      Dear Sir,
      I primarily work with Microsoft Excel 2021. Additionally, I use Microsoft Excel 365 online (free version with limited functions), Analysis ToolPak, various Excel add-in, and Google Sheets.

      This sounds like a good range of tools. How do you find Google Sheets vs. Excel?

    Thank you for your wonderful webinars on VBA. VBA is wonderful for making spreadsheets work for users who are not as tech-savvy.

      **Excel** is superior for advanced data analysis, complex computations, and offline access, making it indispensable for heavy data tasks. **Google Sheets** is great for collaboration and accessibility, but lacks the depth and power of Excel for professional data work.

      Great summary - but how many rows can Google Sheets handle? I'm wondering if there's a limit ...

    • @sanimunir
      @sanimunir 3 месяца назад +1

      I haven't personally tested the limits of Google Sheets, but I've heard that it can handle up to 10 million cells in a single sheet.

    • @TigerSpreadsheetSolutions

      This I find interested. Since Excel struggles beyond around 2-300 000 rows, I find. Could Google Sheets be the solution?

    Learning power query it’s absolutely amazing 🤩

  • @MM-nr8nf

    I rely heavily on VBA. Be it in Excel or Outlook. Data acquisition from CSV files and preparing to be used in PowerPivot. Or writing code in Outlook to get ALL emails address received in the last 12 months - and this code is then circulated among the sales team and returns excel files from the team - helps in harvesting email addresses which can create a accurate marketing email database. I can go on with lot of examples which VBA can do and no other tool can replace it currently. And my codes are from past 20 years running still. So lot of time saved in automating rather than writing code every time the software changes.

      I have a similar experience and agree nothing replicates the power of VBA ... in fact nothing comes close, in my view. Thank you for the thoughtful comments and see you again soon.

    Thank you. Many individuals heavily rely on Excel formulas but encounter difficulties with data conversion. My expertise lies in VBA and Power Query (PQ). I extensively utilize PQ as it is an exceptional tool for data cleansing and consolidation.

  • @Awachupi

    I do not use VBA for data clearing, I have been always using PQ. BUT, recently I was in need to automate creating multiple spreadsheets from one, saving it to a folder etc. VBA both in Excel and Outlook literally saved me! I now have the e-mail with attachment ready with 2 clicks on Excel and 2 clicks on Outlook (still thinking ot is too many lol).

    • @TigerSpreadsheetSolutions

      I love this. You know all the tools pretty well and can select the best one for the job, without too much bias. This is the sign of a true pro, in my opinion. You also want to look at Power Automate for the email job. PQ is often my tool of choice for data cleansing, too. Keep it up!

    All said and done correctly my friend. I am currently learning VBA, watching your 30Days + any beginners stuff, and I have a phrase also to share -
    "Humans had always been creating their own prisons! "
    I need VBA to automate stuff in my work , since I deal with unbearable workload , and our IT guys from abroad have locked any VBA related stuff, Power Automate is forbidden, Office Scripts are forbidden, just because a colleague once in Portugal, opened a silly email with a PDF attachment and was hacked!
    Multinational company locking Microsoft Ecosystem tools is REALLY STUPID! especially when the company's ERP is MS NAV.
    What can I say - stupidity can't be corrected even with VBA...🤣

    One of the best tools I have found for data exploration and cleansing is filters. You can find miss-spellings, cities which do not belong with regions / states, numerals which are text instead of numbers, etc. And adding subtotals with filters is great for data analysis.

    • @TigerSpreadsheetSolutions
      @TigerSpreadsheetSolutions  3 месяца назад

      Absolutely. And the FILTER formula speeds up filtering, too. Always good to see you, Geoffrey!

    To be honest on daily basis I work with Share Point but it often gets bug and sometimes I can't save my latest version of the file. And also I found Excel easier when I open it on the Desktop version. Another limitation is when you work in cloud, all your moves are saved automatically, the desktop version you have a choice. But I liked the video! Thank you for all your lessons!

    Great video. Yes there is urgent need to filter out noise and stop wasting time on non required learning and focus more on the required skills. There are thousands of programming softwares and wasting time to learn each and every nuance can just keep you busy and frustrated as you don’t have to apply in practical everything you see on the net. Just focus on important skills and programs and apply in your job. Better to practice one move 1000 times rather than 1000 moves one time.

    is SQL still worth doing?

    • @TigerSpreadsheetSolutions
      @TigerSpreadsheetSolutions  3 месяца назад

      Great question and I'm not an expert. I believe SQL comes into play when dealing with larger datasets eg. 300 000+ rows. I haven't really encountered it in my career, but my datasets tend to be on the smaller side. What do you think?

    • @derekporter66
      @derekporter66 3 месяца назад +1

      @TigerSpreadsheetSolutions I want to get out of IT. but many jobs I do look for still want SQL

    • @TigerSpreadsheetSolutions
      @TigerSpreadsheetSolutions  3 месяца назад +1

      You mean there are non-IT jobs that required SQL? My general advice would be: learn everything a bit, and specialise in one thing so that people know you for that (for me that's probably VBA). But, remember people give jobs to people who they want to be around everyday, not necessarily the best technician. If people like you, they will give you time to learn the technical side which is never that difficult - especially with Google, AI and many other sources of help ... Just my two pennies!

      It depends what kind of projects you're working on.
      But for me, the answer is - it's definitely worth learning.
      I'd recommend re-watching to understand what I'm saying - it's not a yes / no and depends on context.
