I love how you show the books and flip through them as you talk about them. This is a lot better than people just talking but not actually showing how the art and book looks like. Please continue this in all videos and other suggestion I would give is you can have a title plate type thing displaying the name of comic book in the bottom of video when you are talking about them
I have read every single issue ever created for TMNT and absolutely have to agree with you. Is the best adaptation of the turtles ever. I'm glad they reach 100 issue mark and love what they are doing so far. I can't wait for The Last Ronin to drop. Peter and Eastman are back! 🔥🔥🔥
Omar - thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU for including Walter Simonson's Ragnarok in your list! He's my favorite artist, and I agree that his take on Thor is the BEST!
Rocketeer deluxe edition - a classic with breathtaking art! They also publish some great european stuff, such as Gibrat. I am hooked on Parker, I will check this out...
Okay. I'll admit I zoned out a bit while you were talking about Parker. I was just fixated on Cooke's art. It looked like a classic noir film. I half expected to see Humphrey Bogart at one point. Great list Omar! I wish IDW would put out an Inhumanoids comic. Stay safe everyone!
I absolutely fell in love with TMNT all over again! Was a huge fan as a kid then a few years back you did a review of the IDW line and sold me. I love the story and the art is amazing!! Really pumped up they stepped up with the hardcover releases and getting the next two editions within about 6 months 😃
I haven't read to much IDW-comics. But what i have read, i really like! TMNT, Ghostbusters (probably my favorites), Transformers and G.I. Joe Classic. Gonna try to get more Transformers and also the G.I. Joe IDW collections. And an honorable mention to their collection of TMNT Mirage comics. (ultimate collection?)
when i was 13, i bought fallen angel when it came out purely down to his xfactor issues. i dont remember anything about it only that I enjoyed it alot!
Great call on Parker - one of the finest graphic novels I own. I was as big a fan of TMNT as a child of the late 80s and early 90s could be, but I'm just not feeling TMNT after the first one and a half OHCs. It's fine (I'm not complaining about the quality of the story or art), but it just feels like my time for loving the turtles is something best left in my nostalgic memory. I'll finish up the second book to see if something clicks for me.
Loooove locke & key. I got the slipcase of the softcovers, been hoping for a hardcover/omnibus of it, so I'll be all over that when it comes out. Same for Ragnorok if they ever do an omnibus of that, Walt Simonson is a MUST.
Wonderful list. I’ve only got the original TMNT which is the only thing close. I also love the format, Omar. Having you discuss in a picture in picture, while you flick through the pages on full screen. So good to see the content. Better than the other comic sites. Cheers
Phase 2 for transformers was the BEST, I loved the 2 series that then came back together. I need to check out spider king. Ghostbusters is amazing from IDW. 1000% agree about tmnt its the best incarnation ever, I always say on my reviews how everyone should definitely check out the series...so amazing. My one regret was I didnt jump on the HC versions as well. G.i. joe all the series I love childhood memories for me. Locke and Key was one of my top 5 fav series, I loved the art. O.O I may need that omni! Awesome top 10.
PAD's Fallen Angel is in my top 10 books of all time. It needs to be released in OHC format (including the DC stuff) and I would love for it to have a more solid ending. If I remember right, it kinda left off on... not really a cliffhanger but definitely a new direction that left the story open for a lot more.
This is a really good video format for highlighting smaller publishers. Vault, Aftershock, Oni Press, Drawn & Quarterly, Black Mask, Top Shelf, Magnetic Press, and Archaia would all be good subjects for these lists.
Awesome list 👍 Ever since I got a random RUclips recommendation for your IDW tmnt review I’ve really been enjoying the series, read the first few issues online then got vol 1 hardback and loved it with vol 2 on the way, really been excited to see what else this company has to offer, I’ve mainly and will always be been a dc fan who occasionally dabbles in marvel, but I’ve been wanting to expand my tastes and discovering your channel has really helped me make some bold choices especially with your image and dark horse lists and now this one. Hope to see you do more in the future for maybe dynamite, Boom studios etc. Hope you and the family are happy and healthy, looking forward to your future content
I was wondering where The Maxx was before the honorable mentions, haha :) We fr need an omnibus or compendium. A compendium collecting the whole run would be awesome!
thanks for mentioning Ragnarok not my favorite idw but great and i dont hear it mentioned often! Simonson's my favorite thor too...love jason arron's run but uncle Walt gets too many nostalgia points to close the gap :) really splitting hairs though cause they are both great!
