What's the sample size of the poll? If it's 20k people that's way too small of a sample size to base that on ALL black people in the country. A key bit of info that keeps being left out is that the poll had a sample size of 1000 people, with only like 130 being black. In the end it was 61 black people who disagreed with the statement "It's okay to be white". So Scott was willing to write off all 42 million black people in the US over the opinion of 61.

How exactly did he misinterpret that poll? The poll asked if people agree if "its okay to be white". Only 53 % of black answers agreed. The remaining not fully disagree, but like 20-30% was "not sure".
But this is because the polarization that you see nowadays. Also he totally is fine with Black people just know sarcasm and wanted to leverage his platform to show "hey there is serious issues with society".
Its not he who misinterpreted data. Its him being misinterpreted. Also he literally said "if this poll is true..." in his talk lol. The data is true, but its asked to 1000 people from which only some over hundred was black - yet actually anyone who knows statistics know that even such small numbers can be representative or highly representative if properly randomized and sampled across!
So you can say only two things:
1.) Sample size is too small and not just small but not known how its sampled (but distrusting results immediately is also bad).
2.) But even then he just "gave up" on it if this is true. He says "IF" this is true.
And guess what? The way you currently do things and completely call everyone racist and stuff really deepens this issue. It already deepened it to the level that when people are asked "is it ok to be white" half of them either have racism towards whites because feel supressed OR they immediately feel like its "oh it must be some party I dislike said it so I should disagree even though its completely normal thing to say" and so on. Even being confused is shit.

It was 61 black people who disagreed with the statement so Scott was so angry that he also tried to blame 42 million black people in the us who didn't disagree with the statement over 61 people.
