- All of the MINOLTA Toyota 88C-V '89's appearances in the Gran Turismo series. First appearing in GT4 the Minolta is unlocked by winning the El Capitan 200 Miles. It was the first Endurance Race I ever cleared in a Gran Turismo game as kid, and trust I was insanely surprised to win a Minolta Toyota upon clearing it. Although I think I sold it straight after since it sold for 700K+ and I had never had that much prize money before.
But safe to say this is one of my favourite cars in the Gran Turismo series!
GT4's engine sound is my favourite, hits right in the nostalgia feels. I just love this car so much, from GT4 especially. Another car I wish would return to GT7. It always felt so overpowered and was consistently a strong performer in every GT game it appeared in...not sure if that reflects real life lol but in Gran Turismo this was one of the best!
It had good pace but the Porsche 962s, TWR Jaguars and Nissans were a bit better. The Sauber/Mercedes was king in those years.
it should return we would have the 3 group C Japanese kings 787b, R92CP and 88C-V
@@thatcornfedrx8guy372 Agreed!
In real life, not so. The real 88C-V's ran only two or three races in the JSPC (Japan's Group C championship), one of which was also a round of the World Sports Car Championship and finished poorly in all of it's entries. The issue was it's short wheelbase, way too twitchy to have consistant speed around a lap. It was Toyota's first V8 Twin Turbo Group C design (previously using a 4cyl single turbo in the Toyota 88C, the "V" signifying the move to V8) and was improved in the years that followed in the 89C-V through 94C-V.
@@thatcornfedrx8guy372dont forget also 767B and R390GT1 LM 1997 and 1998.
I remembered a lot that Setsuna Yuki's Minolta Toyota 88C-V was also the prize car for winning El Capitan 200 Miles race, then it easily crushes the competition on GT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP and almost all of the Extreme Events.
Setsuna chan's Minolta 88C-V is so OP on GT4 to 6.
I wonder what it would be like if this was in GT3, 2 & 1. Either way I love this car so much. GT4 is tied favorite to GT5. Hope this gets added to GT7.
Also my boy 5:16 & 5:48 how do you shift gears so smooth? Are you on a wheel?
In GT3 it would have been good competition for the 787B, probably quicker than it. It would have been interesting to see it in GT1 and 2, I can't think of much cars it would have had competition with in GT1.
Haha no, I use a PS3 controller and have automatic gear changing on. I drive a manual irl. I want to relax and not think about gear changing when I'm gaming lol
@@solsticecityAgreed. And against a 787B would be a good rivalry battle, but remember that the Nomad GT1 was SO broken in GT3? I think it would be good competition against that. And ok i'll leave that gear change topic alone lol, didn't think automatic gear change would be like that. Interesting.
This was my go-to Group C prototype in GT4, 5 & 6.
I also used that car in 24 MINUTES OF LEMANS as well.😅
@@purwantiallan5089 Same here.
Have you done the Toyota 7 yet? If not do you have any plans on doing so?
Yep, I've already done it.
6:45 forgot it was the short layout? 😂
It was Fuji Speedway GT layout in fact.😅
@purwantiallan5089 it's the layout without the chicane 😄
