no one’s forcing you to do anything. Do you, I guess. Hit dogs really do holler. My god, the ignorance is immaculate.
Just like any other creator you want to build your community and just because BTS has one that sells out stadium’s does not diminish the last ten years of them working hard to get there. Jhope didn’t wake up one day and decide to scratch a few dollars together. He worked on this song for a long time. He does not have to chase after ARMYS affection. Many people have been ARMYS for ten years we built up a connection just like any other artist would with their community. He is not rapping about having to do fan service at the start of the song. He is going away for military service for close to two years. It’s a reminder for those who care for him….walk lightly and remember he’s always been here for us.
I would like to recommend BTS - Born Singer, it's an adaptation of J Cole - Born Sinner, J Cole allowed them to do their adaptation and it's brilliant. I genuinely think you'd enjoy it.
j-hope is a South Korean Rapper, he makes his own music. he's a great lyricist and a marvelous dancer. j-hope is joining the Military Service soon (it's mandatory for Koreans), so "On The Street" is his goodbye song for his fans until he returns in some years. He used to dance to J Cole's songs when he was a street dancer, his favorite album is Cole's album "Friday Night Lights" , an inspiration to start making his own beats. Also, he named his first mixtape as "Hope World" after "Cole World", even now, he showed the big respect he has for JCole, he gave many bars to JCole while j-hope was dancing to his bars, as he used to do when he was an underground dancer. j-hope is a hip hop lover who has been experimenting on many directions to his music, he recently released his solo album "Jack in The Box", its really an album for hip-hop lovers. To end, j-hope joining JCole for meeting at the roof is really meaningful and doing a song with his muse, as j-hope said, its really especial. Fun facts: They met at Lollapalooza, where j-hope was a headliner, Their meeting is on "j-hope in the Box" as documentary at Disney+ j-hope was whistling, and he loved the melody, so he went to studio and recorded it, thats how this song started.
Jhope being a long life fan he payed homage to J.Cole's video's "Simba". He's also enlisting in the military so it's sort of a homage to his fans. J.Cole dealing with something similar, with the "The Fall Off" and retirement. Both top passionate artists coming together to share a message. "It's always for us." This blend of cultures, west and east.
BTS is HEAVILY influenced by black culture (i.e. hip hop and r&b). To be honest, it was BTS and J Hope that put me up on J Cole. Music is POWERFUL to bring these artists and reactors from different cultures together. Tfs
@@collinyt3601 some of my friends become hip hop heads thru BTS , cause they paid homage to a lot of hip hop artists and name dropping them in songs, they dug in and became a fan of them
@@collinyt3601 I did, from their lyrics that explicitly mentioned "Cole World" and the covers they made. I don't live in the US though and have just recently learned a bit about the roots of hip hop. BTS has been passionate about sharing their influences and inspirations.
I did too... I was never a fan of hip-hop. I just couldn't get the appeal. But now, after BTS, I've come to appreciate this culture so much and see the beauty in it. Because of the way they always talked about hip-hop and their idols, and because of the way they rapped and conveyed their thoughts/emotions through rap, I understood that rap can be poetic. Or rather that rap IS poetic. I'd been exposed to modern rap and thought this indecent mumble rap is all there is to hip-hop. And quite frankly I hated it. But they showed me the magic of lyrical rap and old-school hip-hop. That's how I started to start loving it and dug into their inspirations and all and found JCole among many others as well. I'm still just getting started though. I only found BTS itself last year, before that I disliked them as well. i didn't know they were so good.
Yep. & J.Cole is an inspiration for him so it was actually really cool of J.Cole to jump on the track and put everything together it does hits you in the feels thinking about it but it's one of those things they all said that they are gonna go and serve there country when it's time to so. Respect to that. Cuz if anyone can fight to get out of it it's BTS but their not going too.
It's crazy seeing so many Hip Hop fans be late to the game when it comes to BTS especially because so many big named Hip Hop artists have worked with them. From Snoop Dogg, Nicki Minaj, Krizz Kaliko, Wale, Juice Wrld, Desiigner, Megan Thee Stallion. Hell BTS were even directly mentored by Warren G & Coolio back in the day.
The Snoop dog collaboration was underwhelming to me, I really want to see The rap line shine on the track but it turned out to be a bubble gum pop song and I'm not a fan of The Niki collab because of her reputation of Vulger rap and How basic she was on idol.
