The way this has aged like milk and now the season so far (only been two races as of posting this comment) have not looked great for the team. Perhaps the teams lack of support in giving him a multi-year contract and ambassdor role is his blessing and he might make history with the Scuderia.
My prayer is for him to win at Ferrari

It’s not about age, it’s more about attitude and Lewis seems to be completely checked out where Alonso still seems fresh. They are in different places. Hamilton for the first time is in a position where winning isn’t an option and isn’t handling it very well
I genuinely hope that LH can win another world championship. Even if he has to go to Ferrari to do it. That having been said the way Mercedes posts videos like this and the race debriefs etc I plan on liking this team long term.

Lewis, Toto, and Niki Lauda are the people who made Mercedes the team that they’re today and losing Lewis is a humongous blow, not just on the grid, but also off the grid for Mercedes. It’ll have a great impact on their market value and public image.
But, from Lewis’ perspective, it makes sense to go to Ferrari at this stage where he only has about 3-4 years maximum left in him. He doesn’t have time to wait until Mercedes corrects its mistakes and offers him a good car.
But, deep down, everyone knows that Lewis will always be remembered and celebrated as a Mercedes driver, regardless of what he achieves with Ferrari.
Mercedes is where his legacy was built and it’ll remain that way forever.
For me personally, Lewis will always be a Mercedes driver

First Toto said he would have given Lewis what he asked for but the board...
Then later he says they needed to keep Lewis contract short because of Antonelli.
Overall, they never valued him enough to give him the ambassadorial role and that speaks volumes.
Ferrari gave it to him in a heartbeat, that also speaks volumes.
I have always insisted that Lewis brand fits best with Ferrari.

It was the other way round. Mercedes wouldn't offer him more than a 1 year deal. Ferrari offered him a 2+1 deal with an ambassador role. He wants to stay in F1 for more than one more year, but Mercedes didn't want to guarantee that for him so he had to find someone who would.
He signed a two year contract after this and after that Mercedes refused to give him anything more than a 1 year 🤷 They're essentially letting him walk because they don't want to lose Antonelli
