      I mean the same people who defended Koeman using the squad's quality, he paid from his own pocket and the fact that he took the club when nobody wanted to take as the excuse can't wait to pass judgements on Xavi after his 5 matches where for people who can see there are already few improvements over Koeman. It's actually not surprising how they can't wait to say "I told you so" after just one month of Xavi when he has taken over a worse squad than Koeman had when he started.
      We got eliminated from the CL this season after we got hammered 3-0 to Benifica not on MD5 or MD6.
      No one expected us to win and even I was disappointed with Xavi's tactics and system, his attitude shows he will and wants to learn. The rebuild was gonna take time but under Xavi, we will do it the right way. We are progressing, it's slow, we must be patient and understand that whatever happened was a culmination of a lot of other factors that have happened for more than half a decade. Sit tight and enjoy the journey.
      Edit: Bayern had 5th worst XG against us yesterday and their press were season high against us. The positive: We actually competed for 90 minutes yesterday.

      Former Barcelona player Junior Firpo on Ronald Koeman.
      "I kept asking Koeman for explanations until one day he started lying to me. He tells me things that don't make sense, things like that I train badly or I have a bad influence on the group."
      "I got to lose the will of playing football. There were things that I did not understand and in certain moments I felt disrespected. I will never understand that after a match when the substitutes trained, Koeman used to stay in his room."

    It’s definitely heart-wrenching to see the club we all love go through this. However, it’s always good to come to some acceptance that we were struggling to compete at such a high level, that the downfall was inevitable after EVERYTHING that has happened to this day. Watching Barça matches feels painful only because there’s a feeling of uncertainty. The reality check came yesterday, and although we all like to wonder what would’ve been, we must accept that this is a building process and have, most importantly, PATIENCE. As hard as that is, honestly.
    I firmly, and whole-heartedly, believe that Barça will come back from this. Especially under Xavi. I don’t place a single ounce of blame in him because I trust that he will lift us up once again. Something that struck me watching the game yesterday was all the players that was played out of position. Araujo, Dest, Mingueza was really out of position, Depay(winger, not a real number 9), de Jong (cdm when he played for Ajax and the reason we bought him), Dembele (is always at his best on the right wing), Coutinho (on the left again, how many times have we tried that and it has never worked). Yes. the most similar year to the current situation is the 2002-2003 Barca. At that time Rivaldo had just left for AC Milan and the team was not able to score many goals any more. In a similar way as Messi, Rivaldo carried Barca and scored most of their goals for years. Still in that year, we were able to advance to the quarter finals of champions league; we beat Inter 3-0 and we narrowly lost to Juventus in the quarter finals. I remember that game and we did not deserve to lose! The year after that, Ronaldinho came and things got better and better. Today's Barca is really an average team in Europe. Hello dude. I do like your videos and i usually agree with you, but I don't agree that we need to buy players to "score the goals". It is a problem to score goals yes, but we should build the team from behind to front and it's been 4 or 5 yers that we should have invested in defenders and not forwards or middfields because our defence is pure garbage. Per example, instead of buying Griezmann, which is a player that I really like but didn't suit our team at all, we should have spent only 100M€ or even the 120M€ on a really good top tier center back and a right back (a good one, Dest is not good enough). Also we need leaders, true leaders! Liverpool bought VVD and it changed the defence completly because he could lead the defence.
    You can buy Haaland, Mbappé and all this wonderkids/top tier forwards, that you wont win a single trophy with this defence and without Messi.

    Both men had NO VISION for the club. They gradually destroyed the IDENTITY of this illustrious club.
    It's important that Laporta and Xavi should work together to reinstate or reinforce the VALUES of the club that have been lost over the years so that the next generation of La Masia graduates will have hope.
    I believe that things will get better under Xavi. As Barça fans, we will have to eat our humble pie and be patient.
    Furthermore, Xavi has got to make some firm decisions on players who commitment to this club is questionable. Players with wrong attitudes shouldn't be wearing the club jersey, regardless of how talented they are.

The problem is fundamental and I think it is time to twik our tiki taka. This days, football isn't rocket science.
    1) Barcelona has been playing for years without a DMF.
    2) High line of Bayern's defence forced us to play tiki taka in our half.
    3)The only way that defense could be broken down was by
    a) using speed to connect with the ball when it is dropped behind the line. Yet, not one barca player could outrace his counterpart from Bayern, (not even Dembele).
    The other option was to shoot from outside. The boys obviously don't know how to shoot.
    Hence, their inability to create chances.

    • picking Mingueza as a LB, we saw how that went the previous time and yet still Xavi picked him. Could've just put Balde in.
    • We need scoring midfielders & wingbacks/fullbacks. We depend on our forwards too much, we can't even score to save our own lives right now.

Busquet is the weakest link against such teams and he is the anchor of our midfield but he's old and very slow now and he couldn't do much when no one cover for this weakness. Meanwhile our other midfielders simply don't have creativity and physicality which means our mid is completely dead and exposed. Also there are players like Lenglet who just don't understand what it means to play for Barca... I feel like some of the players have developed such loser mentality that it's okay to lose... We need to stop starting old players like Busquet and start unloading overpaid players who don't contribute anything and don't fit our system at all.