I mean I knew who they were, I just never really got into their music until afterwards. Theres just so many artists to get into nowadays that I can't keep up lol
I think hope impressed jcole enough that cole agreed to feat. This was a gift to jhopes fans before he leaves for the military. Hope said he wanted to go back to his roots which is 90s hip hop and street dancing with this farewell song. Jhope has been referencing jcole for years in his raps. When hope met jcole last year he told him when he was young he loved Friday night lights so I think cole saw where hope was coming from that he was a real one
J Hope is joining the Korean Military Soon, it's Mandatory for Koreans, so this was his goodbye Git for Fans. He used to dance to J Cole's Songs when he was still a Street Dancer, and after a listen to Friday Night Lights, he started writing songs and making his own Beats. He even named his first Mix Tape Hope-World after Cole-World. That's also the reason he gave Jermaine so many bars in his Song, he did out of respect. Recommend Checking out his Album Jack in the Box, it's a Hip Hop Album with lots of 90s Style Beats and crazy lyrics. Songs that i recommend, Arson, More, Stop, What if (he sampled ODB on that one), Airplane and Daydream
this track really highlights what's been missing from a lot of cole's music - why he gets a lot of respect but nobody really bumps him - he needs to start using instrumentals that can stand on their own - his flow combined with this music was another level
The music was J-Hope and Pdogg oe if BTS's long time producers they made it with J. Cole in mind but also Hobi (J-Hope's nickname) was a dancer first and still is, so he wanted something he could dance to
With a collaboration BOTH sides win. For me as an Army, J-Hope does not need collaboration. He is known and loved from millions of people.🥰 He's such a beautiful human. (In&out) But for me, I have never heard of J. Cole before. And now I'm really interested in him, his work and especially I like deep meaning lyrics. I love Rap (sorry, I'm European) and know and love the best rappers, but never dig deaper in the genre. Now jhope is doing this for fans like us 🤗 ...and I love to learn day by day! As so many beautiful Armys I've met since I fell into the bunny hole...💜❤💜❤
I know what you mean and I'm also very grateful to ARMY and at the same time happy to continue falling down the rabbit hole. I know how much this collaboration means to J-Hope, and so proud he was finally able to do this with J. Cole 💜
I wish reactors would do their homework before reacting. A year after BTS debuted they went to LA in 2014 and were mentored and educated in the roots of hip-hop by Coolio, Tony Jones and Warren G. Jimin (of BTS) and Tony Jones got dressed up together in traditional Korean Hanbok and said "I love you." Later RM did a collab with Warren G. They always pay homage to their mentors and they always encourage, mentor and support those coming up behind them. Watch BTS Outro: Tear, live at Wembley, played to a two night crowd of almost 115,000. It's a heart wrenching song about their near breakup in 2018. Watch J-hopes first solo performance last year at Lollapalooza where he broke the all-time ticket sales record and played to a crowd of 100,000. Even though his album had just been released shortly before the concert, the audience in Chicago was singing along to every song in Korean. BTS have been breaking all the worldwide records for years. They are smart, talented, humble humanitarians that spread a message of love yourself, inclusivity, and most of all, hope. Most of all, they are not new, lesser or unknown. The music industry in the west is just self-centered and myopic. Everyone would benefit from expanding their view and their knowledge of what is happening creatively outside the U.S.. And I'm saying this as someone from the U.S..
I need y’all to know they’re a bigger deal beyond the Korean scene too, BTS numbers are up there with Bad Bunny, Drake, Taylor Swift & more. But I appreciate you guys checking all of this out & giving it a chance!
JHope is the 2nd member enlisting in the military soon so this song means a lot and really showcase his muse/inspiration that is JCole...his love of dancing during his childhood to songs of JCole...much love & respect.
BTS started as a hiphop group. They have a lot of hiphop songs. This collab was great. BTS is enlisting on the miltary soon and coming back as a group in 2025.
******J HOPE is one of 3 members of the Rap line of BTS. These 2 met at LOLLAPALOOZA, but J HOPE has been listening to J. COLE for years. J-HOPE is leaving music for awhile as the 2nd BTS member to enter the Army as mandated by Korean law.
