  • Learn about the design goals achieved in constructing the Hutting 46. Naval architect Niels Moerke explains every element of the design in this video.
Discover how the expertise of Van Oossanen Naval Architects, renowned for their success with the Australia II in the 1983 America’s Cup, has elevated this long-distance cruiser to high-performance standards.
4 DESIGN ELEMENTS OF THE HUTTING 46
    1. Crafted with a focus on safety, comfort, and performance, the aluminium sailing yacht boasts, for example, a narrower stern compared to modern racers.
    2. The design comes with two keel configurations:
    • A long keel with trim taps for coastal cruising enthusiasts.
    • A shallow keel without trim taps for enhanced performance.
Both keel types deliver the same sailing performance, providing flexibility for different preferences, Niels will explain!
    3. The design incorporates a relatively deep foreship and V-shaped hull for seaworthiness, comfort, and onboard safety.
    4. Noteworthy is that the keel completely integrates into the hull structure, unlike the separate mounting often found in many mass-produced yachts. The unified aluminum keel and hull construction make this design of the highest safety level.
