  • If you are looking for off-campus housing, watch this. I'm speaking candidly about the mistakes I made as a first-time renter and college student. Here is need-to-know insight about pricing, location, finding roommates and general Westwood-specific things. This is exactly what I wished I had known before I had started the process of looking for an apartment in Westwood. Hope it helps!
    For those of you who are curious, I live in a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment with 4 other girls and I share my room with one of them. My apartment does have AC and other amenities such as gym and hot tub. The total rent for the unit is $4500. As I mentioned, is a lower rate than others in my complex because of the fact that we did a lease takeover. I pay an additional $150 for my single parking spot, so my total monthly living expenses are $1111. This does not include utilities, cable, wifi, etc. Like I said, Westwood is a VERY expensive place to live.

    Happy new year Hailey! This is my first time commenting here, but I’ve been watching your videos since I first started researching about transferring to UCs and now I am just waiting for TAU to open and then finally for decisions! I just wanted to say your videos have been so helpful and I really appreciate them!

    I'm an international student also going to CC in the Bay Area San Mateo to be specific. I found your video really helpful and interesting because you've already overcomed the transferring process. UCLA is my dream long even before I was still in my country. I don't have too much on getting in since I'm major in Chemical Engineering one of the hardest major to transfer in UCLA an average admitted GPA is range from 3.87 to 3.97. However, I'm going to try my best. Thanks alot keep doing what you do.

    Thank you for this video!!! I just applied as a transfer student and I’ve been trying to briefly look into housing options and scholarships. If possible, is there anyway you can do a video speaking on tips for scholarships or do you know where I should be looking for scholarships??? I’ve barely paid anything to go to cc so uc tuition scares the living sht outta me!!!! Thanks in advance :)

      Hi Christina, the only scholarships I have received are the ones I got with my acceptance letter. Other than that I have loans, so I don't know anything about getting external scholarships. Good luck to you!

    Some info about my situation, to give you an idea of what to expect: I live in a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment with 4 other girls and I share my room with one of them (Jessica). My apartment does have AC and other amenities such as gym and hot tub. The total rent for the unit is $4500. As I mentioned, this is a lower rate than others in my complex because of the fact that we did a lease takeover. I pay an additional $150 for my single parking spot, so my total monthly housing expenses are $1111. This does not include utilities, cable, wifi, etc.

      Wow... that is quite horrible lol. California is so expensive! I live in Florida in a 4 bedroom 4 bath, everyone has a private room with a private bathroom inside of their room. We have wifi, cable, and utilities included for 750 a month and then we have to pay 20 dollars for a parking space. It's so crazy to see what the average rent is like in other states though!

      Jeez when I saw $4500 my heart dropped! That's double the mortgage my parents pay for a three story house!
      Then I remembered it's five people living there.
      Hence the expenses being $1111 like you said.
      Reading is fundamental🤣🤣

      @HaileyDollarGoesToCollege  2 года назад

      Hi Nicole, you can check Facebook groups and the like. In terms of websites being safe, there's only so much the website can do to vet users. Determining whether the person is a good match will be up to you.

    I hated my roommates as well. Complete Jerks unfortunately... I truly hope most get paired with compatible peers, cus the living situation alone could ruin your experience. If you're reading this, do your best to make sure the people you live with are at the very least respectful. And don't allow your initial impression to determine your final decision.
