Hey guys got 2 vids I would highly recommend you checking out even if you don't do a reaction vid to them (they are other utubers, couple who are one of the biggest wow utubers for while). The vid is split into 2 parts:
"What is The Best Music in Warcraft? Part 1: Numbers 10-6"
"What is The Best Music in Warcraft? The Top 5"
The music playing in Jaina's mum cutaway scene is called "Jaina's Theme" and is in the top 10 list above. One of many amazing pieces of music from Blizzard. Expansions come and go and some have been better than others over the years, but one thing is for sure. The music team has never failed a single expansion to put out amazing pieces of music :). Keep up the great work guys, you easily 1 of my favourite utube reactors ben watching for a while now. Hope you guys have a wonderful Christmas and enjoy the amazing music in those 2 vids :)

Another thing I forgot to mention definitely worth checking out (even better if you were to react to it) is the Warcraft movie. It's very good and will give you some pretty good insight into the history of Azeroth and has some important lore characters and events set early in the timeline, like how the horde got to Azeroth and began fighting the alliance, why the orcs came under the leadership of Gul Dan (the orc who killed king Varion in the legion cinematic) and how "The Fel" (which was offered to orcs as green drink in Warlords of Draneor cinematic) injected the land of Azeroth.
I know you guys don't usually do movie reactions, but please please could you make an exception for this movie seen as you done a big wow journey, I think it would be great thing to watch after seeing all the cinematics you will get alot more out of the movie :)

So jainas backstory goes as this. Jaina was the leader of her neutral city nation Theramore. When the new horde was forming she aided them cuz she wanted them to live in peace with the rest of azeroth. When her father came and saw a new horde forming he wanted to go to war with them cuz all he knew was the old horde that invaded and ravaged the planet. When her father refused to see reason and still insisted on annihaleting the horde she saw no other option but to ‘stand aside’ and let the horde to kill his father for peace( cut off the head of the snake mentality) Much later when Garrosh became warchief of the horde who was adamant on waging war on everybody he led an assault on Theramore which obviously had ties to the alliance but was generally neutral. He knew Bain(the tauren leader who was friends with jaina) would warn her thus baiting alliance reinforcements and key figures into the city and then dropped a manabomb on it(basically nuking the city) which resulted in everyone in it except jaina dying. Hence her guilt and hatred towards the horde. I would advise rewatching her warbingers cinematic after knowing this cuz basically this is what the song daughter of the sea is about. Its the tale told from the perspactive of her fathers man after they returned to kul tiras. Also she used to have blond hair, but when Garrosh dropped the bomb on Theramore she was pushed through a portal to safety in the last moment and the bombs energy touched her hair turning it white.

One of the most memorable lines from any story for me.
"I'm sorry Arthas, I can't watch you do this."

Well, not immediately crazy for long after Theramore's destruction. She planned to use the Focusing Iris (key component of the mana bomb) to tsunami Orgrimmar, but Kalecgos convinced her otherwise. Varian actually wanted her to throw the blood elves out of Dalaran, but she said no.
It was only after the Sunreavers allowed Garrosh's hit squad to raid Darnassus through Dalaran's wards did she go "crazy" and throw the Horde supporters out of the so-far neutral Dalaran.

Just a FYI tidbit of trivia.
The cutscene showing King Anduin and the rest marching into the throne room to take Sylvanas into custody is the exact same cutscene used in the game Warcraft III when Arthas marches into the throne room to murder his father the King of Lordaeron. They are identical camera angles etc. Done as a little homage to that scene from the older game.

It's important to note that in the "Realm of Torment" cutscene where Jaina's mother briefly lives through Jaina's memories, the people standing behind Jaina when her mother walks up to her are all people that are close friends or loved ones of Jaina whose deaths she feels personally responsible for. From left to right: Rhonin (her mentor), Kinndy Sparkshine (her apprentice), King Varian Wrynn (her king), Uther the Lightbringer, (Arthas' mentor), Daelin Proudmoore (her father), Arthas Menethil (her ex-lover). The first two died when her port of Theramore was destroyed. She blamed herself for making peace with the Horde and trusting them for so long. She blamed herself for Varian Wrynn's death because she believes she should have been strong enough to protect him in the battle that you saw in an earlier cutscene. She blamed herself for her father's death because she refused to fight alongside him against orcs and instead brokered for peace with them - they accepted, but her father refused and fought them to the death. She blamed herself for Uther and Arthas' death because when he decided to cull the city of Stratholme to prevent the plague of undeath spreading, she could not bear to see it nor to oppose him when he argued with Uther (who thought purging the city was an insane proposal) and so she just kind of walked away.

Jaina would have been around 9 at the time, and Rhonin was with Vereesa until his death (fathering the twin half-elves Giramar and Galadin). Jaina was with Arthas in her youth, and later Kalec(gos).

Too be fair, she made Theramore a massive target by taking in tons of Alliance troops and top military brass which screams to anyone that the Alliance was going to use Theramore as a jumping point for an invasion of Middle Kalimdor. Garrosh simply waited till they had a ton of brass there to try and behead the Alliance before dropping the bomb.

