Hey Al - Have you actually cooked anything in the Sharp SMD2499FS unit yet? We just bought one and are soooo disappointed in it. From our experience, it doesn't even come close to any of it's advertised features (air fry, toasting, etc)...so what you have left is a $2200, low-watt (900) microwave.
Glad I read your reply. I’ve seen similar ones on Lowe’s website. Haven’t found any food reviews that I belive to be real.
Personally, I've never cooked in this particular model. A lot of my customers use it as a secondary oven. From the feedback I've gotten, the air fry works well, and the convection mode works fantastic.

@@davineharding5063 Personally, we are extremely disappointed in the SMD2499FS model. The air fry mode - in our experience - doesn't even come close to performing like an "air fryer" does - even though Sharp's Sales and Marketing materials all state how great it is and how large of a capacity it is for large batches of air fried food. It's nothing like the photos shown on the Sharp website and the amount of time in the oven is 3-5x longer than an air fryer (if not longer). The microwave is only a 900 watt unit, so it will feel very underpowered when compared to a cheap but higher wattage microwave. Pop corn takes 3-5x longer to pop even when using the unit's popcorn setting. And the Toasting mode is really a big lie (in my opinion) as it doesn't "toast" breads or bagels and is no different than if you put a piece of bread in your regular oven - though Sharp's Sales and Marketing photos show PERFECTLY toasted bread. We were so excited to add this Sharp product to our kitchen but now I have a custom made cabinet for a unit we plan to return. I wish it worked even half as good as it promises to perform.
@@JustAskAlTheApplianceExpert Though I'm disappointed with my SMD2499FS, I'd love to keep it since we built a custom cabinet for it. If you have customers who own (and love it) can you please do a follow up video series on how they are using it and what they are doing to make it perform as Sharp's Sales and Marketing efforts claim it to be? I'd be a happy clam if there was some magical info to help us see the same kind of results as advertised. Thank you!

This review was made when it was really new. It's a great unit for the microwave and convection modes. But i will agree on the airfry feature. While it works, it is not as good as the countertip units.
I've owned this model since May of 2022. As every verified "owner" has indicated - STAY AWAY FROM THIS APPLIANCE. Nothing works as advertised. Air Fyrer has 4 pre set settings. If you think you will be making something like Chicken Wings you wont. Heating a cup of tea takes 6 minutes 30 seconds. Convection oven says it will max at 30 minutes. Sharp Marketing should be ashamed how misleading their information is. Probably the worst purchase I've made in the last 5-10 years. I don't like to "bash" products or companies but in this case nothing else you can say/do.
There is absolutely nothing good about this appliance! We bought this SMD2499FS. It was part of a Wolf Sub/Zero kitchen upgrade. What a piece of garbage!! I tested the popcorn program and it couldn't even do that. The air fryer doesn't work so we have kept our countertop Cuisinart which defeats the purpose of having a clear countertop. Fortunately, our appliance store will take it back and refund the $1,700 we paid for it.
Al, Your review really sucks. Do everyone a service and either do a proper review or take it down.
Sorry you dont like it, but Sharp has sold over 1 million of them and continues to do so with positive feedback. You're free to replace it if you dont like. It wont hurt my feelings!
