Whoever came up with the avatar redesigns needs to be fired. They're obviously working against the best interests of everyone under the guise of inclusivity.
And everyone that signed off on the release. This is either multiple people looking at the abomination and saying "looks good!" or not looking at all and blindly releasing it. Either way, shame on them.

more Avatar style options (like hair, weight, facial hair maybe). new maps, map with buildings if you are in the city, sandy map on the beach, map with trees (all replacing the flat boring map we currently have)--- this my takeaway from it

Wow this update is so much worse than anyone could've ever imagined. Do you have any quality control? Do you listen to your player base at all?
Corporations obviously do listen to their users. How else would they be able to do the precise opposite of what people want every step of the way?

@@slowggles This isn't DEI. It just looks bad. No one is represented by the latest avatars. They took a gorilla as a baseline model, lengthened the legs, then added a few sliders. The textures look bad even by PlayStation 1 standards.

This update, avatar customisation is horrendous. It is the perfect textbook example of not fixing what is not broken. We have super deformed avatar that is embarrassing to look at and it discourages a player like me to even open the app just to be hit by the constant trauma
This update is hilarious. How does it make sense to sell my old avatar for money and leave weird faces and body shapes? This update has made my avatar a freak.😢

Cosmetics Update:
No Facial Hair
No Lipstick
No normal-looking glasses
7 total non-customizable face options that all look nearly identical
Extremely limited Hair options with no purchasable ones available
Overall worse character models
And roughly two new outfits
Pretty underwhelming unfortunately. Hopefully the Map/Battle update is better

For anyone who's still confused, there's gonna be a huge visual revamp to the game soon. New looks to the map, encounter screen, battle screen, and avatar shop screen. Plus, the camera system is getting updated to allow you to have up to 3 Pokemon in one picture.

I've deleted the app and I've played (and spent money) since day 1.
They based it of everyone in the Niantic office.
Not a pokemon go player, but this is very disrespectful to the pokemon go community. You guys keep pushing on the backlash cuz this update is so wrong in so many levels that the developers need to listen to their audience. The game developers are delusional if they think this update is OK, but in reality this is just killing the game and it's community.

It’s actually a big (albeit, long overdue) visual update for the game
Numbers aren't really dropping. We saw that after the first year. They've been steady as people go and come back to the game. The support and content has been pretty constant.

Please revert this update Niantic. We all want you to use the character model we’ve had for 8 years as the base model to expand upon. The proportions/anatomy of the male/female avatar we’ve had for years look much more appealing