  • @Alex-dn5ns
    @Alex-dn5ns 2 года назад +34

    Okay, so!
As the Horde seeks to find a new ally, they sail to Zandalar, which is home to the Zandalari Empire, the most powerful and advanced troll society. Their leader was King Rastakhan, and his daughter was named Talanji. Now, trolls, generally, base their faith around Loa, which are benevolent or malevolent beings or spirits. There are countless loa, some, more powerful than others. Rezan, for example, the "T-rex" was the Loa of Kings and Queens, and, during the Horde campaign in-game, he is killed and then resurrected, if I remember correctly. Bwonsamdi, on the other hand, is the Loa of Graves, whose "boss" is Mueh'zala, the God of Death.
On the Alliance side of things, Jaina returns to Kul Tiras, as you can see, and she is immediately imprisoned. The woman to her mother's left is Lady Priscilla Ashvane, her mother's best friend, and, as it turns out, a venomous snake. She's the head of House Ashvane, one of the noble houses in Kul Tiras, as well as the head of the Ashvane Trading Company. She was a long-time friend of Katherine Proudmoore, Jaina's mother, but sought to usurp her. So, with Katherine's "blessing" she imprisoned Jaina on Fate's End, an island from where no one ever returned to. There, Jaina was caught by Gorak Tul, who was the leader of the Drust, the Drust being an ancient and mostly extinct population indigenous to Kul Tiras until some 3000 years prior, when Gilnean sailors arrived to Kul Tiras, fought them and eventually settled down to form Kul Tiras as it is today. It's a much longer story. The Drust wielded powerful death magic, and, upon defeat, Gorak Tul along with most of his slain Drust went to a dark realm called Thros, where they resided since. It's a dark and grim land at the crossroads between many realms of death. So Gorak Tul pulled Jaina into Thros, where she was condemned to relive all her terrible memories in an endless loop, starting from the time when she was with Arthas and couldn't stop him from going down the dark path towards becoming the Lich King, to the moment where her mother basically sentenced her to death. Again, through a long questline, you end up taking Katherine, her mother, to the island, and subsequently to Thros, to find Jaina, as she realized Priscilla Ashvane betrayed her.
Then, Priscilla Ashvane seeks to attack the harbor with her small fleet, and Jaina calls on her father's fleet using the necklace. That fleet is led by Jaina's long lost brother, Tandred Proudmoore. Basically, a few months before Jaina returned to Kul Tiras, Tandred and his entire fleet disappeared, with everyone thinking they'd been lost at sea, when in fact, they were trapped in a magical storm summoned by Tidesages, basically, water priests, in service of Queen Azshara of the Naga.
Also, important tidbit, Jaina and Tandred had another brother, Derek, who died during the Second War.

BTW, The city you see in the trailer that the alliance is sieging is Lordaeron, the same city where Arthas is from and where he killed his father in the very same throne room you saw Sylvanas sitting on. Arthas is the one who turned Sylvanas into an undead banshee and forced her to serve him for eternity. Sylvana's hatred of the living is in big part associated to such enslavement of her soul and the events directly after it. After Sylvanas rebelled and gained freedom from Arthas, she made Lordaeron her home, ruling over the undead that split off the Lich King's army, called the Forsaken. Directly under the throne room you saw is Undercity the capital of the undead in the game. Now you can see the extra touch of Anduin laying siege to this city, and banishing Sylvanas from that throne room in a very similar fashion to how the undead laid siege to the city and how Arthas killed his father there.

Great reaction can't wait for the second part! :D There are some game cutscenes between these cinematics that expand on the story and characters but I understand you don't want to have 2h long videos :D. But basically in these stories....Alliance is dealing with family drama while Horde is trying to stop the waking of the newest Old God (G'huun). The big monster was actually a minion of that Old God. On the other hand, Bwonsamdi the Loa of death isn't so bad. He actually cares about his followers and is also helping the player character on some occasions. Captain of the Kul Tiras fleet (who Jaina summoned) is Jaina's brother. There was also a cutscene between Anduin and Saurfang right before the throne room cinematic. Horde version of this cinematic is slightly different...there Baine (leader of Tauren) is yelling at Sylvanas that she left Saurfang to die (This is important for later as Baine was good friend with Saurfang and shared his ideology). Also, your drinks look delicious.

