Yeah, the visual style of Return of the Obra Dinn isn't really 'old paper' but rather specifically evoking the graphics style of the old Macintosh computers that had high resolution monochrome graphics with a lot of dithering for shading.
I have a suspicion that the Boaty McBoatwad maps have something in common, perhaps a location or setting or something... but I can't quite put my finger on it.
