Tasting Peter’s Honey Fig, Breba Crop. We had a few breba figs this year and some main crops, but unfortunately they were eaten by animals. I hope you had a great fig season! Thanks for watching! 💚 Misilla

The figs are looking great Misilla. Growing them in pots makes it easier to manage at times.

I am growing Italian Honey fig, Brown turkey, VDB and an unknown purple fig. They are all in containers, and I planted a few in ground as well, since fig trees love out Mediterranean climate. However, the in-ground (I hear) will take a lotnlonger to fruit. Will be interesting to compare the behaviors.

Love VDB, we have the dwarf one and our Brown turkey is still young. Your Italian honey must be similar to Peter’s Honey. I forgot to mention that it had a mild melon flavor. Most of our young fig trees are in pots. The one in the ground set fruit faster than the potted ones. I think it all depends on the microclimate and variety too. ☺️

@@LearnToGrow1 oh definitely melon flavor notes in my Italian Honey. My brown turkey was just a 6 inch cutting 18 months ago and I got about 6 main crop figs and 2 very large brebas earlier in the year. The plant has also grown quite large. You are right about the microclimates - I guess it just loves it spot!!

That's one I don't have but I do have lattarula and main crop is just starting to ripen. I've got bags around mine too as I noticed some pest damage on a few. Aside from DK, my top 5 are MBVS, WM#1, Smith, RGR and I258.

Is the Lattarula similar to Peter’s Honey in taste? This one has a mild melon flavor along with honey. The main crop were ripening, but I forgot to cover them and the squirrels and may be rats too ate them all! I’m so bummed! It happened in one night. Love DK! I’d like to grow WM1 and I258. Do all those bear good breba or early main crop?

@@LearnToGrow1 It's a honey fig but not sure how similar in taste it is. WM has a small breba crop but is very tasty. It has a more productive main crop but it is kind of a late ripening one. I just started I 258 this year so it hasn't produced yet but have tasted it at some of our tastings. I'm pretty sure it has both breba and main crop. Not sure how productive each is though.

Long time to see! I've not been able to garden due to health problems, but we do have a sad apple tree. What are the bags you used to cover the fruit called and where to you buy them? Our apples have been infested with stinkbugs since we planted it.
You and your garden look awesome!

Hello friend and thank you. I’m sorry you haven’t been feeling well. Wishing you good health. We’ve had the worst case of stink bugs and rodents this year!😬 These are organza bags that I’ve had, we got them from Michael’s craft store a few years ago. Take care and happy fall❤️🍁🍂🧡

    Good evening,
I noticed that you have dug trees in pots, I have mine a fig tree in a pot as well. What would you recommend I do to promote more fruit growth? Thanks!