So. A couple of things happened from the end of Legion where the Horde and Alliance are basically celebrating the end of a major threat to going to war with one another that wasn't really shown in the trailer. As you've seen in the ending cinematic of legion a new ore was discovered near the site where Sargeras's Sword was left and Goblins have been scrambling to mine it all up. It was soon discovered that the ore wasn't just any ordinary ore formed from the earth, but the actual crystalized lifeblood of the planet Azeroth. Seeing as this is what it was the ore was soon dubbed "Azerite". They also discovered that Azerite can do many wonderful things. Such as boosting magical prowess as well as physical capabilities. They also make things go boom really really well which the goblins obviously love. So an arms race basically happened with the new ore with both the Alliance and Horde scrambling to get as much of the precious material as possible. Now while it is most commonly found in Azeroth's most recent wound, this isn't the only place it can be found and isn't even the first time this precious ore popped up. Goblins in their old hometown of Kezan, before it was wiped off the earth with a volcano from the Cataclysm, dug deep enough into the earth to find this precious ore. Seeing as there wasn't really much of it found in their mines, it didn't become common knowledge. Now that a lot of it is aboveground, the goblins recognized what it was and knew how precious it is giving the horde a headstart with mining it. As the sword of Sargeras was plunged into Silithus, an area located in Kalimdor, the Horde thought it best to monopolize the ore by keeping the last major capital city of the Alliance in the continent hostage. They planned this by seiging the city and then killing one of the cities leaders to both demoralize and keep the remaining populace compliant as hostages. They proceeded to march their armies right at Teldrassil and the seige was mostly successful. They managed to kick out the defending alliance out and surround the city to keep it hostage but, they failed in assassinating one of their leaders as Saurfang, the orc given resposibility with killing said leader, let the leader go as he attacked the leader when he was unaware of him and the leader was dueling Sylvanas. Seeing as he struck dishonorably, he let the leader be taken away to be healed. Sylvanas now knowing that she can't keep a whole city as big as Teldrassil hostage without its people rallying behind the very much alive leader, she opted the raze the city to the ground. This kinda pushed the Alliance to do the same with Lordaeron, a horde capital that was once a major Alliance city that fell during Arthas's undead romp through Azeroth and was soon claimed by the surviving undead who wasn't loyal to Arthas. That is where the beggining cinematic here picks up, the Alliance assaulting a major horde capital.

Great video as always! Only thing I'm a bit saddened about is that you missed out on the Horde version of the Throne cinematic (the one between Sylvanas and the Alliance), as it shows a clear fracture in the Horde, with one of the Horde leaders calling out Sylvanas for leaving one of her own men to die. Fortunately, it's pretty much the same as the Alliance counterpart with the exception being the first 30 seconds or so, so you didn't miss out ^^
A small bit of info about the troll cinematics, in case you're curious. =)
As I mentioned in your previous video, there are 4 Old Gods on the planet. However, when the titan-forged (creations of the Titans) were left to guard the planet, they started experimenting on them in order to find a way to kill them without harming the planet.
This resulted in the accidental creation of a "false" Old God, G'huun. G'huun is located on Zuldazar (the continent with all the trolls), and it was kept in check with 3 seals, one in each of the 3 zones, Zuldazar, Nazmir and Voldun.
As we journey through the lands, we learn that as massive battle happened a long time ago in Voldun between Mythrax (the large monster you saw in the cutscene) and one of the Loa, which resulted in the death of both, and the destruction of one of the seals. The 2nd seal that is located in Nazmir was destroyed during the Cataclysm, which meant that only 1 of the 3 seals were still active and keeping G'huun contained.
However, as you saw, a coup happens and Zul (the troll fighting Rastakhan), Mythrax, who had been resurrected by Zul, and a group of other trolls, assaulted the capital of Zandalar, where the last seal is located.
However, despite winning the fight against Zul and his fanatical cult, the seal was nonetheless destroyed in the battle, and G'huun was now free of his prison. Zul knew all of this would happen, as he was born with a rare gift that allows him to see into the future. This means that he knew exactly what would occur, which is also why he simply drops his sword during his fight with Rastakhan, as he knows that he'd die in that fight and later be revived by G'huun.

@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Yeah. Blizzard has gotten a bit tighter recently with their stuff for some reason. :/
Luckliy, it didn't change *too* much from the Alliance version (only the 1st minute is different), besides showing the leader of the cow people (the tauren) protesting against Sylvanas for "abandoning Saurfang to die out there", and Nathanos (the male human with the red eyes) and Sylvanas having a small intimate moment (they were lovers in life) before he left Sylvanas in the throne room to await the Alliance. It's linked down below, if you're interested.
      ruclips.net/video/nTowPRMsiEA/видео.html
If you want a bit of extra lore regarding the trolls, I'd heavily recommended that you watch PlatinumWoW's "Biggest LOSERS of Warcraft", which I'll link down below. The depth of the trolls' history is so huge that no comment wouldn't do it justice. His videos are absolutely amazing. Not only is he explaining the lore of WoW in a great and often hilarious way, but the way he shows it on screen just nails it perfectly. You'd definitely enjoy it, if you find the time. =)
      ruclips.net/video/AgQbzEhXsNg/видео.html
But just to give you an idea about just how much influence the existence of the trolls have had on Azeroth, just know that all elves actually originates from trolls.
In short, there was a subrace of trolls called the "Dark Trolls" who settled near the Well of Eternity. As generations passed, they slowly evolved (or devolved in the eyes of the trolls) into the Night Elves due to the power of the Well. Small groups of the Night Elves then later turned into the High/Blood Elves (the race Sylvanas and the elves of the Horde belong to), the Nightborne, and all the other subraces. Of course, this is just the tip of the massive, Titanic-sinking iceberg, so I'll just let you two figure it out yourselves as you watch more videos ^^

