Presenting their own brand of stoner-doom/ 70’s style heavy occult psych, SLOTH hails from Los Angeles, CA. With humble beginnings starting from the one-man-band project of Ariel Pang (guitar, vocals) in 2017, SLOTH released a handful of EPs and demos but ultimately amassed a cult-following of fellow fuzz fanatics through the 2021 self-released analog, lo-fi, vampyric themed album, Children of the Sun.
Later that year, Ariel reconnected with some like-minded friends who joined the cult of SLOTH, thus solidifying a full band lineup ready to cast sonic pleasures to the world. After partnering up with Swamp Records, 2023 sees the release of the long awaited self-titled album SLOTH. Featuring Andrew Ahn (drums, percussion, space & time), Justin Wan (guitar, fuzz), and the anonymous High Priest of the Oak (bass guitar, resonance), the newest album, SLOTH, presents the band in its full conjuration with heavy psyched out acid fuzz darkness from the grave. Recorded inside the Magick Circle studio and mixed/mastered by Alex Pojda at Holodeck Studio in Oldenburg, Germany, the album delves into themes of the occult, horror, isolation, higher power, and hopelessness with influences from bands such as Electric Wizard, Windhand, and Wicked Lady.

The vocals are usually the deciding factor in if I dig a Doom/Sludge/Stomer rock band….very few have singers that complement the music….bands like Goatsnake,Omega Sun,The Obsessed/Spirit Caravan,Neurosis,(old) Clutch,Down & Electric Wizard are the 1’s who come to mind when thinking about bands with good lead singers….this band isn’t on that list….simply because of the vocals 🤷🏼‍♂️I’m not trying to shit on anyone 😉I’m just giving my honest opinion ….years ago I stopped saying “This sucks!!!” If I didn’t like it ,now I say “It’s not for me” I see no point in ragging on something someone created ya know?

I agree with you about Goatsnake and Spirit Caravan having great vocals. Oddly, this vocalist is what kept me listening. He doesn't have a wide range, but he has a kind of weird Gothic-ish sound that's pretty cool.