    Muller was spot on with his analysis. To be honest, it was the more experienced and long time Barca players were the problem. Pique, Busquets, Lenglet, DeJong, Depay, and TerStegen all put in a somewhat anemic effort, in my opinion. I thought the Barca youngsters put in a better effort in garbage time. Xavi has a huge task ahead of him. Remember, just because Xavi was a legendary player and deeply cares, doesn’t mean he is capable of getting the job done.

Look at Halland, Mbappe, Salah, Vinny Jr, Messi, Ronaldo, Rashford, "prime Suarez", Ronaldo Nazario, Van Basten, Fernando Torres, Deigo Forlan, etc......Depay is good in some areas but not the actual one we need. I personally feel Grizzy is better than him becuz Grizzy actually helps out a lot defensively.

      3-0 to Roma, embarrassing choke job.
      4-0 to LFC, even MORE embarrassing chokejob.
      8-2 to Bayern, worst defeat in club history

    As a Bayern fan: Thanks for giving props to Thomas Müller for his honesty. I know his words probably hurt, but he didn't mean to rub salt into the wound, he respects Barca's rich history and was simply being honest. I mean: Look at the physical intensity and also at the hunger for success that the Bayern players had, compared to the Barca players. Bayern were already guaranteed 1st in the group before the game yet still fielded their best squad and were hungry for the win and for goals, even after going 3-0 up. Just watch the reactions of the players when Sané misses the 95% chance to score the 4th goal: They were incredibly disappointed despite it being almost entirely irrelevant if they score more goals or not - they just have that absolute drive to succeed as much as possible. I didn't see that in most Barca players.

  • @MarkManuel15
    @MarkManuel15 3 года назад +6

    Yes the Europa League sounds a little embarrassing for a club like Barça but IMO it is not the end of the world at all. This team is in a building phase and not ready to compete in the CL yet, so the EL is prob a nice competition where to practice at an appropriate intensity for right now (well, hopefully Barça can compete in the EL lol). Gotta go step by step. Also, a lot of English teams are in EL often, like Chelsea who won it in 2019 (now the CL champion), United, Arsenal, Liverpool in 2016, etc. Heck, the Spurs are in the Conference League.

    Football has changed. Barcelona plays the old style tiki taka. They don't move around. When you watch Bayern, what I see is, individuals move the ball in spaces when they see an empty space. That helps to advance the ball up the pitch. Barca only wants to pass the ball around. You don't see any one utilizing any space and taking ppl on. This is also why barca scored a lot in the Messi era. Messi would run with the ball, which usually open up spaces.

  • @tjkim1999
    @tjkim1999 3 года назад +2

    Once again, Lenglet made zero errors this game. His passing was on point, there was simply no way for him to get to that ball that Muller headed that you keep blaming him for. It wasn't his man to mark in that moment. That was Mingueza. I don't know how much football you play, Jaime, but whether we're talking about football or tennis, or any other ball sport, the reason that lobs are so effective in every sport when executed well is this: in the words of my own coach, "it's easy to run forward to the ball, but much *much* harder to backtrack for a ball." This is why tennis players only go forward when they know they've created a strong advantage. This is why footballers don't run backwards to receive passes but try to time their forward run to meet the ball. This is *why* Muller made his run clearly *behind* Lenglet. Who TF anticipates such a perfectly executed lob pass?
    95% of the time, Lenglet would have been in position to intercept the ball. You can say what you want about his attitude after the game, but his performance this game was solid. He was at fault for nothing and he broke the Bayern lines time and time again with his passing. Nothing revolutionary, but good progression.

    • @tjkim1999
      @tjkim1999 3 года назад +1

      Also, again you don't understand what Braithwaite has to offer. He may not be quite as technical as we might want, but he is the exact profile of forward player that Xavi needs. Someone who will stick to his role and be in the right position. He is the player who will be at the far post to tuck the easy ball away when the other "winger" cuts the ball across.

    Xavi is there for the long run. I was not too keen on some of his choices yesterday. Araujo felt lost at right back. Mingueza is an awful left back. But we need to give him time to rebuild.
    I hope Pique sticks to his own words after the 8-2 that he would go if he is part of the problem. In modern football we cannot play with players who cannot cut it physically anymore like Pique and Busquets. They will always be legends but all these losses I feel are tarnishing their legacy. The club could well use saving up on their salaries.

    Jamie. It's kinda harsh to blame that Muller's header on Lenglet. Muller was Mingueza's mark and his bad positioning caused that goal. Don't forget that Koeman repeatedly yelled at Mingueza's positining before. Lenglet stayed central and was ready to clear the second ball so he was alright.

    I see a lot of people here blaming players and past coaches for the horrible performances we've been getting from Barca in recent years, and rightly so. However, it seems these folks are quick to forget that we've been having difficulties competing at top level in the Champion's league even while Messi, Suarez, and Iniesta were in the team. We performed horribly against Juventus (2016-2017), Roma (2017-2018), Liverpool (2018-2019), and Bayern (2019 - 2020) consecutively in the tournament, conceding tons of goals. So, if the problem is intensity related, doesn't that point at both a playing style/coaching issue?

I can overlook any defeat, no matter the score, but Lenglet’s attitude after the game truly shows what’s he’s about. A player like that will never give it his all nor does he have what it takes to play for a club like this.