Listen to HIP HOP LOVER and BORN SINGER by BTS. In hip hop lover (2014), J-hope shouts out J. Cole because they name all their influences. J-Hope literally named himself after him. BORN SINGER is the BTS adaption of BORN SINNER by J.Cole in 2013 when they debuted and J.Cole gave them permission to use it for the first track of their 9th anniversary anthology album on June 13, 2022. English lyric videos are available on youtube since ARMY translates them into every language. Thanks for listening! :)
It's cool y'all listened to this. One of my kids loves the hell outta BTS (damn I'm old) and I like J cole. I don't keep up with kpop cuz ya know, I'm old and not into pop music as when I was a young'un. But this is a cool colab to give some love to both worlds.
I'm old as well! I'm 50 & got my whole family into bts lol. They are more than just pop (fyi their Korean songs are way better than their English ones) BTS fans span all ages & genders & races, I went to their concert with my 18 yr old kid and a 77 year old friend I met in the comment section of a BTS reaction video 😂) you should check them out, unlike most "kpop" BTS write compose and produce their own music and man are their lyrics deep! What kind of music do you like? If you like rap, check out the rapline of BTS do outro Tear live! The lyrics are also deep but they sound better live. 2 of the rappers in BTS were underground rappers in Korea, and j hope was a street dancer who learned rap from suga and RM the other 2 rappers. Oh! Check out BTS hip-hop phile lyrics, they list a lot of their influences, j Cole included. 💜
I’m 57 and I’m a BTS ARMY.. i love them since 2016.. they are not like your typical K-pop… they started out as hip hop group.. they have over 300 songs and all kind of genre in there… they were the ones who made me like rap… they are amazing rappers, please ask your kids to show you OUTRO: TEAR live at wembley stadium with English subtitles a must, UGH, Ddaeng, Deachwita, Joke, Do you, More, Arson, Born singer{adaptation of JCole’s Born sinner with his approval} Mic drop, Hip hop Phile…these are just a few of their songs… your kids will be so happy to show you.. you will make their day…
@@tannie618tran7 I gotchu. I'm 46. My son loves BTS along with my daughter but her jam is Twice. Kpop group style isn't my thing though. They don't sound bad at all but it's not my jam. I'm an old school thrash metal and old school hip hop guy along with boom bap rap and in metal goth, rockabilly, doom/sludge metal. So it is what it is. My kids have their tastes. I gots mine.
@@PadreMortalis Bus BTS started as a hip hop group lol. And their base is still hip hop. As a matter of fact most of their songs are not pop. They have nothing to do with most idol music (kpop).
@@pennybleta9721 ok. It's cool that they started as a hip hop group. It's also cool that they aren't considered normal pop. But in my ears (mine only, I ain't telling you it should sound like that to you.) they sound like pop. They aren't for me. Kpop isn't my jam. But it's cool that they have a different origin than what I thought. Cool!
Another bit of information Jhope is referred to by Army as “our sun” because his smile is bright and he’s really treasured. His solo album also refers to him as in the myth of Pandora’s box that when she opened the box and released all the ills and bad into the world that the only thing left in the box was Hope that helped stopped the bad and helped her💜 so yeah we love him so much!
This is J-Hope this is what he's about, he don't front for no one. You see it how it is. J-Hope aka Hobi is BTS dancer and rapper. Whenever they do solo projects/albums it's so their fanbase can see what they're personally like. So we can know their perception of things and their thoughts and feelings. J-Hope is BTS's sunshine, the happy go lucky guy in the group but on his solo work omg this man is deep. J.Cole has been real inspo for him, you can look at his Hope World album and see it for yourself. BTS also released a version "Born Singer" in 2013 remade from "Born Sinner" from J.Cole with his permission recently. J.Cole is one of Hobi's biggest motive and muse. The song was produced by J-Hope and P.Dogg, he got J.Cole's lyrics 4days before he releasing the song. So like any Korean male they have to do 2yrs mandatory military service and Hobi has enlisted. This song is his goodbye track for the moment and his reason for J.Cole getting all those lines is so J-Hope could enjoy his last moments before going m.i.a. J.Cole was speaking for Hobi in the goodbye lines and just saying it's goodbye for the moment but he'll be back, and when he's back it'll definitely go down. Hobi is a sunshine we all definitely need at some point.
The answer to this J-Hope x J.Cole collab is in one of their songs released in 2014 - Hip Hop Phile. All 7 members, especially the rap line, have mad respect for all hip hop legends. I could not even begin to imagine the pride and joy J-hope had when he met J.Cole in the flesh, nor the fact that a collab was in the works. I truly hope this collaboration will shed light on BTS' roots and history, which all began and was largely influenced by the genre.
