  • The submarine U711 were sunk by 44 aircraft from three offshore aircraft carriers in Operation Judgement the may 4. 1945 in Kilbotn at Harstad. The uboat base were hosting the passengership Black Watch wich sunk in the same fjord.
    The U711 are resting at the depth of 55m. The reason the U711 sunk, was a valve who made leakage into the sub. The sub were filled with water and the battery made an toxic gas. The twelve onboard manage to save themselfes, while the rest of uboatcrew fought for their lives during the bombattack on Black Watch. The grey wolfs made an huge threats for the allies during WW2.

      I don't think they want people to know the location of these wrecks. People are stealing them for metal. The metal used before ww2 is different than metal made after the atomic blasts. The older metals can be used for medical diagnostic equipment. Whole ships (grave sites) are disappearing all over the world. With illegal salvers.

      Depends on your definition of fought. Did they"fight"innocent people? My Great Uncle was a merchant marine crewman on a cargo ship which was sunk by a u-boat. The cargo ship did not pose any threat to the u-boat. He saw a lot of his friends die in the cold water.He survived partially paralyzed. Not sad to see people get exactly what they deserve.

    • @bangfilmogfoto
      @bangfilmogfoto  2 года назад +2

      Yes.I agree on that. But none died on this sub. The attack was ment to sink this one while is was docking beside Black Watch. 12 members of the sub, manage to unlease the sub, in a attempt to rescue from sinking during the attack. Sadly it sank because of a broken valve. Maybe if the did save it, a new attack would havet been done later to sink it.

You think a little kid in Hamburg or London deserves to die in a war just because of the country they were born in? You think every German soldier/sailor had a choice ? She was tied up alongside another ship at the time. Her skeleton crew cut her lose and she was a couple hundred feet away from the other ship when the first aerial bomb detonated next to her. Other bombs destroyed her and she sank killing 40 of the 52 on board. 12 survived, the rest were not onboard at the time. She was sunk by bombs from a british Avenger aircraft.

    • @HighlanderNorth1
      @HighlanderNorth1 2 года назад +5

      Wait, how could it have "killed the rest of the crew", if the "rest of the crew weren't onboard at the time"? The info on the title page^ says that 12 men managed to save themselves, but it makes no mention of any crew members dying. I didn't think these subs had crews much larger than about 50 anyway.

Sub duty and bomber duty had a high mortality rate. No one should find war glorious. My great uncle was killed in France. He was a wonderful person from what I've been told. My grandmother's great aunt was a young woman during the Civil War. She said all sides were dangerous and best to be treated as such. Civil War is particularly violent with lawless roughs common.
