I started singing with the Sheps around 3 years after this performance in 1997. I have to say this! I sang with many acapella groups prior to that and even with a marquee group known as the Legendary Teenagers, but the Sheps became more to me than just another singing group. We became family. Since we disbanded in 2013, we all still find time to keep in contact with each other as family well do! Although we're not rehearsing (as we constantly did every Tuesday or Wednesday night) all those songs and harmony notes are still in our heads dying to get out! My only regret is that there were so many other songs (plus hundreds of Tommie Shider originals) we never got a chance to perform in public. But alas, we do have many wonderful memories that money could never buy! I got a chance to actually know and befriend many performers I looked up to as singing legends such as Willlie Winfield, Pookie Hudson, Earl Lewis, Ray Pollard, Milton Love etc. Being a part of the Sheps was like an exciting roller-coaster ride with guys I knew always had my back through the good times and the tough times. So I gotta say that hopefully we will do yet another reunion to hear that fantastic harmony up close one more time right in my face!😅 Iff it does transpire, please oh please give me a month's notice so I can clear away al the cobwebs. 😂