Hm, this list already raises some red flags to me. That might just be me being iffy about getting all the context there, but I feel like BfA should incorporate some in-game cinematics and some cutscenes, as all 6 playable zones have their own story (Kul'tiras is divided by a corruption of leadership, Zandalar is taken over by a backstabbing cult) and each zone ends with a cinematic leading to the overarching plot of each. For example, the Bwonsamdi cinematic as well as the fleet reappearing ones are the complete conclusions of both story arcs. But you still don't know who Rezan, or even Rastaban are, or why Priscilla Ashvane was at Catherine's side in one scene, and leading pirates in the other.
Remember that blue, white and yellow crystal from the end of Legion? You're supposed to see more of it in these, as they're relevant to both stories. But anyway.
Hey come to think of it, if you take your time with these some more, you'll be able to also go through all of Shadowlands! UNFORTUNATELY I remember talking about the Complete History videos, and the ones that were recommended, well, they won't have the Shadowlands things in it. Can I recommend something about those? Even if we're still a bit far from seeing them? Watch the longer one first (The Nobbel video), comment on it, and all, and finish it off with the shorter one. I feel the shorter one spins things down a bit in a weird layman terms / humor way that feels like a small refresher. (Also both videos are not 100% accurate, one may have a tidbit the other doesn't, and vice versa) but as I said, the Nobbel one's more detailed.

She was a treasure in Warcraft 3 and still is after having gone through absolute hell. Ugh, fucking Garrosh. Theramore was such a horrible tragedy, far above and beyond the purging of Stratholme and facing Arthas in the ICC dungeons.

Soooo apparently RUclips decided I didn't need to be subbed anymore? I was wondering why I hadn't seen any content from you guys lol
Anyway, not going to be super negative as I can be when I talk about WoW- especially modern. Don't get me wrong, older WoW had a lot of issues too, it's simply that retail is of its own making.
So positives- the Talanji scene with her arms up as the Alliance fleet was decimated is one of my favorites. Absolutely loved her character as on the Horde side you can actually quest through a whole zone with her and learn her views- one of which being that she yearns to be a good leader and change her people for the better. She starts by literally going into a cursed swamp to stop an era-long territorial war from becoming a continent spanning one! Extremely cool zone too.
The Jaina/Catherine stuff is hard for me to like due to those cutscenes being between the entire main-story quest; but only at the beginning and end.
Going through Kul Tiras actually bored me to tears after playing through Zandalar as it's so weirdly detached from the main story, whereas Zandalar felt more fluid even though they are basically the same story through a different lens. I think the poor story boarding did it a massive disservice.
Oh and the launch cinematic- you guys aren't the only ones who still get chills at the faction rallying cries! It's a shame how bad the reasoning was for the faction war this time around. They literally could have had the war due to the Alliance under Greymane (the werewolf) attacking and destroying a Horde fleet unprovoked during Legion. Instead that was ignored… for genocide. There are few things a character can't come back from. That's definitely one of those things.
Then again the whole story is just bad now so- I don't know anymore honestly.
Loved the reactions! Gonna watch part 2 tomorrow after work.
Hope you two are having a good week into next year! :)

Thanks so much, Nathan! RUclips has been weird lately and we have had several people say that they have been unsubscribed from us or aren’t seeing notifications 😢
Bummer the game hasn’t been as good as it was. We are more detached from it so it’s more of a watching experience than playing experience. Feels like the more invested in characters and seeing them evolve over the years a person is, it would be harder and more egregious to see such a heel turn on them in game and lore wise. So we can definitely see why people haven’t loved direction they are taking some of the favorite characters in game.
We are still enjoying our journey and we now attach ourselves to characters versus alliance or horde. We love Jaina and Saurfang in this part. In legion we loved Illidan. All characters we want to continue to explore 😀

    Can't wait other parts
Few references that could show some more light
Opening cinematic, anduin dropping his sword and healing army, is kind of a summary of his initial journey as a king,
From the moment of 'what am I supposed to do now father? - what a king must do'
Him picking up a sword of his father, trying to be king like he did, so the culmination of cinematic, of him dropping the sword, and realising whom he really is, a very powerful priest, u can see thst in the eyes, and the smile that appeared.
    Later on 'magic ship cinematic'
As anduin and crew walked into the city and throne room, was exactly the same as warcraft 3 cinematic, of arthas arrival to kill his father
Both alliance leaders, look alike, both wielding the light at the time, arthas a paladin, anduin a priest
The gate opening is super iconic
Young zandalari troll priestess, at the start of expansion was a prisoner in alliance stockades along zul as she was connected to the horde, which help she sought to help sort issues in the kingdom led by her father who neglected a lot of issues and problem, which ultimately lead to scenes u saw.
Zandalar is the oldest, and used to be biggest troll empire, long thought to be lost, and during battle of azeroth, was rediscovered and befriended by horse players, while alliance returned to kul tiras along jaina.
Mentioned 'death of our man in theramore', jaina used to lead a city, theramore, which due to her blindness and bit of passivness, was ultimately mana-bombed by garrosh, and completely erased.
Jaina - arthas, they had a relationship during warcraft3, when jaina was a young mage when plague of undead was spreading over the kingdom of lordaeron, arthas decided to stop it alongside jaina, when they arrived to stratholme, arthas, uther the lightbringer