I've never been a big licensed comic guy, so I haven't really read much IDW. I had no idea that Walt Simonson had written more Thor. Definitely going to check it out, thanks Omar!
You're not the only one that fell in love with Canto, it's still ongoing so who knows maybe it'll make your top 10 next time. 😉 Ps. You should check out Jen & The Holograms, I know I know but hear me out it's by Kelly Thompson and Sophie Campbell.
Thanks so much, Omar! Great video and fantastic editing! Only imagine how long it took to fully edit it but it doesn’t go unnoticed! Locke & Key is by far my favorite IDW series. Also really love Ghostbusters. I’ve heard great things about Ragnarok and this video gave me the extra nudge. I’d really like to try TMNT but don’t know if I can commute to getting another 10+ hardcovers. Be safe!
Ragnarok is def one of my favorite comics, IDW or otherwise! Walt Simonson is just a master storyteller and I miss those old school writer/artists creations.
I thought I was the only one who knew about The Wizard's Tale. Lol. I got a limited edition signed by Busiek and Wenzel back in '97 when it was published by Homage Comics. Going to hunt down a copy of Fallen angel. Thanks for your videos like this and reviews. I always find new stuff I want to read.
Parker - It's Donald Westlake. Read the whole series, sadly Cooke passed away before he could adapt more. Because Butcher's Moon would have been jaw dropping.
Quick question - the G.I. Joe Cobra series from honorable mentions - is that written by Christos Gage and Costa, drawn by Fuso and featuring Chuckles? There are a few different titles with "Cobra" and I want to pick the right one.
The Martini Edition of Darwyn Cooke’s Parker is just incredible. As for IDW published series rather than the format they’re collected in, Locke & Key probably takes the top spot. Transformers: Lost Light is pretty great as well. And, The Maxx is *technically* printed by IDW, so I’ll throw that in too. Lastly, Box Office Poison has some beautiful cartooning from Alex Robinson, not even to mention the beautiful and moving story.
Thanks for the video. Out of your top ten, I’m definitely interested in Fallen Angel, Spider King, and Parker. I hadn’t heard of any of them beforehand. Love discovering new stuff through this channel. Keep up the great work.
Excellent video! And as always, my wallet will now take another hit 😅 I need to check out Transformers and Ragnarok for sure. PS. So happy to see the G.I. Joe comics getting some love! I’m currently collecting all the TPBs - got 1-16 thus far. Keep up the quality content, buddy 👊🏽😊
That was really useful for me. Parker is a book that would never have come up on my radar but now i want it badly 😀. The Wizard’s Tale, too. I’ve never been a fan of Transformers or TMNT but i have to admit this video has me questioning if i need to dive in.
Nice video, as always. I really want those TMNT books, but damn, they are expensive and they are a lot! Probably I will end up ordering the next time I have an awful day... or an awesome day, maybe :D Either get them to celebrate or to cheer myself up ;-)
Glad to see some GI Joe love. I'm a die hard Joe fan. I was doing the hardcover editions until they cancelled them. Damn shame if you ask me. I would have proudly bought the complete classic series. Even though I have nearly every issue. The comics by Hama are the way to go for classic Joe. He wrote every file card for the figures as well. I got Mr. Hama to sign my vol 1 Hardcover. My younger self would be jealous of my Joe toy collection now. Lol. When I think of the Joes as characters, I think of the comics; the cartoon hasn't aged as well. And if the Cobra series you mentioned was the one with Chuckles going undercover, it was indeed a good read. If you liked that Brubaker and Phillips' Incognito omnibus is a great undercover/spy book. Seeing the Norse stuff made me wish for an omnibus of Vertigo's Northlanders. That was some excellent reading. I'll have to check out a couple of these on the list. Been meaning to get to Locke & Key for a minute. Thanks for the video!

I see on Amazon that Parker: The Martini Edition - Last Call is available for preorder and has a release date of May 11th? Is this just a new printing or does it have different stories?
hi Omar thanks for this video may I suggest a video about the printing companies a bit different dc marvel idw image dark etc and their masterpieces along the years . in terms of sales ... and their main character and history example first omnibus ever printed by each, :) I am sure your up to the task :) keep it up I really enjoy it
Hello Near Mint, do you know if the Complete Collections for GI Joe hardcover books got discontinued? There are only 9 volumes and was wondering if Volume 10-15 was ever going to come out. Thank you.
