She just voiced how this song makes me feel. I have heard it more times than I could guess. This song has made me feel as how she explains it. It's the reason this song is one of my work out songs or working songs. I listed it as "double time" the energy I receive is like I can conquer everything and anything. I can go beyond any limits. It's not the song but it's realizing my own power.
Thats how you know shes really a therapist and the real deal She makes amazing analysis full of passion on the human mind and makes inspirational rants every single time
Same with me!!! Too many times I've felt like I was done and then I just listen to them and suddenly I feel reborn. And this therapist's analysis of "Before I forget" is on point
You NEEEED to explore into KoRn, especially their first 4 albums. So much of their singer, Jonathan Davis’ lyrics are an expression of, and a way of working through traumatic childhood experiences. It would be fascinating to hear an actual therapists take on it.
The way you analyze Slipknot is phenomenal. I watched your first Slipknot video and the trepidation you displayed was incredible. Now you see and feel why we love this band. You are amazing and I’m grateful to have found your channel 🤘🏻💥🔥🙏🏻💯
I'm so happy to find this channel and subscribed. Metal is great therapy. I've loved it for over 47 years and I'm 51. I'm very new to this community and need all the support and love to help others and myself with mental health issues.
Gonna be a lil vulnerable, and admit that this reaction made me cry. Idk if it's because it's been so long since anything has invoked this kind of happiness in me, or because it's been so many years since I've been able to enjoy anything to the level you were this song, or what...but seeing you so into it, and the smiles, and being excited when you understood a message in it, made me cry...hard. One day, maybe I'll get back to that. Much love, God Bless, rock on❤️🙏🤘
@jodyembry3750 then you've never been low enough, and that's a great thing. I'm really happy you don't get it actually, means you've had a happier life than us and you should be really grateful for that
This is actually one of the most affirmative and positive songs I've ever heard.. Remember where your power comes from. Anger is just pent up energy, converting it into determination & motivation is you reap the benefits. It's like mental Alchemy. Joe Strummer once sang "Anger can be power if only you can use it."
Been listening to Slipknot since around 2001 because of my older cousin Jared, who i had lived with growing up. Ive heard this song for a long time and just never broke it down. I guess i knew what Corey was saying, but never thought about it. I just started listening to them again after my cousin passed from an O.D. So actually breaking this one down after that happened, I definitely have a new love for this song, when it was never one of my favorites by them, until now.
My brother linked you to me and I must say, I’m not disappointed. You get it and it’s so refreshing to see more people be able to listen to metal and understand how meaningful the lyrics are and the venting and healing process that can happen from a song. Can’t say it’s some tho g you can shake your ass to but the world would be better with less of that music. Keep it up and may I suggest some all that remains for your next couple of videos. They have many many wonderful songs.
This has been my favourite slipknot song for a long time but I never saw it quite this way. I've had a very dark and difficult year but this perspective helped me feel stronger. Thank you
Slipknot helped me so much in my adolescence until now, recently my mother passed away, and with that many questions and doubts about my future... Many of the lyrics are not against a particular person, but against the person the world formed within us, who sometimes doesn't understand how we feel inside ourselves. Slipknot heals, Corey once said, no matter how tired, sad, depressed, faithless, powerless you may feel, it's temporary, it's all temporary, because we're not aware of how strong we are until the storm passes
Fucking amazing analysis. You are so good at breaking down these lyrics. I’ve never felt more alive and powerful hearing you speak about the meaning of this song!
People discovering metal bands for the first time is easily one of my favorite types of videos on RUclips. When you've been listening to metal for 15, 20, 30 years, you kinda start taking it for granted, almost. And then when you see people reacting to it for the first time, you get reminded of you you fell in love with it in the first place .
Probably one of the most real videos, first off, give her credit she smart as hell, you can see the judgement dissipate, more and more she listens.. well done
You came up as a suggested video on my youtube and I have to say, |I love your interpretation of that (and your amazing level of positivity). Awesome video! Thank you
I love this! This is such a great reminder about deriving power from inside to continue facing up to the world outside which is constantly stealing our power. Great explanation and great song!
i'm feeling powerless such a loooong time but right now this day i've got that 3am urge to change my life and i just saw this video and omg thats what i wanted to listen cuz i really loved dat song when i was so powerful when i was 15 years old and now with 30 i'm like "DAMN THAT GIRL JUST BRING ME BACK THAT FEELING!!!!" thank you and greetings from brazil!
This is y slipknot has helped me so much throughout my life. There music is powerful in so many ways and its funny cuz a lot of ppl think im crazy cuz i listen to their music but most just think they scream ot whatever but dont even listen to the lyrics. Love slipknot and ur reaction was priceless. U actually heard the lyrics and right away knew what the song was about. Kudos
Your passion for music is much like my own. It showcases an inner beauty that is quite impressive. Your interpretations also matches what I hear as well. Subscribed! I like your analysis of the few times I've had you in my algorithm. I am excited to see what you have to say on more songs! Keep up the positivity. You brightened up what was turning into a rough day. Thanks for that!
your comment about a child talking about what their going to be brought me back to Christmas... i asked my nephew what he wanted to be when he grew up, his reply was he's going to be " a monster truck driver and a rock star!".. me, being a 30 something amateur guitarist and cheesy song writer, said "That's cool! i'm goin to be a rock star when i grow up too".. the little brat doesn't miss a beat "But uncle J.. you're already old?!".. kids
You should check out Architects - Memento Mori and Gone With the Wind... The songs were written by the bands guitarist Tom Searle while he was battling with terminal cancer. The songs are essentially the final thoughts and the philosophical questions and uncertainties of a man who knows his time on earth will soon be up. It's an incredibly emotional experience, for Gone with the Wind I recommend you check out the Live at Alexandra Palace video by TerWebz, the video is edited to include a speech given by the bands drummer and Tom's brother Dan Searle, and it's especially heartbreaking to see Sam (vocals) break down on stage during the song and the crowd takes over singing. It's a chillingly beautiful and sad moment!
When I listen to slipknot or pantera and a few other metal bands l feel a light shining out of my heart like I'm chanelling projecting pure power. Its honestly one the best feelings ever have. When you get the perfect combo of musical power, lyrical depth and melodic hooks, man it takes me away.