Wow, never thought I'd see the day you react to one of bts' rap line 😊. j-hope is a brilliant rapper and dancer (and more). I highly recommend checking out his album Jack in the Box and his set at lolla which really showcased the album and his incredible stage presence. Loved j. cole's verse on this, I'm so glad he had a lot of space to do his thing and part of his message really ties in nicely (I'm sure others have explained)
One comment: Walk lightly means to go through life without being burdened or weighed down by stress or worries. J-hope is going to take the load off so you can move more easily through your life. That’s how I interpret that line because he’s saying goodbye, thanking his fans and repaying them for their support. J-hope is a rapper as I am sure many have already said. Listen to Jack in the Box to get a feel for what he does. I recommend STOP, Arson, Safety Zone and Future to get a taste of his range. He’s very versatile and has great lyrics. As a fan, this felt like a warm goodbye hug. He has lots of other songs that are aggressive or funky or super dense lyrically. This has a different intention behind it including paying homage to Cole who inspired him as an artist. I personally love the song and thought it was a great collaboration. There are a lot of parallels with Cole’s lyrics and j-hope’s Arson and More (even though it was from a different view point). It was cool to see that conversation of two artists contemplating life changes while still being hungry. I’m pretty sure Cole must have read lyric translations to jhope’s recent album.
I was surprised to see you reacting to this one, although I should have guessed you would considering it was J.Cole. I think you'd be surprised by how varied and unsafe JHope can be (see songs like More or Arson) but he does lean more happy-go-lucky than even the other members of BTS. Have you guys considered adding foreign language music to your repertoire, whether it be k-hiphop, latin, finnish death metal or whatever? Could be interesting, although a lot of lyrical nuance gets lost in translation - so it would be extra effort to dig below the surface meaning of songs.
@Aaron Sanders it is a safe song tbh, but I think they meant his other songs are varied and more unsafe (ARSON , More etc) that you lo be surprised to hear it
I’m a BTS fan(ARMY) and I’ve followed your channel for a while now just hoping one day you might react to some BTS😂. I was so excited to watch this!! Maybe one day you could react to the BTS rapline(consisting of Jhope, RM and Suga). I would recommend a song like Outro tear, UGH or Ddaeng💜💜 And if you’re interested in more Jhope check out his songs Arson or More.
JHope made this song for his fans as he’s enlisting in his military service, to collab with one of his idols on it is such a blessing. I love how JHope have a large portion of the song to Jcole who was featuring on Jhopes song, shows the level of respect and humbleness. I hope you Check out Jhopes song Arson for a more better view of Jhopes artistry
Honestly, I know Jcole from BTS back then when they sang "Born Singer" in 2013 (Jcole "born sinner"). The fact is we from Asia know certain west singer from BTS Collaboration or cover songs, and west sometime getting famiar with BTS because of collaboration with west artists. Fair enough, right?
The theme of Cole's lyrics in this song is similar to the theme in j Hope's lyrics in his song "More". Also this song is just a farewell for now gift to his fans while he does his military service.
Jhope was a street dancer before he joined BTS. He learned to rap with RM and Suga (the other rappers in BTS who underground rappers before BTS were) his own persistence and listening to rappers like JCole and developed his own style. In Hip Pop Phile by BTS during Jhope's verse he said, "Hope hope world, before I built my own world, there was Cole world | When he lit up Friday night, |I became more inspired to write my own music". I am so glad that he was able to collab with one of his role models or someone that has inspired him. This is song is so beautiful. This is his gift to ARMY (fan base) before he has to leave for mandatory military service. Many people think the song kind of felt more like a JCole song, which I understand, but Jhope said before this was announced that he was "going back to the streets". So, I think that was the point. He is dancing more because that is what he did in the streets before BTS while listening to people like JCole. Now that Jhope has made it in his career his is able to meet/collab his muse. The music video shows Jhope's journey. At least that is my interpretation. I interpret the little boy two different ways. 1. being ARMY 2. himself in the past
The song is just sad , cole talking about the possibility of retiring and the fact that jhope is also taking a break from the kpop scene due to his Mandatory military service. It's really a song of understanding. You love your craft but at some point you have to break away from it and it's a scary thing to think about for someone that gives their all to something and have to let it go. 💜💜 Thanks for reacting guys
Thank you for your kind reaction to jhope, jhope really loves jcole, jcole has been his inspiration for a long time, we are so proud of him and we love him so much. Sincerely thank you from army for taking your time to react to jhope and also for jhope this song means a lot as he is going to mandatory military service in south korea and so this song is a love song for his fans simply meaning that he will always be by our side even from afar 🥰💜 (fun fact hobi included dancing with the song because his roots are street dancing)
I kind of wish the last hook with Cole doing background for Hope was on every hook in the song. It’s definitely a feel good track. That line about hip hop being like his daughter at the alter and how you gotta let her grow hit so hard- as a hip hop golden era fan and as a new father, on a personal note.