I had no idea that these Transformers books were kept in print, it put me off trying them when I noticed that there were OOP volumes in the collection a while back. I’ll definitely check them out now at some point!
I can only hope for a reprint, lots of these books in this video are out of print except the transformers and tmnt,I already have 1-11 of transformers and Tmnt I ordered vol 1-7,will get the others next month.
Is there really nothing that I need to know before reading Transformers Phase II? I had the toys as a kid and have seen the live action movies and that’s it!
Any idea where I could purchase the TMNT color classic paperback Vol 2. Can’t find it… purchased vol 1 & 3 in hopes down the line I can purchase Vol 2.
Your lists are good as always So there are 2 volumes of Fallen Angel? How good is the action? Heard it has a crossover with Angel. Will also check out Spider King as well
My Man! Spider King was phenomenal, TMNT is unreal, Parker Martini Ed arrived today and I'm holding out for an oversized Ragnarok collected trilogy. The Maxx was darkly mesmirizing; definitely checkout the MTV show if you haven't. With the wild success of Joker my hope is that they adapt it and release that cancelled Maxx compendium.
Does IDW plan to continue with the TMNT tpb boxed set beyond the 1st five volumes? Did you have any of the HC Collected Editions bindings fall apart on you?
Wait, no Wormwood: Gentleman Corpse? Gun totting strippers, corpse reanimating alien worms, inter dimensional, civilization destroying giant jellyfish, and sociopathic robots; all drawn by Ben Templesmith, how is this not on the list?
@@NearMintCondition Yes, I think Templesmith did finish it. IDW collected it into a beautiful, oversized hardcover, a copy of which is sitting right next to my 3 volumes of Locke and Key. I think it is still available, ISBN number 9781631400414

My Favorite IDW collected editions have to be the TMNT IDW Collection
The matching binds on them are gorgeous and they come with bookmarks! Some of my favorites books to have on the shelf
I have read every single issue ever created for TMNT and absolutely have to agree with you. Is the best adaptation of the turtles ever. I'm glad they reach 100 issue mark and love what they are doing so far. I can't wait for The Last Ronin to drop. Peter and Eastman are back! 🔥🔥🔥

Much appreciated, seriously. Thank you. Love the feedback from all you wonderful people.
Martini edition - here I come. Loved the novels before the Cooke collections came out. Cooke was the perfect artist to illustrate Parker.
Such a great reprinting. Second only to the Absolute Edition of Cooke’s other most famous work, The New Frontier.
Omar - thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU for including Walter Simonson's Ragnarok in your list! He's my favorite artist, and I agree that his take on Thor is the BEST!
Tmnt is amazing. Rekindled my love for the turtles.

Oh yes! 100% I do.
Glory The complete series overview/review....when?
I believe in June we will do an Old Reader, New Reader.
Hey Omar I think you mentioned that Parker is getting a reprint. Amazon shows the release date as 4/8/20 so I’m confused as this was only a month ago.
It looks like during the Quarantine they got it out early, but it was hooded to be end of summer.
Thanks. I was able to snag a good used copy for a decent price. Didn’t want to miss out on this one.
Spider king is so good
Does IDW plan to continue with the TMNT tpb boxed set beyond the 1st five volumes? Did you have any of the HC Collected Editions bindings fall apart on you?
I have the first printing of the first volume and its holding up. That's the one with the biggest issues.
My favorite is definitely TMNT ❤
Oh yes!
What about some Artist Editions etc
If I still had them, I would.
Wait, no Wormwood: Gentleman Corpse? Gun totting strippers, corpse reanimating alien worms, inter dimensional, civilization destroying giant jellyfish, and sociopathic robots; all drawn by Ben Templesmith, how is this not on the list?
Was that ever finished? I remember loving the book reading it monthly.
@@NearMintCondition Yes, I think Templesmith did finish it. IDW collected it into a beautiful, oversized hardcover, a copy of which is sitting right next to my 3 volumes of Locke and Key. I think it is still available, ISBN number 9781631400414