When this trailer was released we didn't know anything about the "Warbringers" animations, or the general plot for Battle for Azeroth. This trailer paints the Alliance as the aggressors - or at least the Horde as the underdog, which is why Sylvanas' "For the Horde" and the following rallying of the downtrodden gives people chills. Instead of making this expansion's Horde vs Alliance conflict nuanced they decided to make Sylvanas a mustache twirling "put the damsel on the train tracks" villain and Horde had to go along for the ride.

so basically the city that just got destroyed (poissoned) by Blight is Lordaeron - father of Arthas was residing there, and you could see it in W3 where Medivh (the raven mage) warned their council of incoming Legion invasion, while they were busy with local politics and strange plague that just happened (which was caused by unknown cultists at that time, and it turned people in to zombies... mindless undead)
the scene when Anduin enters the throne room - is 1:1 copy of the same scene when Arthas returned with Frostmourne to murder his own father... listen the music, watch the camera work, similarities between anduin and arthas - its the nostalgic callback, a rhyme of history
    so
Kul Tiras and Zandalari Trolls are known for a veeeeery long time in WOW and W3, they show up and play a role here and there, but this expansion is really their moment to shine
they are known for their amaizing fleets, they are sea powers (as this expansion deals with islands and sea
the "Theramore moment' in this cinematic is refering to a city governed by Jaina, which got bombed by Garrosh (right after he became warchief) by mana-bomb... basically got nuked, she was able to save herself, but after city theres a hole in ground
this fat lady was an adviser to Katherine Proudmoore (Jaina mom) but she had ... lets call it 'other plans' regarding Kul Tiras.... basically she was a villian of first phase of expansion for Alliance players
the moment when Laday Ashvane (thats her name) used the power of her cartel to take over Kul Tiras and this huge fleet appeared was the moment when loooong lost fleet returned, it was cursed to sail in magic storm for ever, and they were trapped in a magical loop... Captain of this fleet is Daelin, Jainas brother
no wonder Beth loves Jaina... she one of the most important characters in WOW and warcraft3... you see her really for the first time, but her previous story is also really good... it takes a lot of turns and twists - before this expansion and Legion people thought that she will become a villian, from 'horde enthusiast' she turned in to nr.1 horde hater, she seemed to take simmilar turn to Sylvanas
    ..........
    NOW
    VERY IMPORTANT STUFF
type in youtube: "Il'gynoth the Heart of Corruption Voice"
these whipers appeared in Legion expansion
before these whispers players could find (by fishing) a box of Yogg Saron with wierd quotes
you can imagine how amaizing this was for lore-nerds... speculations went off the charts in WOW community, as this expansion deal with OLD GODS, the servants of Void - Mythraxx (this huge tentacly-monster that destroyed the seal) is one of their main servants on Azeroth (our planet), you saw an old god in warbringers series and Azhara one
some of his whispers alredy happened, some did not even untill now
Void knows all truths, know all possibilities, know all timelines... but doesnt know which one is true and will come to pass.... void deals with dreams, illusions (as you saw they alredy started with Jaina videos)
its Void that created the 'curse of flesh'... in fact WE are the by-product of their long gone reign of terror on Azeroth, by curse of flesh they tried to weaken stone and metal made construct keepers of Azeroth Titan soul that sleeps inside our planet... by doing so they were trying to rot keepers out, to kill them easier
Old Gods (Void) are inprisoned on Azeroth by Titans (Order), because one of them during their regin was ripped of from it (literally) by Titan (you saw size of Titans at the end of Legion when they pulled Sargeras) and it left deeep wound, because Old Gods are like pests, weeds, they grow like tick eating energy of planet and corrupting it, Titans had to interviene to save soul of our world from corruption
we alredy killed most of the remaining, inprisoned old gods through out the years of playing WOW... what we know is that Void Lords cant enter our plain of reality (because WE are the plain of reality) as you can see on cosmic map of WOW
Void Lords sent out in to cosmos untold, almost infinite number of 'old god' creatures (we know them as such, because they were mythical creatures to us, denizens of azeroth) at random, trying to find planets with sleeping titans inside, to corrupt them and use their power to enable Void Lords to enter plain of reality
all cosmic powers got their own plains where they reside, they are fenced off by in-between barrier from plain of reality
    ....
one of my most memorable moments in game was when i left Teldrasill and found on the beach remains of Old Gods servant (Mythraxx level) skeleton with huge titan sword in his skull... i thout to my self "DAAAANMMMMMMMM wth was this????" :O
obviously remains were guarded by 'hour of twilight' servants (this group serves void and tries to usher in their return to our planet) they were too high level to kill for me, yet i snuk in to watch this from close
ehhhh WOW is such HUGE game, its world is literally full of stories wherever you go
you can dabble in so many things, its mind boggling
you can literally find a thing in a forest, or by fishing... and it leads to huge story, to legends, to peoples, races, their history, their motivations, all races got their distinctive cultures, all of them got extensive history and enemies and heroes and cities
basically you can pick whatever you like and discover it for weeks upon weeks of playing
like zandalari trolls... whats the history of trolls on azeroth, when they appeared, how many types there are, what happened to troll empires, why etc.
this is such rich world its too much for new players, might look too complicated... but at the same time it is the best thing in this game... its huge, it offers a lot

