    Great Video. There are hundreds of tutorials on Audacity but, few if any discuss the settings. GREAT JOB!

    Thank you for the video. How do I use Audacity to Normalize multiple mp3 files in one go? Appreciate your brief instructions.

    I would like to ask you a question. I have a one year old Dell windows 11 PC and have used many studio software. All of them have the same problem I have three expensive mikes and they test out fine. But when recording with a mike all of the recording software cut off the mike when trying to record audio that is higher in frequency than normal voice. It just shuts off the mike. I can not find a reason for this. When I have music or other high frequencies that have been recorded on other devices all of the studio software is excepted. For some reason ACID music studio and Audacity cut off high frequences on all of my mike inputs. I seem to be the only one with this problem.

      It does access the mike but above 10K the high tones it shuts off the mike.@@gasmith7486

    Thanks for the tips - very well explained! :) Some of the other tutorial channels recommend keeping the level at 44,100 Hz and recording voice only in mono. Maybe I'll try it both ways and see if I can hear a difference. Have a great day!

      The reason why I recommend recording in Stereo is because you can always convert it to mono if you want. The vice-versa also works, but there are a few things you might want to consider before you decide on what to do -
      1. Mono files are smaller. Some podcast hosts need files that are smaller so recording long podcasts in mono can help keep files smaller.
      2. Most remote recording softwares record each of the participants in a separate channel. When you export it and import them into your DAW, they are imported as mono files on different tracks. Hence keeping it mono makes sense.
      3. Stereo is particularly good if you use music and audio effects etc.
      4. The default recording option in most DAWs is set to stereo. Hence I recommend recording in stereo so that you don't have to fiddle with the settings and can just click start and start recording. But if you are comfortable you can always change it to mono and record.
      Mono audio tends to be slightly punchier since the audio is centered in comparison to Stereo.
      So it is entirely a choice though there is nothing better or, worse in either of these options.

    I record on a Mac - and under Audio Settings - Host - I do not have the option "MME" but only "Core" - could you explain what this means anyways? Also why do you recommend to record in Stereo instead of Mono? I love this small tutorial but would prefer more explanation on the why you do those settings.

    • @thepodcastinguniversity
      @thepodcastinguniversity  2 месяца назад +1

      If you are using a Mac, you can ignore those settings.. Those settings are basically for Windows because Windows offer a few different options for the interface between the recording device and Audacity..
      On selecting Stereo, the reason I recommend it is because of the immersive sound quality. While you might not notice a difference between an audio recording in mono and stereo, if you are using a regular headphone or, even the system's speakers to listen to the audio, the difference is noticeable if you are using a high quality headphone..
      Why let go of that quality when you have an option of using it?
      That's basically my point!