This has been an awesome find. I've been watching videos all day. Thanks for the entertainment and insight. I think you would get a kick out of the band Badflower . I'd hate to spoil the music if your not familiar but it would be amazing to hear a therapists take on the raw emotions and pain from those lyrics.
But then right at the end, you say 'this is the first time I ever heard them''. And I instantly flashed back to Spokane Washington and the concert I first heard slipknot.... And I can totally relate! You rock
"i am a world before, i am a man" is the best statement ever. specially in this times of manhood shame, we were always more than a man, with feelings, with fears, with all.
Lol. Just found your videos. Interesting feeling seeing your reaction and views on this song has made me feel like I gone to therapy (never been to one before). The analyzing of it has put a smile on my face. I feel like with this song and how I feel when i hear it. It makes me want to complete any goal. Now adding what you said.. BOOM you given even more power to it and my energy for all things.
He writes the helplessness many of us feel. Corey definitely taps into all of us, and then we reach that point we will grind up and remember we are a world. Not helpless. Not powerless. But empowered
keep up the amazing work i love how into the music you get. more songs by slipknot would be sic, surfacing, spit it out, people = shit, the heretic anthem, sulfur, aov, killpop, custer, unsainted, nero forte, yen. should also checkout stuff from the singer corey taylor's other band stone sour as well as his solo stuff more singing less screaming and growls. from stone sour: bother, through glass, 30/30-150, made of scars, digital (did you tell), say you'll haunt me, gone sovereign/absolute zero, tired, do me a favor, song #3, fabuless. from solo stuff: black eyes blue, cmft must be stopped, from can to cant
I remember when this album came out I was working as a casual for a factory that made bottle caps for beer and soft drinks and I'd play this album in my old lancer on my way to Acacia Ridge lol the memories that you can feel that a song can trigger.
I feel so powerless sometimes 😢 that I just want to give up but this song is like my fight song and when I listen to it or any slipknot ot song really I find strength to keep fighting. I know that I have to go on of for no other reason then to reach back and help someone behind me with a song or some words that I once needed to hear when I was ready to lay down the fight.
Frey the strings and throwing shapes is what they did when they played for fun. Now it feels almost robotic and a job; locked in clutch and pushed in place. Got to remember when they played for the love of music before they forget the passion that was there. Now when they play it is scheduled and controlled. Remember it can be pure again.
I just found this channel and really needed it today. Thank you for doing these. Also, "Jesus of Suburbia" by Green Day would be an awesome addition. I feel like you'd have a lot to say with it.
I am a world before i am a man- i am much more then just a man, theres so much more inside of me and to me, a whole world i was a creature before i could stand- i was a mere creature before i became "this", now i am something much more then just a creature, much more then a pile of flesh and bones, a whole world i will remember before i forget- i will remember that i am much more then just a creature regardless how life treats me and how far i fall down to resorting back to thinking i am a worthless animal before i forget that- hammering it down a second time resolve, selftrust, selfrecognition, selfadmirance, selfempowerment, fighting nihilism, worthlessnes and despair, acknowledgment of all the bads to oneself and what makes one also the only music video without masks, being their true selves, which speaks volumes
you're awesome... i'm a new fan/sub. FYI, Australia can't donate to the fundraiser. There's a lot of aussie viewers so add Australia so we can contibute... much respect
I am a world before I am man. I was a creature before I could stand. Before the mind came in and told you that you were different from the animals and that your different from each other (races, classes, religions etc.) and you were different from the world itself, different from God. You can remember that we are the world we are literally the trees and the dirt. And then we are the animals and that everybody is the same. We are all one. We are all God but we die like men. And I will remember that before I forget that. Beautiful.
@HeartSupport - I've been a $lipknot fan forever.... but thank you for bringing some more thoughts and feelings I didn't know were there.... but I've always took the song as this.... I am a world before I am a man - Before adulthood, we are told what to do, how to act, and indoctrinated enough to we are like a hive mind;as an adult, we finally have the freedom and capability to do what we think and experience life instead of the world view. .... I was a creature before I could stand - as babies, what do we learn to do before walking? We stand.... so what comes before standing? Crawling..... so the life fact of , walk before run, crawl before walk, comes into view. Creatures walk on all four legs, and befor3 we stand, we literally are creatures that are mobile on 4 limbs. How does all this come into play? The things of my past, that I have been through, were and still are out of my control, yet they still made me who I am today, and before I forget that the fact of life is hind sight is often 20/20, I already lived through the hard and unknown, so I will delay the end of the world, by living in the moment and focus and change my now...... so, you combine those thoughts with your thoughts, and it builds the picture to full and focused view now for me..... I would be who i am if not for what I was and what I went through, but that gave me power in the now, to change "me" in the now at moments notice to be whatever I want to be, and with enough remembering of what I went through to get to the now, I can't turn that tomorrows want into a "so it will be"
From ThriceTheThird: Thank you for your insight and sharing your opinion! > Blockquote "I would be who i am if not for what I was and what I went through, but that gave me power in the now, to change “me” in the now at moments notice to be whatever I want to be, and with enough remembering of what I went through to get to the now, I can’t turn that tomorrows want into a “so it will be” Love this! Hope you continue to grow in your journey! Thanks for sharing your perspective. <3
I just learned that Corey Taylor (the frontman of Slipknot and Stone Sour) unfortunately canceled his upcoming tour due to mental and physical health issues. I hope he'll feel better soon.
Exactly what i say. Ppl think im as crazy as i am cuz i listen to metal but then i tell them i listen to the lyrics and their meaning. Dont get me wrong though the drums and guitars also kick ass as well lol
Has Corey or anyone from Slipknot ever seen/reacted to one of your videos? I am so curious to know what they would think of the way you interpret their songs.
I think Corey became a father and also met his own father for the first time around the time of this album. I always interpreted this song as him remembering that he is his child's world and to put that before himself as a man so that he doesn't repeat the mistakes of his parents or inflict his own trauma on his kid. The song "Welcome" touches on the same theme: "Much to my surprise I will wake up and follow the path of the ones I am made of; but this time I won't give in. I will save you from my sin."
I've heard this song a million times, but this analysis just gave me chills. Love watching people's first time listen.
100%
She just voiced how this song makes me feel. I have heard it more times than I could guess. This song has made me feel as how she explains it.