Oh yeah. When Jaina's mother went to rescue her from the world of nightmare, it was strong. After all, Jaina reproaches herself, for which she left Arthas during the cleansing of Straholm. The necromancer infected the population of this city with a plague. Plague turns into zombies. Arthas decided to slaughter the population until they became servants of the Darkness. Jaina and Uther the Lightbringer left him. Controversial decision. On the one hand, he stopped the infection in the kingdom, on the other, the blood of his subjects

The 'dream' sequence was two of Jaina's key moments. The first one is her betrayal of Arthas (she had made a promise to never deny him) which eventually led to a downward spiral that ruined him. (it was confirmed that if she had stayed with him in that moment, she would have been the anchor that kept him from losing himself to his rage). They were in love, and she never moved on from him.
The second one is when her father landed at Theramore (the city she ruled) in Kalimdor (after the warcraft 3 campaign) and immediately started a war with the horde, occupying Theramore as a base. She stood by while the horde assaulted the city to kill him.

    • @Adanu191
      @Adanu191 2 года назад

@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames I personally found that confirmation to be a relief, because the writers clearly make Arthas out to be a tragic figure, and Jaina's betrayal has a clear and defined scar from that moment that he carries with him right to the end. He is not this infallible paladin hero: He's a man who got overwhelmed by the situation... and at one of his moment vulnerable, had no support structure to advise him.
Uthur couldn't possible do it due to his position. Jaina was literally the only person in the world in that moment who could have kept him from making that fatal mistake on judgment eventually... and she blames herself for being too weak at the time to even try.
Granted, he was who he was, but we're human, and we're social creatures. All the naysayers who say 'he made the choice' like to forget that no one is infallible, and he was a young man who after that point felt alone.
Right up to the end, there was a piece of that core Arthas within the Lich King too. He kept her locket, and her finding it causes her to breakdown in guilt over not trying to rescue him.
People like to forget he was the first victim of that blade.

