My favorite parts of this episode are 1) Dean guiding Charlie through flirting with guys and 2) Bobby adopting Charlie from beyond the grave. I really wish we got more Bobby and Charlie cause I think they would have been an amazing duo.
@ryan jones I personally wasn't a fan of all the pseudo-resurrections. We know they're not the same characters with the same memories and histories with the main cast, and it just falls flat for me. We didn't REALLY have Bobby back in any meaningful way until the final episode when Dean sees him in heaven from my perspective.
@@yasmin2867 What do you mean by meant to? You really think that the CW writers in the Dabb seasons were playing 4D chess like that? It was all poorly executed fav service and unfulfilled acting contracts that required recurring actors more episodes, which is most likely why Nick was still alive in season 14.
@Verasoul Well, either they wanted us to feel that way or knew we WOULD feel that way based on the dialog. The other world's Charlie constantly reminding Sam that she's not THEIR Charlie whenever he starts getting sentimental.
I knew you would love her. Charlie is a huge fan favorite and a wonderful bright spot in this season. While I adore Bobby, it is painful to watch him struggle to beat the odds as a spirit. This is such an up and down season but when it's good, it is REALLY good. 💖
Felicia Day, at this point, had become known for her independent web series The Guild, which she created and starred in, where her character is part of an online RPG group. So she had sort of made a reputation as an adorkable nerd girl by this point, haha.
@@kateorgera5907 Rowling herself even admitted that she shouldn't have paired Ron and Hermione and Harry and Ginny. She said she did it because it was in her notes and she only wrote from her outlines not organically allowing the characters to go where they wanted. That's why Hermione had such a personality shift at the beginning of Half-Blood Prince, Rowling had to take Hermione's focus OFF Harry where it had been focused like a laser for 5 books and put it on Ron. Which was the biggest character assassination ever done in fiction. HERMIONE was griping about Harry doing well in class when she had been riding him for 5 years to take his studies more seriously. Also, Rowling didn't even show the R/Hr relationship mature and in the late 20teens, she said that the two never would have gotten together or if they did, it would end in divorce. Same with Harry and Ginny, Ginny was a fangirl Mary Sue.
I have never seen Super Natural before but couldn't help myself but to click when I saw Feleica Day (Charli) on the thumbnail. Love your reactions always
Yes, this was a wonderful episode. Charlie was one of my favorite characters on this whole series. Yes, you're right. She's the sister that Sam and Dean DID want, only they haven't accepted that yet. Yes, the final scene with Dick Roman and his goons coming after Charlie was VERY intense indeed. The addition of Charlie insured that Supernatural had become a girl's show by the latter part of Season 7.
You know, although I realize that cooler heads should prevail, the idea of the vengeful spirit of Bobby being the one to destroy Dick Roman, that would have been a particularly lovely treat. Alas. Nice to see you love Charlie despite her slander towards Ron, which yes, said slander will not stand.
You're spot on in your description of the Leviathans: Great on paper (terrifying when describing them), poor on execution (when trying to draw them out as the big baddies for the entire season).
I don't understand why they tried to make the oldest monster in creation the most modern in methods. It makes very little sense. I actually do love the idea of a monster that attacks this way, but why is it this one? They would have ruled through might and instinct, not the stock market.
Fyi Frank is dead. You missed it in the reaction when they got that email from him it’s said “if your reading this that means I’m dead and someone is trying to hack into my system.”
I love Charlie so much. I have loved Felicia since Buffy. She is amazing! I love how they utilize her. I love the lesbian rep with her. I love the flirting scene! It is such an interesting choice though. From them establishing she is incapable of flirting with him because she is a lesbian. Then they bring Dean in to flirt and even edit it so his face is in the middle of the split... just so funny how they scream "how can anyone possibly think we even considered bi Dean?!?" But everything about that scene is written and cut to scream Dean is flirting with this guy and good at it. It cracks me up.
The little sister I never wanted.... Gods I never related more to Dean than that line. Charlie is a sweet bean who needs to be protected at all COSTS. Dean and I share a close birthday and close backstory, which is why I relate so close to the character. When it comes to adopted siblings, I treat them as close as my Little Big Brother lmao
Just because she thinks Hermione ended up with the wrong person, is not necessarily Ron slander. It just means that she doesn't think that he is the right person for Hermione. lol
Charli is the sister I wish the Winchesters' had. I can't say if you'll see her again or not. Unique to SuperNatural all monsters are human. Leviathans are basic monsters. Not complex at all. They are scary but not complicated. After so many episodes where you didn't know if the person was a vamp/shifter/wraith, the fandom got used to complicated monsters.
Let's take a moment and contemplate the super bananas tech hurricane that could have been if Charlie, Frank and Ash got together with a plan. I don't know if there's a fanfic with those three.. but there does need to be. Isn't it a little odd that just a second ago, Bobby could barely manifest but now he can put his hands on a wall of glass and break it?
When I watched this season as it was broadcast, I was underwhelmed. On subsequent series rewatches however, it might be one of my favorite seasons. That is probably a very unpopular opinion, lol, but this season has some of my favorite episodes ever. This one being one of them. Along with some really good humor throughout. Anyway, I really enjoy your reactions Jess.
My biggest pet peeve with season 7 is that the writers stripped Sam and Dean (and the show, really) of everything that makes it compelling to watch. Ok, they gave us Garth and a little bit of Sheriff Mills, but they took Bobby and the Impala, and they took away all the fun. The Winchester brothers had not had a win in a looooong time. The fate of Bobby is like a wet paper towel on an episode that would be a bonfire of joy otherwise. But it's still a wonderful episode, making every fandom nerd proud to be put in the same basket as Charlie.
season 7 has truly grown to be one of my favorites over the years. i know the fandom doesn't love it, but it holds a def. place in my heart. all the dick jokes alone make it a bit redeemable.haha.
Charlie is easily one of the best characters ever created in the Supernatural universe. She was the boys' 4th recurring female helper (after Jo and Hellen, and Jody) and she doesn't disappoint... I really love the girls who help the boys, they are just iconic and two others (who also make my heart flutter even more) will show up to steal the show) they are Donna and Eileen (remember those names)
For me, the reason I didn't initially like season 7 has nothing directly to do with the leviathans. I didn't like season 7 because, compared to what SPN had been in the past, season 7 did not FEEL like SPN. I don't know how to explain that further. It just didn't seem like the SPN I had come to expect. It had a different vibe and it took me a while to get into the new vibe. NOW, I really like season 7. It's still not my favorite, but I do like it, and I find the leviathans amusing, tbh.
Have you watched Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Return?(2017) I watched the 1980-1999 series during that period and when I heard who was playing the villain, oh got to watch it.
