From about the age of 75 onwards everytime I left my mum on her doorstep as I got into the taxi I felt I wouldn't see her again. She is now 91 and honestly if the sank another Titanic I think that she would be the only survivor !!

I left my mom for the last time when she was in a nursing home with dementia. It was too late when I got back. Distance can be hell. The expense of traveling back and forth is crippling. Enjoy every single day you can with your loved ones. They are not guaranteed. Not to be a downer, I absolutely love the love here on this channel. Isobel and Percy are proving every single day of a powerful love. ❤️

12 minutes in & I had to stop to comment on this, & I found you. I live in the country & my son's German Shepherd runs right close because he's never been leash bound. Lancelot seems sensible & probably doesn't need a leash unless away from home. Thank You Marie for showing Lancelot that he can be trusted! (If we were in city, totally different situation) ❤
I was wondering if that would stress Stephanie and Phillip out! 😂 She's never had a dog and he's so little I figured she was worried about him getting lost, foxes, etc.
I agree completely. Dogs don't develope the smarts if they are kept too confined. Neither do kids.
@@maryallen6334Even in today's crazy world I have to agree with you. Children (and dogs) need a modicum of freedom if they are going to be able to learn their strengths ...and their limits! Freedom & Responsibility in equal measure ...learned that from my training as a Montessori teacher!
I know how you feel, Stephanie, regarding leaving a loved one behind. I had an elderly friend in England (I live in Southern Ontario, Canada) who I only saw now and again. I hated leaving him because one never knows if this might just be the last time. On the other hand, at the other end of the spectrum, Lancelot’s unbridled joy at seeing you THROUGH THE WINDOW and then seeing him so excited he kept running back and forth between the two of you brought a wee tear to my eye. Bless!

Mine are in their 70s. I see them every week. But we have all three of us suddenly become very frail. I cry every time I am on my way to see them and cry every time I leave. Before Christmas I was able to stay with them for two weeks and I wished I didn’t have to leave at all, but had to….they need to live their own lives without me hanging around. If they were in another country I’d go mad.

Your goodbye to Mommy reminded me of a similar moment with my mom. She passed in 2019; I miss her fiercely every day. Aren't we fortunate to have/had parents who loved and cherished us (and, yes, drove us 'round the bend from time to time).
Your nails look really sweet and will go with a range of colours. Saying goodbye is very hard and with good reason. Your Mum is in a warm climate, in a lovely beach house, with her adorable Percy, surrounded by lots of friends. This helps. Lancelot makes coming home so much better. Unconditional love personified. The beautiful flowering shrub at La Lande is likely a Pink Dawn Viburnum- one of the best scented early bloomers in my TN garden, too. Bring cut blooms indoors and they will perfume an entire room. One of the first signs that Spring is around the corner, and, I imagine, a lovely Welcome home from your travels.

...I think the color compliments the ring ...but I'm from the 70's when the pearlescent colors really bloomed rather than the pure color ... but then it might compete with the pearlescence...REAL pearl-essence of the ring.

Every time I go back to South Africa to visit my parents the last meal we have together is at the Wimpy at George airport. They are 80 and almost 90 years old and same thing every time I leave I wonder if it's the last time I'll ever see them.
If anyone can ull off bubblegum nail polish, it is Stephanie. It fits her bubbly personality. In fact, as a reminder to live life fully present and being happy, I am buying myself a bubblegum polish and using it on my own nails -just to bring a little sunshine into the dreary winter days!

Stephanie, I adore the love you share with your mother. You are too very different people but it's so beautiful to see how much you care for one another. I lost my own mother in 2004. 20 years ago this year. She was my best friend. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of her and wish I could share the things I do with her. But I feel so blessed to have had her in my life. May you enjoy many many many years with your mom. And beautiful photography this video. I didn't realize it was such a long journey from France to South Africa. Even though it's cold in France, spring can't come soon enough. I look forward to seeing the Chateau come alive with the grounds outside.