This is where Warcraft Storytelling is still makes sense.
2 main things, Sylvannus still doing stuff for a huge reason. And Kultiran are worst people in wow history.
Another thing I noticed, many cinematic you guys are watching are Alliance perspective of cinematic. There are full versions of cinematic, or I recommend horde side cinematic because horde side usually see whole picture.
This is main thing in Warcraft, alliance always only see half of picture to antagonising horde.
While horde side see whole thing to play the victim part.
These stories are mostly call back to events in history.
    So to the Backstory :
1:50 - so Alliance invading Undercity because Sylvannus burnt the Teredessil.
Undercity - the former Loredron city, where Arthas killed his father and killed his people and raised them as undead. When Sylvannus broke free from Arthas, she saved many civilians which are now undead race called "forsaken" and established kingdom there as Undercity.
6:00 - Sylvannus used a dirty move using improved plague of undead on Alliance army. Plague of undead is the bioweapon used by Licking. And Jaina come to save Alliance.
(Missing Cinematic) - horde side cutscene before Confrontation.
7:25 - Confrontation between Sylvannus and Anduin. Genn, Jaina and Aleria also present there.
Bain, Lothemar and Nathanos can be seen on Sylvannus ship.
(Fun fact : this cut scene and Arthas killing his father cinematic should watch side by side to see similarities, same place, same actions)
10:15 - this part have some backstory. "Sarufang" (the old soldier) was captured by alliance during Loredron battle.
Small team of elites send to Alliance capital to save Sarufang but he refused to come.
Meanwhile we met with Princes "Talanji" the crowned princes of zandalar. And "Zul" the prophet of Zandalar. Horde rescue them and escaped with their own captured ship.
And as you see in Cinematic, alliance follow the ship and Talanji use Rezan, Loa of kings' power to escape to Zandalar.
15:10 & 13:15 - since horde escape to Zandalar, and Zandalari hold full power over seas. Alliance turned to Thier old allies, Kultiran for aid.
And there Jaina meets her Mom Catherine and her advisor "Lady Ashvane". And Ashvane decided to exile Jaina into the "Drustvar"
Drustvar is ancient abundant landmass In Kultiran, long story, but main thing, land play with your head to driven people crazy.
16:42 - meanwhile in Zandalar, a sub faction of trolls called Bloodtrolls invade Zandalar. Later we found it was "Zul" behind this attack. A betrayer within. And this battle end with death of "Rezan, the Loa of kings".
And "King Rastakhan" after lossing his god he worship make a deal with Bhonsambdi.
19:40 - Catherine with us search Jaina in Drustvar, Jaina already having illusions from past.
21:27 - this frame shows 6 people she lost and she feel guilt about. From left to right.
Ronan - her Mentor Sacrificed his life at Theromor, she feel guilty about Theromor nuke.
Kinndy (between Ronan and Varian) - her student Sacrificed her life during theormor.
Varrian - her friend, king of Alliance killed in broken shore by Guldan in previous Cinematic.
Uther ( behind Jaina) - mentor to Arthas, he's one of first to killed after Arthas kill his father.
Dailen - her father died in hands of Rexxar because she couldn't change him.
Arthas - her lover lost to dark path, became Licking.
22:22 - back in Zandalar again, Zul has awakened "Mythrax", one of servants of oldgods. And he invade Dazaralor the capital of Zandalar to destroy the seal of Ghuun. More on that later.
And Zul is not killed there. He did return one more time.
24:30 - back In Kultiran, lady Ashvane shows her true colours, attacking the capital Boralus with army of pirate. But Jaina uses the necklace as a beacon to summon Kultiran fleet back home.
    Stort of Loa -
Loa are powerful beings oftenly worship as gods or feared as demons In wow universe.
Loa are empowered or created by much more stronger beings line Titans or other forces, and Oftenly held power over life or death.
There are no definite powerlevel to loas, it depends on how they gain power.
Loas technically immortal, because when they killed they will return, reborn In emerald dream sooner or later. Thier soul is very powerful than a normal mortal.
Known loas seen In Cinematics -
Rezan (T-rex) - Loa of kings, powered by Titan Eonar.
Bhonsambdi - Loa of death, powered by death.
Cenarius - Centaur guy in Illidian's memories, he's the teacher of Illidian and he teach drudism. He's also powered by Eonar.
August Celestials - Chiji the red Crain, Niuzao the BlackOx, Xuen the White Tiger and Yulon the Jade serpent. 4 guardians of Pandaria you saw In Shauhao cinematics. All 4 are powered by Eonar.
Druids and Shadowhunters. - 2 main classes in wow universe. They are are connected to loas granting them power. In wow Classic cinematic, a girl transform to a panther. This power is from a Loa called Ashmane, basically a cat loa.
Druids usually gain power from good loas while Shadowhunters gain power from dark loas.
    Ghunn, the 5th oldgod -
million years ago, After Titan armies seal the oldgods, a race native to Azorath start to rise In power. That's Trolls. And they Oftenly fought against remaining old god armies. 5 huge troll empires and Zandalar act as main empire.
During this time a titan keeper known as MOTHER experiment on oldgod power, but she accidentally create a artificial mini oldgod named Ghuun. The 5th oldgod. He's weeker in power, so MOTHER sealed him in the facility with 2 additional keys guarding it. And those given to Zandalari to protect it.
Mythrax, a old god army general found about this 5th god and attempt to free him. He invade one of keys. This key is guarded by the Loa Sethraliss, the snake Loa. She sacrifices her life to defeat Mythrax, but he manage to destroy the seal in last sec. This event out Mythrax into deep sleep.
And In present time, Zul awakened Mythrax and Mythrax Attack the last seal breaking the releasing the Ghuun.
This lead to next Raid to kill Ghuun, and Released the MOTHER from her job.
Cause she will join us in future of BFA.

Sylvanas was grey to begin with.
She fought as leader of the elven rangers the lichking so hard that as a punishment he raised her as a Banshee took away her free will and used her to slaugther her own people that she tried to defend. While she was enslaved and killed who she was ordered to kill she saw everything without a chance to resist or influence what her body did.
When she broke free from his control, all she can think of was to get revenge on Arthas and end the lichking. Everything she did was to reach this goal. There she did more than one questionable thing but largly remained grey.
Than the Lichking was beaten and endet in Wrath of the Lichking and she decided to find peace and killed herself, only to awaken in a realm of neverending torture. She was rescued from this place and from this Moment her goal shiftet to stay undead at every cost to not go back to that realm. In more than one way she had a connection to Varian, the father of Anduin and she respected him long before he died and she became warchief.
From here on an other Leadwriter took the reigns, the story from sylvanas changed so she became a massmurderer bound to kill hope, from the calculating person that she was she has gone to an unstable person that was triggered to do stupid things everytime if somebody say hope. Most of the playerbase was not happy with this because everything she did no longer fits the person she was before. But this is far from over because you will follow her in quiet some other cutscenes.

Also she used to have blond hair, but when Garrosh dropped the bomb on Theramore she was pushed through a portal to safety in the last moment but the bombs energy touched her hair turning it white.

One interesting thing to note in Jainas BFA storyline is while she shows remorse for failing to stop others from committing atrocities (her father attacking the horde unprovoked and Arthas purging Stratholm) she shows little to no remorse for her own crimes.
In Mists of Pandaria, after Theramore's destruction Jaina finds out that a Blood Elf faction in Dalaran helped the horde with stealing an artifact from the Alliance (breaking Dalarans policy of neutrality.)
The faction was expelled from Dalaran with Jaina ordering the use of lethal force which resulted in many civilian casualties (in the quest you can see Jaina walking around killing npcs with the “Feared” animation triggered, indicating that they have surrendered).
Later, in BFA, a Surviving Blood Elf seeks vengeance on Jaina and at first she don’t seem to remember the purge stating “I have no quarrel with you”
    The full dialogue goes.
Magister Hathorel says: Indeed she did, traitor. You and Lady Proudmoore.
Jaina Proudmoore says: I have no quarrel with you.
Magister Hathorel says: Have you forgotten the purge of Dalaran, murderer? Today, the Sunreavers will be avenged.
Jaina Proudmoore says: Then your vendetta is with me, and me alone!

