When we analyze a policy, we should take export and import of the same importance. We have cheap computers because they are made in Taiwan. We have cheap shoes because they are made in Vietnam. A US worker's wage can hire two Taiwan workers, 4 vietnam workers. That's why we need to have worldwide supply chains. If everything is made in the US, the cost of the products will be very high. There are other countries except the US. The products are not only used by the US but also export to other countries. If Trump imposes high tariffs, other countries will impose high tariffs too. Most of the countries in the world are trying to have an agreement to lower the tariff and reduce the cost while Trump tries to increase the cost of the US companies. Wrong policies will make the US a country with high inflation, high price products can only been sold in the US but hardly export which destroy the US economics finally.
Trump could ban all American companies' AI chip designs being made outside of the US territory. With that, whoever wants to use them have to buy from the US 😄
No they wont. Apparently these tech companies outsource their manufacturing to Taiwan. Without that Taiwanese chip production, chips will be in low supply.
The wage in America is dubble than that of Taiwan. The production cost is too high and the workers are too lazy. It's not beneficial to build fabs in the US. If Trump raised tariff to Taiwan, TSMC will raise price to the American customers. No one can compete with TSMC in advanced chips, what suffers are still the American customers and companies.
wrong, TSMC can raise price. It's the easy solution. No one can compete with TSMC in advanced chips. Running new fabs in the US will cause big loss to TSMC and there is always high risk of buiseness security.
@@THEPRESSTV BS. Taiwan doesn't own any AI chip designs. The manufactured chips belong to American companies, Taiwan has nothing to offer to the Europeans.
@@user-ggyy34wsk575 A quick google search seems to show that TSMC, the taiwanese chip manufacturer, makes most advanced chips, including the ones used in AI processing centers. Unless you can prove otherwise that is.
He did say “America First”. So..

Happy LNY Lunar New Year!!!
Yo, people of Taiwan, what your opinion about this?

Taiwan needs to sell TSMC to an American company or make 2nm chips in the US at the very least.

They'll just up the price. It's a far better business move than selling the entire company to the US.
Taiwan will just be leaning toward European AI development and a more advanced system.
Develop a closer tie with their military development.
Europe welcomes them

@user-ggyy34wsk575 acually they do and europe is right there to join them