J-Hope’s dance is him expressing, he’s just being free, walking streets free…before he soon joins military. The billboard behind J-Cole is basically J-Hopes message it’s his time now. BTS don’t drop/do anything that’s not perfection & beyond. You find hidden messages in EVERY MV🫶💜 J-Cole🙌dropped 16 + bars. He got the chance to work with J-Hope is HUGE, regardless how big artists are, they know anything they do with BTS, entire global ARMY (BTS fans) will back it & in 24 hour’s they’ll be seen globally 100% they were great!
Hello. Thank you both for checking out Hopes video. He is an awesome performer and we, Army, are going to be missing him soon because he goes to the military shortly, so he, like Jin last year, has made a video for Army while we wait for him to return. J Cole is who J Hope looks up to as an artist so this was a special moment for him and why he gave him the huge part of the song and J Cole killed it!! Please check out his Chicken Noodle Soup with Becky G. He also created an awesome album, Jack in the Box. BTS has a message and a strong vibe of self love, fighting hate and Army appreciates any time you give BTS as a group or individually. BTS excels at showing the world how lyrical and rap can mesh, and especially how you can enjoy music regardless os the language.
J Cole has been J Hope's idol for a long time. This is J Hope's final song before he goes to serve his enlistment in the Korean Army so for him to be able to do this with Cole before he leaves is amazing.
So surprised and happy to see this one! I love you guys and trusted that you will be open and genuine as always in your feedback. FYI, jhope has "harder" more rap-focused songs/verses, he is really versatile. This song has this tone because it's his farewell/see you later song before he starts his military service.
There are so many different aspects to this song and mv. Hobi was inspired and idolized JCole at the beginning of growing into a rapper; JCole waits to meet Hobie when he arrives at Lollapalooza, just to meet him which is saying something especially since he was the only artist who sold out the last night of the concert. In the video J-Hope is still on the streets and working on his dream of becoming a great rapper, J Cole a seasoned lyrical rapper is up on the rooftop and very successful - you don't see him on the streets because he is already seasoned as a rapper and put in his time. The respect that J-Hope has for J Cole - he gives him over a minute and a half to his own 30 seconds of rapping speaks volumes. J-Hope wrote a melody that would showcase J Cole. J Cole speaks J Hopes's name saying this is our world and then Hobi climbs to the roof where J Cole is because he is on his way. J-Hope is an outsider to the western rapping music world and J Cole is saying come on over... like Chris Martin/Coldplay. Oh yeah, one more thing... J-Hope goes back to the subways like when BTS first started, at the end of this mv you see J-Hope coming up out of the subway and then going to the roof with J Cole. One idol encourages and believes in another. There is room at the top for a Korean rapper too who crosses the language barrier. Respect man!
Thank you for your honest reaction. Please tune in to J-Hope (of BTS) new album “Hope on the Street”, out this Friday March 29 featuring his new single NEURON and a Jungkook feature. There will also be a full jhope version of On the Street.
J Hope has a wave dance moving. Look at his videos. He has incorporated many kpop idols even Jay Park another Korean rapper that has blown up in Korea. I see a Golden Corral Buffet. It's just getting started. The two universe coming together after all this time in life. Let's embrace it with grace.
I know you're here for JCole but thank you for reacting to this track. Jhope is a successful fan haha JCole is one of his top inspirations. He's often shouted him out. He said when he heard JCole say his name on the track he was so happy. This is actually a fan song as well. In his country men have to serve 2 years of mandatory military service so this is his last song before he enlists. He started out as a street dancer before becoming and idol trainee and rapper. BTS has a song called Born Singer a call back to Born Sinner. It's really great.
Just letting you guys know some information
J.Cole is jhopes biggest influence/inspiration and muse.
Never knew all this ... that's insane thanks for sharing all that
i saw that young simba refrence, dmn this is paying homage

You comment on the clothes he wears, the jacket and the style - but don't seek to ask the question 'why.'
