I enjoy them, too. Protip: When making comparisons, you're comparing A to B. When talking about a sequence of events, you reveal one event and say what came nExt. It's a good way to remember when to use "thAn" vs. "thEn." Didn't mean that in a mean way. I just think it's a cool way to remember. :)

And the reason the pipe cost so little time is because the timer pauses while you don't have control due to a transition, such as a pipe, and holding back lets you re-enter on the first frame, meaning you lose only 1 frame and your momentum if you enter a pipe and abort. The rest of the lost time was the time it takes the Thwomp to move.
So was the last level a dev skip or not ? Doesn't really look like it since it's more about wether or not you're daring not to take the door and see if there is something else. (Which is a thing Ryu does all the time on lot of levels.)
Depends on how you define a Dev Skip, because there's multiple ways to look at it: 1. There was no other (intended) way to reach the end (assuming riding the thwomp wasn't intended), so its the only way to finish the level, which would make it not a dev skip. 2. It was hidden outside the normal view, where you wouldn't find it playing normally, making it a dev skip. 3. It wasn't hidden right at the start, which could go either way on wether its a dev skip. So it's really up for debate. I personally would say it was.
