- What is the state of play in Aotearoa? Protests, allegations around Manurewa Marae and Te Pati Māori. Joining Moana Maniapoto to discuss that - and a renewed call for a Māori parliament are: Hinurewa Te Hau, former Te Paati Māori candidate who ran for National in 2022. Shane Te Pou, commentator and former Labour Party activist and Matthew Tukaki - General Manager of Radio Waatea.
Great to see such important dialogue actually taking place. THANK YOU MOANA.
Very disappointing TPM breaking the law regarding privacy of those census forms!! Very very shady
Proof not allegation
They have stated you don’t need to ask permission from white people, you just do it .. that’s their attitude.. Their i intention is to overthrow due process, to overthrow the checks and balances that are established in our society. All you need to do is see how they disrespect parliament. They have no respect for parliament and have even broken their oath of office they should be removed from parliament. But that’s That’s what we’re dealing with, a racist political party Who wants to decolonize NZ. What does that mean decolonization? Does this mean digging up the roads? Does this mean that people won’t use the wheel, that we won’t be able to have wool? We won’t be able to use metal we won’t be able to have horses or potatoes ? Or
Decolonization is just another racist ideology of critical theory. People should be suspicious of anyone pushing such Radicalism and Pseudoscience.
@@kingfillins4117is that the best excuse u could come up with??🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
Clowns Matt, you're the head clown & the joker sitting to your right,
The answer I think is VERY simple. You need to build the country from the bottom up. Like any good building, it needs a strong foundation. NZ's foundation is 1) its founding principles, namely Te Tiriti O Waitangi, maori partner ship and empowerment. And 2) Education. Educate our Maori people instead of incarcerating them. Te Reo Maori should be a core subject in NZ schools, just as English is. Address the CORE issues. Give Maori back their land where possible. If not, compensate them for it. Bring the dark history of NZ's past into the light! The only way we can move on is by knowing our past, and NEVER repeating the same mistakes made by those who came before us. Correct the injustices of the past, right the wrongs. Why are so many Maori anti establishment? Because their whanau are STILL suffering the effects of brutal RAUPATU - mass land confiscation. Millions of hectares of Maori land STOLEN under brutal Colonial occupation! Their land stolen and NEVER returned, their Tipuna murdered or incarcerated simply for being maori, displaced from their own fertile land and rounded up and dumped on worthless land that the colonists knew they could do nothing with, relegating many maori whanau to a life of poverty. The Maori economy was a thriving one before the Pakeha came to our shores. Maori were importing and exporting goods before the Pakeha arrived. It can be that way again, but ONLY if Maori are empowered, the injustices corrected and Maori people seen as equal. Until then, we will NEVER be 1 people.
How is Apartheid a strong foundation? How is institutional and systematic racism a strong foundation? That’s what you are essentially suggesting.
There was nothing in the treaty about partnership. The concept of partnership was put forward in a legal case but the lawyer didn’t even say that partnership was a principal of the treaty. He said it was like a partnership he didn’t say it was a partnership. Mori became subjects of the crown. . They seated sovereignty. That’s why some protested the signing of the treaty because they knew it was seedings sovereignty however, it was likely viewed as better than living under The threat of tribal warfare, slavery, lack of warm clothing, lack of modernization, etc. What is moving from a Stone Age culture With no written language, without metal, etc to a vastly more advanced society in just a few years worth?
@@kingfillins4117 APARTHEID!? Are you CRAZY? MAORI have had our land stolen, MAORI language has been surpressed in the mainstream world, MAORI people are far more likely to be incarcerated than Pakeha. NZ is ALREADY an apartheid regime. The crown perpetrated genocide against Maori. And this apartheid has been going on for generations!
@@kingfillins4117 Have you been living under a rock? YOU ARE LIVING IT RIGHT NOW.
How else do you explain your fear that Maori are taking everything?
The only reason the Waitangi Tribunal exists, is because Maori were training in Libya's terrorist training camps in the late 60's early 70's.
Those Maori came from a part of the country that the New Zealand Trading Company stole land, to the point NZ is apartheid in those locations, especially the Lower North Island.
Ha ha ha. ITS CALLED AOTEAROA!!!!
Im loving the national mp. Intelligent wahine there!
They need time it's so bad I won't be fixed straight away. They are the best to get it right.
National may not be great at the economy but Labour is down right awful at it.
What are your economic insights currently and how has labour been awful?
