This problem is so deep though. We need better sick leave in jobs because the parent might not be able to take off work and are worried about not getting paid or losing their job and might not have anyone who can help take care of their kid, so they don’t really have a choice. I’m not saying it’s right, it’s just that this problem is deep and we need some serious reform

I agree with both of you. But when I was a kid we had actual school nurse and they always had a quiet area to rest when parents could come pick up sick kids etc. and then there is the issue with sending them sick. It’s all a huge mess.

I retired from teaching fifteen years ago because of foolish, uninformed politicians dictating ridiculous laws and regulations that were unproductive and time- wasters. I'm so glad I decided when mine was still an infant to homeschool him. I got to research curriculums and learn his learning styles and all of that with no pressure. I would hate to jump into homeschooling because I suddenly couldn't send him to school. But I also wouldn't want to send him to school with all of that going on. Timberdoodle is where I started. I don't know how old your child is but it's really a good solid curriculum for little kids. I did the preschool program and he thrived. For pre-k I chose Singapore math and the ordinary parents guide to teaching reading for mine to complement the rest of their prek skill stuff. He's 3.5 and reading on a first grade level. Neither one of us is awesome. It's just a really simple but effective phonics based system of learning to read.

Gerry, thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you for REMINDING me to keep a good sense of humor during all this. I have 5 children (one little eager *almost* KINDERGARTENER!) and I want them to get to experience the fun and excitement of school... but then I hear all of the RIDICULOUS IMPRACTICAL IMPOSSIBLE ideas about how to enter back into school and my heart gets weary. It does make me laugh, though, to think about the students I used to teach. I taught Special Education, specializing in severe behavior disorders. My students had all been kicked out of the middle school and high school. They were HIGHLY SKILLED at getting INTO mischief and OUT of work. It's going to be like a CIRCUS if schools *really* try and do some of the things I've heard. Jesus tells us His burden is light and His yoke is easy. I try to remind myself that when it feels heavy I'm probably trying to carry a load I wasn't meant to carry. 💜 This will all work out.

If you don’t want to teach in class, there are many online schools recruiting. Leave the in-class teaching to teachers that aren’t afraid to teach with a virus that 99.97% of people recover from. The decision is up to you.The odds are in your favor of recovering. How do I know? I survived it in Feb-March, and that was before treatments were available! I’m middle aged and I have a very compromised immune system. Media won’t tell you this, but kids aren’t carriers. Adults are, though if you have it, you have symptoms. No such thing as asymptomatic.I’d be more cautious of your co-workers than the kids. Just distance at meetings and wash your hands often. If you are sick, stay home. Daily temp checks as you enter the campus might not be a bad idea. Hope this helps ease your mind.

You hit it right on the nail! I wish people would realize it! Educators are under appreciated and under stress from the unknown of school in the fall, keeping children safe, families safe, educating the children properly, and keeping themselves safe. And not having the answers is killing them. How do you social distance kindergarten students, first grade students? How do you keep them and the tools you use safe and clean? Try having 25 or more children to teach and manage all of this. What good is it to send them to school for a couple days and then distance teach them the rest. Do you know what it takes to make a lesson? How about now possibly having to prepare two lessons every day for every lesson? I am sending all my love and support to all the teachers across the USA!

In reality it seems like the teachers and school staff will be spending all their time trying to keep kids apart and wearing their masks. Anyone who has had experience working with children in a group setting knows that children do not robotically follow rules. Will there really be any time for learning? I think we're just putting teachers in harm's way.

For help with coronavirus. Speak quietly out loud or in normal voice "God, please make my health perfect and completely free from harmful virus. Thank you." Repeat every 1-2 hours (8-16 times a day) as long as the pandemic lasts and until a safe vaccine or other cure is available. God is love. This helps. No cost. www.howtocallongodforhelp.com Healing can happen on different levels. We're not just physical beings. Consciousness, thought, and prayer is not well understood. We all have a name. Yet science can't identify our name by any chemical or physical markers through careful examination of the human body. "A problem exists today regarding some know how to call on God for help while others do not. This loving help is available to all of us regardless of moral character, religious views, and personal beliefs. God does not punish and helps anyone asking correctly. God is love." Follow CDC guidelines and Dr. Fauci's recommendations. Social distancing helps prevent infected droplets, splatter, and aerosol particles from entering the lungs. Reducing viral concentration will give the body better odds at handling infection. First line workers are at high risk because of continuous exposure to the virus, thus greater susceptibility to Covid19. "While fever, cough and shortness of breath have characterized the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated its list of common symptoms in late April to include a new loss of smell or taste." Look into foods high in Vitamin C (avoid harmful synthetic Vitamin C supplements), Vitamin D (sunlight or supplement), and zinc. Please share. Thank you.

Well you aren’t going to get any help keeping kids home! As I type this the president just tweeted that schools will have their funding cut if they don’t hold in person classes! I had to take my kid outta school after they complained that I WASN’T SENDING HIM IN SICK! That wasn’t a typo! They told me that I should bring his nebulizer machine for him to take his treatments in the office! With people doing the “Did they give you ( check box...Tylenol, Advil, etc.). My son was sick round robin from his asthma!
His teacher told me in a class of 29 kids, 10 were absent, 9 should have been absent but the children are all before and after school care attendees so they can’t eat if their kids stay home and she only had TEN... 10 healthy children attending class! She told me thank you for having the decency not to send him sick because he was the highest risk! His teacher hit the roof as did everyone else when they heard this including his doctor when he heard this!
And now our president stated the CDC guidelines were overly cautious! Let us pray because people are still arguing over wearing a mask! Wait til we even try to figure this out!

If they have allergies or asthma, they should NOT be in a school. My fiancé’s doctor told him he can’t work in an office of 10 with his allergies. We definitely shouldn’t be sending kids who have allergies and undeveloped lungs into schools. Nope 👎 No way

These seem more directed to the younger elementary school classrooms. A girl with cramps would likely be in middle school. Or at the very earliest, 5th grade. At that point, I believe they have the ability to explain that it's for cramps and not fever.

As a parent I will not be sending my child to school where children are all not well behaved. Children can be really instigate and cough on others just for the fun of it, kids think of it as games, they do not have an adult mindset and the leaders should know what children are capable of. Please keep what is yours safe parents!!!
