I must say David , I have watched this video many, many times and have learnt so much from it. My pond and stream are in place with newts breeding after just a week after the pond was filled. The garden filled with herbaceous plants with lots of cover for the odd frog I have seen and different insects all over. Thank you for your wonderful words and description.
Beautiful. I am a young gardener of just 20 years. I dream of the day when i can start to create a garden as beautiful as yours. Thanks for sharing, what an inspiration!
What a wonderfu short film! You have an amazing array of flora and fauna, thank you for taking us on a tour across the four seasons. You have an excellent eye for light and colour, in the garden and the lens!
Beautifully shot, and well edited video. Highly professional! Also really interesting for us as we are trying to build our wildlife garden including a pond, thanks a lot.
One of the most beautiful gardens I have ever seen. Thank you so much David. Last year I spent a lot of energy digging a 2mx1mx0.5m pond which I am filling with rain water. Your beautifully filmed and presented video has inspired me to do more of the same, to create a lawn/border/shallow pond garden & wildlife extravaganza! Thank you!
What a beautiful, beautiful garden! I thorougly enjoyed watching your video! Being so professionally done with every picture more exciting and interesting than the last one! Truely an inspiration ! Thank you for your effort of uploading this amazing video!!
Such a charming film and a delight to see someone else enjoy nature and wildlife gardening as much as I do. Thank you for sharing David. A real inspiration.
Thank you for this delightful video. I wish there were more people like you in the world with such an understanding of how to live in harmony with Mother Nature . Beautiful flowers and colours .xxxxxx
Thanyou, I'm uploading another up to date video of our garden any time soon made under very sad circumstances, but we had to do it because of the therapy and healing power of Nature and The Wonderful Great Outdoors.
I love your wildlife garden. Congratulations on a your success. I have just been watching my newly hatched tadpoles. Been looking for a video on wildlife gardening in the north of England, thanks.
Hi David, my favourite video. I have just moved and have built a wildlife pond. Within a fortnight smooth newts moved in, I've seen about 20 dancing and courting in the shallow areas. There are no frogs and toads which I crave for but I guess they will come soon. I am keen for the invertebrates to flourish , again in time. The remainder of the garden is filled with herbaceous plants and perennials and climbing shrubs but there is a large area left with ferns and natural uk plants so there is a great habitat for the amphibians to thrive in. Thank you so much for your wonderful ideas.
Hello Graham , Thanks for your king comment I've never had toads and newts in my pond even though the're present in the surrounding countryside. Good luck with your new pond. I'm on holiday at the moment in North Norfolk and today we're visiting a Wild Flower and Garden Wild Life Centre called Natural Surroundings near the town of Holt. The Garden is run by Simon & Anne Harrap They have written several books on our wild orchids, flowers and birds and if your ever visitong the area its well worth a visit. I've visited the garden several times over the last few years and I've made a couple of videos about Natural Surroundings which are on my RUclips channel. You can find more info. On the internet. Best wishes David Crossley (orchidcrossley@gmail.com)
This is so beautifully put together and narrated, with the gentle sounds of nature in the background. It was lovely to see how a life's gardening can produce such a haven for local wildlife. To see it develop and to be taken through the seasons to better understand the plantlife and the creatures that can be given a home and give such joy. There was an honesty about the work needed to maintain the garden, a real labour of love. A wealth of experience is proffered and is absolutely inspirational as well as informative. I will definitely be watching it again. Thank you for sharing.
This is a beautifully put together film and I found really helpful to know more about frog spawning and the maintenance of an established pond. My 13 yr old son and I are creating a wildlife pond and this is very helpful. Your garden is absolutely stunning and I love all the close ups you have included of the flowers. You embody the values of patience, observation, and resilience in the face of set backs - so lovely!
My family and I are planning to develop our own wildlife garden over the next few years, I’d be so happy if it was anything like yours! You can really see the hard work you’ve put into it :)
The garden is still maturing and following the trent to rewild but still loosly manage, it still give us enormous satisfaction as we grow older and spend more time in the garden.
Wow David what an inspirational video I’ve been wildlife gardening now 5 years meadow going well and building pond this year now kids are a bit older. Will remember to avoid the sticklebacks😮 can’t believe you had so many😂. Keep up the amazing work 👏🏻
Lovely film, came across by accident looking for ideas for a back garden nature diversity school project for my 8 yr old son... we sat watching transfixed!
Thank you so much for posting this footage of your garden. The garden is just beautiful I love the natural feel you have to it and those wild orchids :D This garden must have taken years to establish ? I started my garden from scratch just over 20yrs ago and it is just starting to get how I want it but it is a long way from being as wonderful as yours ! I do not have the space or the time to look after a pond like yours. This garden and your filming of it is a true credit to you I only found this footage because I just put up a video of my garden. This has given me so so many new ideas Thank you so much :D Teddy
I really LOVE LOVE Your garden and I just told my family that this is the kind of garden I would love to be surrounded by and not so much grass. In your pond, is it a natural pond or is it with a liner and pump to filter and circulate the water. I'm gathering all of my options on what kind of pond I am going to build so that I build it right to the way I want it. Looking forward to hearing from you.
I had the same problem with sticklebacks. The first year I built my pond I put 3 sticklebacks in and when it came to August time there was easily a few hundred

Hello David and thank you for sharing your garden, by the way, what happened to all the frogs, where did they go? :)
Where do they go when they leave the pond ?
They will disperse in my garden and the nearby local countryside and in about 2-3 years will return to spawn in the same pond
I’m curious, where does the inflow of water come from? The mountains near by, or simply a water pump
Thanks again
Hi guys, anyone know what music piece is this? thank you
I have put a small pond in but I want some gold fish will they eat all my wild life 😲
Yes,it’s best to not add fish
