Beautiful ships! The Enterprise D & Excelsior looked incredible!
These are so cool. Shame they're making so few and making them so ridiculously expensive though.
I can understand your feelings
Yep, awesome models... That are also WAAAYYYY outside my price range.
Wow all that stuff is dope
Wow awesome video
Thank you!
@@MCECentral yes 👍
If I could afford one I'm going with the 1701-A 😮 she's a Beauty!
I saw it in person too and awesome 😮😮😮Great Video 👍😎
Would be awesome if they could acquire the Star Wars licence for prop replicas.
Yoooooo dope man wish I was there wit u man !! Maybe we go next year my bro
Awesome pieces untill you see their pricing. 10x as much as what seems reasonable.
😂 yeah it’s very expensive due to cost of licenses and size of run.
Did you say 16K??? No one watching this video has that kind of money to drop on, idk, one of these. But they look dope as hell. Thanks for sharing brother!
The Excelsior has so much wrong with it. The body is Sulu’s Excelsior but the NX decals are from Styles’s ship. Also, why does the plate George Takei signed look like a USS Excelsior from the Kelvin timeline?
The price is sadly mad. A smaller scale with lights and priced affordability is possible. Aoshima for example did the Enterprise-D with lights in a smaller scale and was priced reasonably. A pity they didn't continue producing them and making other ships.
wow take my money. wait how much? Where is Voyager?
Just imagine what you can buy with 15k to 17k,a trip, pay bills off, a new ride, property, new furniture, the list is endless.
15k for a Pre-assembled, pre-painted Polar Lights kit? Outrageous
What would you estimate such a thing should cost?
Seriously asking. I have no idea, just used to muck around with the old AMT kits back in the day.
@@jimjam51075 4K tops-see below for correction
@@jimjam51075 There’s two costs involved:
Materials:
•The Polar Lights kit is around $120.
•Certain “aftermarket” corrections to particular components could run another $400, depending on far you really want go down the rabbit hole.
•Photo-etch detailing would be another $150.
•Paint masks for the irredentist “Aztec” hull paneling is prob another $200.
•Good quality LED lighting kit and control board with all the bells and whistles is another $300.
•High Quality decals/paint masks is another $75-$125
•Good quality model base and internal metal armature is prob $350-400
-Subtotal: $1400 +/-
Then there’s the labor:
To pull off a quality build you’ll need a very experienced model builder. Just as a frame of reference on how much time can be spent on a build, the “Aztec” airbrush paint scheme on just the top of the saucer alone can take up to 5 days alone.
Factor in the rest of the model’s assembly scope, painting and detailing would be roughly 3.5k in labor.
Include shipping and shipping insurance costs.
So ok, prob 7.5k for the same level of quality that you see on the screen. So the markup by the model production company is 100%.
Ok, I may have been off by 3.5k 😂
I think whats really driving this price is all the marketing/overhead/profit by a big model shop like the one making the model. And also the type of customer they serve, who wants it IMMEDIATELY, and also has the resources to just give them a credit card number on their website inflates the number.
There’s a lot of very talented independent Professional Model Builders out there who are basically “garage shops”, but with fantastic levels of quality. Many are on RUclips, say for instance “TrekWorks”. Amazing, super high quality custom and unique model builds by someone who takes a lot of pride in their work.
People sell them online for between $1k-$2k for a fully done kit that honestly look better than these@@jimjam51075
so how many of these is Joseph gonna get haha
For that much money, I would expect not to see the shine of decal plastic on the registry numbers. They could have done that much better
They're prototypes
Isnt that refit enterprise the polar lights 1/350 scale?
15k is a bit outrageous, and truthfully seen better builds of it
Man those ships look incredible but they aren't made for regular folks for sure those are made for Oligarchs.
There are very similar ship models with fiber optics and sounds for literally fractions of these prices , , , these prototypes must be marketed by Effects Houses connected with actual Hollywood charging Hollywood PRICES ,😵😬😵😬😬
You're absolutely correct, I talked to a representative from Factory Entertainment, and they told me that these were being made by the same people that made them for the movies. She even mentioned that some have been paid in full already.
Yes they are charging general public , the Movie Studio price $$$$, they need to reevaluate maybe make stripped back versions and bring that price to a friendly level middle class workers could possibly afford , ,🤔🤔
Did he just say 16k..........wow
Yes he did!
You want to impress me, create a nice model that is cool, small enough to display in my home, and better than a toy with some modern lights and electronics. Something I can actually have. This....well there are hundreds of videos from talented model makers work on RUclips that impress me far more because they have taken commercially, affordable model kits, and made wonderful ships. These....just flashy toys for rich people, waste of time, they are not for you.
This is not even worth 600 forget 16,000. Maybe 60 dollars max
Cool but not worth it yo me
The D is the most feminine looking of all the ships and the ugliest.
Thanks for showing these ships, I love them all! And yes, you should put that flux capacitor in your Challenger!
I Love the details of the 1701-A.. I hope i can pick this one up.. And the Excelsior and E.T. ships are so tempting! Thanks for the video coverage!
It’s the refit not the A
The Aztec is different on both
I know I build the 1/350 scale polar lights which I’d built correctly, painted and lighted Is just as impressive if not more than these ships been showed at literally a fraction of the price
Hey, get me one too while you're there. Many thanks 😊
For that kind of money, the paint jobs on the Excelsior and both Enterprises needs to be screen accurate. Also, the Excelsior should not have blue glowing warp engine nacelles.