Slipknot has gotten me through dark times over the years. Thank you for helping put their catharsis into words

i love the metalhead therapist 🥰😇
Weird seeing a Therapist reacting to my Therapy.
Weird seeing a Therapist react to Slipknot in general

Before Jonathan Davis got help
just glad he got clean.
Dude yes. I'm glad someone said what I was thinking
That was my favorite years of Korn Jonathan Davis off rails
@@conorcuomo4283 all honesty last time I was off the wagon I practiced scat singing like him it was fun
The way you analyze Slipknot is phenomenal. I watched your first Slipknot video and the trepidation you displayed was incredible. Now you see and feel why we love this band. You are amazing and I’m grateful to have found your channel 🤘🏻💥🔥🙏🏻💯
"because we don't like mainstream music" said shitknot fans . Even though it's a song they "like"
Me too

I love how this music video focuses more on the instruments and the singer, instead of it being a "movie"

Beautiful.
Joey Jordinson has got to be the coolest drummer ever towel the Earth. Rest In Peace

Love this! Hope you continue to grow in your journey! Thanks for sharing your perspective. <3
I just learned that Corey Taylor (the frontman of Slipknot and Stone Sour) unfortunately canceled his upcoming tour due to mental and physical health issues. I hope he'll feel better soon.
I’m a huge fan and also a therapist. Too often people hear a certain sound, and they don’t bother to listen to the lyrics.
Exactly what i say. Ppl think im as crazy as i am cuz i listen to metal but then i tell them i listen to the lyrics and their meaning. Dont get me wrong though the drums and guitars also kick ass as well lol
Woooee.... I is just about ready to let you have it slow down girl take it easy
Your turning into one of my favorite reactors fr
Has Corey or anyone from Slipknot ever seen/reacted to one of your videos? I am so curious to know what they would think of the way you interpret their songs.
That would be 🔥! ❤
Thank you for your ,page An i feel you picked the best band in the world, you absolutely get it right down to the point