A little addendum to the Purge of Dalaran. After imprisoning Aethas Sunreaver in the Violet Hold, Jaina starts patrolling the streets with two water elementals. Some Sunreavers she teleports into Violet Hold, some she kills. She doesn't kill all of them out of hand.
Vereesa Windrunner on the other hand... She's very up front that you should kill every Sunreaver you come across in the quests you get from her.
She's been itching for an excuse to kill them ever since Theramore, where Rhonin died, and she was not happy when Jaina let them stay in the city and maintained Dalaran's neutrality earlier in the Pandaria campaign.
After Jaina discovers it was the Sunreavers that stole the Divine Bell from Darnassus, she says this (Jaina's Resolution):
"For too long, I have toiled to mend fences between Alliance and Horde. Time and time again, I've given the Horde the benefit of the doubt - and time and time again, they stab me in the back.
I refuse to be betrayed again! If the Horde intends to use the Kirin Tor as a weapon against the Alliance, then they have no place in Dalaran.
      Come with me, ."
While Vereesa says this (Sewer Cleaning):
"Jaina's doing a good job taking care of Sunreavers above ground, but there's still plenty rooting around in the sewers.
Go find those lying rats and exterminate them!"
      and
      (Nowhere to Hide)
"The Sunreaver's Sanctuary is still crawling with those Horde-loving Sunreavers.
Jaina will have sent the reasonable ones to the Violet Hold. The rest refuse to leave, raising their weapons against us.
Show them the cost of their defiance. They now face the judgment of the Alliance, the Silver Covenant, and the Kirin Tor!"

iirc, Sylvanas' dialogue in BFA was written quite a while before the cinematic, and had a different context to it when it was written. Chris Metzen (who I think wrote it before he left Blizzard) was surprised that it was used for BFA's trailer.
And considering Teldrassil's burning taking place before the Battle of Lordaeron (we had known that Teldrassil and Undercity / Lordaeron were going to be destroyed as part of BFA's storyline, we just didn't know in what order / who attacked who first as that was kept a secreit for a bit), and knowing what we know now in Shadowlands, her line here narratively makes no sense.

There are cinematics of this expansion that you didn't react to in this video, like the Sauerfang cinematics, form example. Have you seen them already before or will you do another part where you will react to the rest of them?

Bit of a necro post, and maybe I missed the comment that mentions this, but to contextualize just how horrible and tragic of a life Jaina has had -- she's approximately 36 years old by this expansion. She's literally been in one war or another since she was 23 years old (when Warcraft III takes place). This means she saw Arthas fall at age 23, founded Theramore at 24/25, lost her father within that year, saw Arthas die when she was 29/30, suffered the loss of Theramore (Mists of Pandaria) when she was 33 and nearly went mad, lost King Varian at age 35, and experienced the start of Battle for Azeroth while she was 35/36.

So, fun fact: Jaina has kinda aged in real-time along with the games (lots of characters do). When we first met her in Warcraft 3 she was somewhere in her early twenties. Now, she is in her mid-thirties. And she's always been around close to the main characters, and undergone so much. Seeing her take center stage this time was incredibly satisfying.

    Jaina vs Elsa
Elsa kicked up an entire ice castle like it was nothing.
The amount of energy required to do that is just off the scale due to the high thermal capacity water has.
Elsa was also able to create life from non-life to a non-living host body.
Jaina on the other hand is capable of more than just manipulating water.
    Including teleportation and force fields,
Jaina also has the experience advantage both strategically and tactically as Elsa hasn't seen that much combat.
However, in a death battle between Jaina and Elsa, there is one trait that trumps over all in this battle.
"The cold never bothered me anyway."
Elsa is practically immune to ice and chill attacks while Jaina doesn't really have these as immunities as much as resistance.
Also the sheer power difference between the 2 is so immense that it trumps over versatility and experience.
So I would say that in a 1 vs 1, Elsa wins. However, in a grander scheme of things, Jaina is more useful as a unit to the whole army group due to the versatility.

It's funny because everyone Jaina has dated has turned into a raidboss. First Arthas then Kalecgos.

The city they are fighting over at the start, Lordaeron, is the former capital of the alliance. This is where Arthas murdered his father, while Jaina was his love interest. After the lich king events the scourge have taken over and the Forsaken (which were once humans) took shelter in the very same city. Neglected by the Alliance, they joined the Horde. The moment Anduin steps in the city gates there's a moment where he looks at it like "Wow... The history of this place.".

How Anduin enters Lorderan mirrors how Arthas entered it. That connection will come back at some point.

Yeah there were a couple that got mixed up. For the most part the list we were given has been in order but we at least spotted that something was amiss when the necklace reappeared 🤗