BTS were personally mentored by Coolio, Tony Jones and Warren G before their debut and they spent time in America training and understanding the roots of the genre.
BTS tell meaningful stories through all of their content - which is why the fans get so up-in-arms when perspectives from the West try to simplify their story (there's a huge gap in knowledge from outsider audiences.)
J.Cole is an integral artist to J-Hope's story, who he is as an artist, dancer, producer etc..
Thank you for telling everyone the truth.👍👍👍

To have JCole jump on a track with J-hope, knowing how much J-hope has been inspired by him makes me so damn proud. remember j.cole's MV "SIMBA" ? the alley where he walked is the same alley where jhope walked on the first scene of this MV. respect for jhope for giving the floor to his idol, it's just amazing that j.cole's verse resonates well with J-Hope's lyrics from his songs "ARSON" & "MORE" Love the way this collaboration came out, I'm happy for j-hope, him as a j.cole fan cause from being a street dancer, loving hiphop and become a rapper, this is a dream come true for him.

These reactors are open-minded and genuine. I really hope they check out more BTS, they can start from these collabs (also Change by RM ft. Wale), or the more heavy sounds, since they are already listening some rock and metal music.
🤣 Oh really? I downloaded this song and edited JHope right tf out of it. Ain't tryna hear dat shit.
@@draenation265 you mad weird for this, not even a bts fan at all but he killed the hook
Yes, this is his sort of "see you later song" so I'm emo. But at the same time very very happy that he got to collab with his idol
He and the other BTS members worked from the streets literally to where they are, so seeing this MV for the first time was a spiritual experience for me.
get off they dick ubot
Hopefully in future, cause all my babies (BTS) will enlist in the military.. esp Jhope already announced hes going😫😫 (the oldest already enlisted)
Please check out my review if you have a moment 🙏🏼
j.cole verse resonates well with J-Hope's lyrics from his song called "ARSON"
("should I put out the fire or burn even brighter?") and "MORE" (for wanting some more or continue to his career or craft) please check these two j-hope's tracks, they're good. 🤘 Love your reactions and thank you for being open-minded to other artist j-hope who's in different races and speaks different languages. 💜
Yes, I have been thinking this too. I also felt like the line from STOP where he says we live in a smart world but people aren’t smart (paraphrasing here) is similar to cole talking about his friend
I imagine he checked out Jack in the Box and the lyrics because there were definitely a few parallel themes even though they each came at from their own experiences.
Yes! Glad I’m not the only one who noticed the common themes between JCole’s verse here and Jack in the Box.
If anyone doesn't realize the intro where J Hope is walking is the same place J Cole shot the Simba video when he first started
its funny but i've seen more ARMY point this out and know the reference than i have any of the recent reactors watching this MV "only for Jcole"
Jhope did HIS thing for the beat. Respect to where respects do. Just saying.
I love y'all branching out, let's go FREE THINKERS!! This is my two worlds colliding I was stunned by this collab
Same! I never clicked faster lol. Hoping for more BTS reaction videos 🤞

BTS’s rap line is genuinely more talented than 75% of modern US rappers
Fun facts:
They met at Lollapalooza, where j-hope was a headliner, Their meeting is on "j-hope in the Box" as documentary at Disney+
j-hope was whistling, and he loved the melody, so he went to studio and recorded it, thats how this song started.
Tfs
@@collinyt3601 some of my friends become hip hop heads thru BTS , cause they paid homage to a lot of hip hop artists and name dropping them in songs, they dug in and became a fan of them
@@collinyt3601 I did. A lot of ARMY did. And a lot of ARMY were J Cole fans before they were ARMY, too.
@@collinyt3601 a lot, BTS have a version of JCole's Born Sinner called Born Singer about 9 years ago.
From what I seen j hope boutta do mandatory military service so this is his "goodbye for now" track

They met at lollapolza where j hope headlined and also sold more tickets than any other artist in the 26 festival history.
Songs that i recommend, Arson, More, Stop, What if (he sampled ODB on that one), Airplane and Daydream
this collab feels like a dream came true.
this track really highlights what's been missing from a lot of cole's music - why he gets a lot of respect but nobody really bumps him - he needs to start using instrumentals that can stand on their own - his flow combined with this music was another level
The music was J-Hope and Pdogg oe if BTS's long time producers they made it with J. Cole in mind but also Hobi (J-Hope's nickname) was a dancer first and still is, so he wanted something he could dance to
JCole is his muse and inspiration. JHope has lots of respect for him and this collaboration is extremely special...both JHope and ARMYs. 💜🎶
Cole 💜
Jung Ho-seok and Jermaine Cole iconic duo
Please be sure to tune in to jhope's new EP Hope On The Street, coming this Friday March 29! I look forward to hearing your thoughts!!
