I love this. The history of NBC is awesome. A determined David Sarnoff never gave up after being rejected and he's the pioneer of what I'm studying for in college. Being a broadcaster is my dream and I'm studying sports broadcasting as a master's and English.

His biography is pretty interesting. I would suggest reading it, as well as that of William Paley, founder of CBS. The one thing that was forgotten was how NBC 'Blue' I think it was became ABC.

The National Broadcasting Company is the longest continuous major network in the U.S. and possibly all of North America. It started operations on November 15, 1926.
It was divided into the Red and Blue Networks on January 1, 1927, and operated as such until NBC's Blue Network officially became the American Broadcasting Company on October 12, 1943.

Next Year, NBC will celebrate 90 years of great entertainment. if either shows like The Blacklist weren't successful, NBC would have been proud as a peacock. Figure that the biggest gift given from that 60th / 45th Anniversary was (at the end) THE VERSION OF THE PEACOCK LOGO THEY STILL USE 35 YEARS LATER.
Now they've already went in March through the 95th Anniversary of the Company and in July 1st WNBT / WNBC 4 will celebrate their 80th Anniversary as THE FIRST LICENSED TV STATION IN US.
They were supposed to share with both WCBW / WCBS 2 (but NBC "jumped the gun" by 30 minutes) and with WPTZ / KYW of Philadelphia (they were also NBC then and were given the license at the same time as the New Yorkers, but had to wait 2 more months to start).

Why did NBC spoil it's incumbent logo that debuted on their 60th Anniversary Special which premiered on Monday, May 12, 1986?
