Last month I was in Thailand and got the urge to listen to this song. Everybody I was with was asleep, so I went outside the bungalow and lay down in a chair on the deck. It was nearly 100% humidity and 85f degrees despite being nearly 1 in the morning. The white, coral-sand beach was in front of me; lit up by moonlight diffusing through the humidity. I put this song on my iPod and listened quietly. 8500 miles from home; even if there was somebody around, I would have been speechless.
It’s 40 minutes away from being 2020, I am alone in the dark listening to this in my room and looking out at the sky. I don’t know where I’m headed, all I know is life isn’t what it seems and feelings are temporary. Playing this on repeat until the new year strikes... god bless everyone in this comment section
Everytime i listen to Sigur Ros i get goose bumps and teary-eyed. I first heard them in Norway, it used to be snowy, dark, misty. Brings back some lovely wonderful memories of the days i spent in Oslo. Music is a powerful thing.
Sitting outside late at night at my house, which is next to a National Park. I'm at the opposite end of the world to Iceland, the Southern Cross is shining brightly above me. But this music has universal beauty. I once listened to Staralfur whilst watching the Southern Lights on a beach in Tasmania whilst half drunk (who am I kidding, fully drunk) after a wedding. Sigur Rós is sublime.
This band's music is healing indeed. Stirs me very deeply on an emotional and spiritual level. A very underrated and important group of artists for this generation. Never heard anything like them.
I had no "post-rock" experience until I heard this song. I was completely numbed with beauty. Still get that feeling...Iceland is beautiful too, love the night skies there.
I think the underlying feeling that permeates almost all Sigur Ros' songs and make them special and unique is hope, a metaphysical hope, that relieves the soul from the burdens of the physical life by rising back into purity, for a while.
If the universe could listen to us, in one oportunity, and ask to us what we want to say, i choose a song of sigur ros next to an unique word: thanks. Wich song to choose is the hard part. May be Ekki Mukk
people who comment on the "dislikes" of a video usually irritate me, but in this case, what could you possibly find objectionable about this? you probably don't search for Sigur Ros if you don't like them, this is one of their most beautiful songs, and it's accompanied by exceptionally beautiful scenery. i see no fault.
I need to thank a good friend of mine so kind enough to share his wonderful song with me. With it, I can feel relaxed and feel like every bit of pain in my life is melted away! Hats off to you mate! You know who you are!
my first listen of this album was euphoric. My second listen transcended the first. I'm waiting for a very special moment to listen to it in full again.
múm, Amiina, Olaf Arnalds, Olafur Arnalds, KUKL, The Sugarcubes, Rokkurro, Ruxpin (if you like Acid House/Downtempo), Bjork, Kira Kira, Jónsi (singer/guitarist in Sigur Rós - his solo work is great), Emiliana Torrini, Sindri Eldon, Ghostigital, Sin Fang, Slowblow, Stafrænn Hákon. That's all I know if you're looking for more Icelandic stuff.
There are a few artists that sing in a language of their own, so the meaning of the words don't detract from the beauty of the song. Check out Vas and Dead can Dance (specifically Lisa Gerrard). Some music to rival even these folks!
If any of you have the chance to see "Heima" about Sigur Ros (in Iceland). It's phenomenal. It used to be on Netflix, but I'm not sure why it's no longer there. Just amazing.

On my playlist, I have several songs that I absolutely adore. Amoung these are several by Sigor Ros right in a row. Today I put my playlist on autoplay. After hearing all of the Sigor Ros songs, my playlist turned to a song by another band. Is it just me, or does all other music seem somehow shallow in comparison to the poetry of Sigor Ros?

I wish I could be both asleep and awake and listen to this song forever!