Wow... Back in the day i tried to put u on kpop, but i failed. 😂 So, im glad to see you reacting to Jhope song today

I've been waiting for you guys to review this one
Btw the beat is from j-hope himself :)
This song clearly introduced me to this jhope guy because I haven’t cared about their song until Cole jumped on this one . Cole is 🥶
I personally love the vibe of this track & J.Cole spittin' bars like the legend he is 👑
Wow, never thought I'd see the day you react to one of bts' rap line 😊. j-hope is a brilliant rapper and dancer (and more).
What a beautiful song
I was surprised to see you reacting to this one, although I should have guessed you would considering it was J.Cole. I think you'd be surprised by how varied and unsafe JHope can be (see songs like More or Arson) but he does lean more happy-go-lucky than even the other members of BTS. Have you guys considered adding foreign language music to your repertoire, whether it be k-hiphop, latin, finnish death metal or whatever? Could be interesting, although a lot of lyrical nuance gets lost in translation - so it would be extra effort to dig below the surface meaning of songs.
@Aaron Sanders I never suggested otherwise. Just that it's not safe because he feels like he has to do it be commercially viable.
@Aaron Sanders it is a safe song tbh, but I think they meant his other songs are varied and more unsafe (ARSON , More etc) that you lo be surprised to hear it
This legendary song is very warm…. Warm😊💜
JHope met J Cole when he headlined at Lalapalooza. J Cole has always been an influence for BTS.
Is crazy that when the video started people don’t realize is the same one that j cole did on one his first visual simba!!!
I’m a BTS fan(ARMY) and I’ve followed your channel for a while now just hoping one day you might react to some BTS😂. I was so excited to watch this!! Maybe one day you could react to the BTS rapline(consisting of Jhope, RM and Suga).
BTS are Korean but they outgrew k-pop a long long time ago. They’re one in a million artists not just in korea.
jhope is a dancer first and foremost and im glad you highlighted that in your commentary! great reaction guys!
This the reaction channel I was waiting for!
This is perfect for spring/summer vibes. Hopefully this will be a big hit just because of that.
I kind of wish the last hook with Cole doing background for Hope was on every hook in the song.
It’s definitely a feel good track. That line about hip hop being like his daughter at the alter and how you gotta let her grow hit so hard- as a hip hop golden era fan and as a new father, on a personal note.
Very dope song and it just prove Cole can work with anyone and still be him
J-Hope’s dance is him expressing, he’s just being free, walking streets free…before he soon joins military. The billboard behind J-Cole is basically J-Hopes message it’s his time now. BTS don’t drop/do anything that’s not perfection & beyond. You find hidden messages in EVERY MV🫶💜
J-Cole🙌dropped 16 + bars. He got the chance to work with J-Hope is HUGE, regardless how big artists are, they know anything they do with BTS, entire global ARMY (BTS fans) will back it & in 24 hour’s they’ll be seen globally 100% they were great!
Thanks for this reaction n good song n really dope verse by J Cole..
BTS excels at showing the world how lyrical and rap can mesh, and especially how you can enjoy music regardless os the language.
i have been watching yalls videos since the STARTTT, im so happy to see some kpop!
J Cole has been J Hope's idol for a long time. This is J Hope's final song before he goes to serve his enlistment in the Korean Army so for him to be able to do this with Cole before he leaves is amazing.
Love the Channel. J. Cole blessed this track with a dope verse. Great song and I can't stop humming it
So surprised and happy to see this one! I love you guys and trusted that you will be open and genuine as always in your feedback.
FYI, jhope has "harder" more rap-focused songs/verses, he is really versatile. This song has this tone because it's his farewell/see you later song before he starts his military service.
Love the way J Hope mixes English with Korean to make it rhyme and flow
See now you see that's what's up J Cole and j-hope know exactly what they doing they did everything right that was cold-blooded😊
Jhope met jcole at lallapalooza and jcole watched jhopes performance and well few months later they did this
I've been WAITING for you to do BTS. You really need to react to more of BTS, ESPECIALLY the rap line.