@@dangerrayy Ardern and Robertson spent to much money obviously. I would not of spent so much on 'pandemic' and locking us down for starters. They spend too much money on cultural stuff. Why are we funding Maori so much on cultural stuff? Their culture ain't going nowhere. It'll be fine. But our national debt it isn't. Close down our only refinery? That's just crazy. I could go on, and on and on...
These two men just want us to keep nose diving
“Have you dropped your rents?” … “No I haven’t dropped my rents” … 😂 … excuse wasn’t about his repayments, if any😳 … but fair play , use that system to fill your pockets 🤦🏽♂️
First things first you need to address how the treaty has been misrepresented by lawyers tribunals politicians, and activists. Unless you address how words have been mistranslated all you will be doing is spreading misinformation am misleading people.
Why bother asking what the National Party is doing and why? They are not running the country.
who is then my dear?
They are involved in the decisions now in how the country is run.
Pathetic !
This shortage of rental properties thing is a lot of rubbish! E.g. Bell Block , New Plymouth (beach, shops, two schools close by) multiple 3 -4 bedroom reasonably food properties on the market for rent, rents dropped repeatedly.... no interest at all on them!
What is there current price and how wide spread is this?
Fracturing is a very big issue that was touched on but really left on the back burner. Would be good to see a more in-depth discussion on it from Maona or some people on Moana's radar.
Yes the allegations have a big effect on us all right across the motu an inquiry is seriously needed to tackle the issue effectively any political party of any yorke ..... thanks for providing such a great cover story Moana.
Wow Mathew despite his recent health challenges is back on form
The average mine takes FIFTEEN YEARS to develop
Hey Matt, Shane , Your both bitter , and a little twisted....TePati Maori aint goin anywhere fast .
If you got your Maori Parliament, would you change the law so that maori could carry on their Stoneage practice of INFANTICIDE?
70 billion has been filtered thru to your pockets from taxpayers as if we are being charged for some crime. Maori have no care for how NZdrs are feeling about that especially with the constant attacks on Pakeha literally we have zero respect and we protest at the election voting you out.
70 billion?? Proof please!
@@himalayan8315YEA PROOF WHAT A lot OF BULLSHIT
70 billion not that much 😅
70 billion?
Thought so, no proof! The truth is, it's JUST over 2 billion! And, claims being settled at around 2 cents in the dollar.
Lets definitely have the conversion. MAORI EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE❤🤍🖤 is like a garden. Good & bad seasons come & go. 💫 more Actions 🎬 less hui ❓️ Do the Do E Te Whanau
Triple bypass Winston 😂😂😅
Thank you so much for having different views on the panel
❤❤❤
Wouldn't Maori parliament be cultural appropriation? Parliament a European invention (only kidding) & not that popular with Europeans. What about more power autonomy to traditional Maori political institutions, more localism, why not let non-Maori participate.
oh, come on Matt, 3 headed taniwha ? we just got rid of a clown show , Winston would eat your lunch mate !!
Rubbish
😅😅😅joke
GO FOR IT WHANAU, BUT WE HAVE ALOT KUPAPA THAT WOULD BE THE PROBLEMS.WE HAVE TO GO BACK TO THE LANDS GROW OUR OWN KAI, RONGO, TRADE WITH THE RUSSIANS AND OTHERS.MAORI ARE PUSHING SH,T UP HILL IF WE STAY IN THESE PAKEHA PARTY.
Most maoriland was "raupatu"
Yes go back two hundred years!
Really? modern maori do not want to do that.
I AM NOT SAYING GO BACK 200 YEARS, I SAYING WE NEED TO EAT GOOD KAI NOT EVERYTHING WITH WHITE SUGAR IN IT, AND WHAT RAUPATU GOT TO DO WITH IT WE NEED TO WORK TOGETHER AS ONE TO GET OVER THE PAST. LET THE PAKEHA GIVE 25 MILLION TO UKRAINE, OWES 1.5 TRILLION IN DEBT TO THE BANKS AND OTHERS.
BRICS?!
@@malwalker2682 I agree with growing your own food and trading with Russia. But TPM should not be in parliament. Its racist to have a party based on race, how can it be not racist? National and Labour and ACT and NZ First and the Greens are advocating across the board on what it thinks is right, whether right or wrong. The TPM are advocating for Maori's only. Can you imagine a European or Chinese party? It would never be allowed. Truth is Maori have privilege. We have a weak government that needs to stand strong on unity.
Both kupapa hard.
