Del it’s hard to believe I’ve been a fan for all these years and builds. I’m still amazed at your pure talent and teaching techniques. I got burned out a year and a half ago (too many builds too fast) it got to be work . Thanks for this video it helped more than you will know. I’m cleaning up my old workshop that’s turned into a storage room. Your new shop is awesome. Thanks again my friend
I built my first cbg after seeing yours and Shane Spiels videos. Thanks for the inspiration. One of my favorite builds will always be the hubcap howler.👍
My first build is ok, but the neck is very narrow just over one inch. The stick I used was just a piece of scrape maple I had laying around. It turned out ok because I watched a lot of your videos before I started. Those videos saved me a lot of work and frustration. Thanks 👍
My favorite build of yours was the "Brick House"... now it is definitely the "Pallet Caster" looks and sounds solid as can be. The more I hear you play, the more I like it. I totally ripped off your approach to "Amazing Grace" (adapted to GDGB) and mixed it with my own slide version. Luvin those progressions you play. You've gotten me through knee replacement and I've become a true CBG Arteest. Thanks for the Vids. Chu Da Man.
Fantastic video, with a lot of years of hard work building these guitars. Still playing my 3 string strat for now until I get a cigar box guitar. This is so much easier than 6 string and at 74 my fingers don’t have to bend as far ha Thanks for the great videos
Fair play del keep the vids comming, u are one hell of a builder, u did inspire me to build my own collection prob is I can't stop building them and not overly keen on parting with them. Like mine they all got there own characters and sounds 👌 🤘👍❤
Very nice vid dale I've been a subscriber of yours for 7 yrs I think.and wanted to say I thought 45 mins would take forever but the vid went so fast I enjoyed all of it.great work.
Congratulations Del for all this work of passion, dedication to music and simple build of the cigar box guitar, opening up the possibilities of playing an instrument for the less fortunates who can't afford to buy an electric guitar or even an old accoustic guitar . I live in a poor south american country and I start building CBG because of you and Shane Speal, watching your channels ( but you're a better CBG player than Shane) ahahah ! Keep the good work Del !
Never fail to impress Del. Great video. It was gracious and kind of you to find the courage to show off your first build. I don't feel near as bad about all the putty on mine now.. ;0)
Your first one had me smiling. Why? Because my first wasn't playable either. I used a 1x2 piece of "Lowes" oak and when I was trying to tune it up, the neck bends. But it was a good lesson in what not to do. My second was much better and my daughter has it now.
Hey Dell, love the journey through your builds man. At 40:30 you play a catchy tune on your pallet caster “unplugged.” What is it called? I’ve heard it before but can’t think of what it is. A big thank you too to all your build videos, I’ve built my first three string slide guitar and am having an absolute ball on it. I started learning the guitar when I was younger but never stuck with it but wow this thing is so much fun and addictive. Thank you again. 😊
heheheee thanks man!! appreciate it very much!! the little ditty i played is what i call ‘the universal chord progression, it’s a 1-5-6-4 progression: for example: if im in key of G. G-D-Em-C if im in key of E it’s E-B-C#m-A and im also throwing in inverted chords whenever i can to keep it interesting 🤔 blessings mate
How about a vid on your preferred CBG design choices and why. Also - what box makes the best sounding unplugged CBG in your opinion? I did a Padron that was awesome, and a pressboard Monte Christo that sucked.
Finally had a chance to see this in one sitting. Amazing progression and they just keep looking and sounding better! But how did you keep those numbers and signatures from fading? My #371 is getting worn away...
Del , I cut a groove for a nut blank too wide in the neck just a little too wide it wiggles . Can I glue it or shim it ? Would I shim the side of the nut …add wood somehow ??Please any advice is appreciated . Thank you big time !!!
That’s a lot of CBG We learn by are mistakes! Thanks for the video Del Greeting from England
Over 400, wow! Cool to see the evolution!
I remember a lot of those builds. Learned a lot of great techniques and had a lot fun building. Thanks for getting me involved in C B Gs
