  • I constructed an easy DIY control board for my lagoon nano tank! Cable management is key.
    Ok, ok, ok, I hear youuuuuuuu!! I'll clean up the rats nest of cords on the floor! lol. I was actually pretty surprised at how easy this build was. If you've got some plywood and scrap wood hanging around, you should be good to go! Your coral will thank you. After cleaning up the mess, your corals will be the star of the show!

    Velcro! loops for making wire bundles, and double-sided with adhesive to mount your power bricks up high in the stand. Easiest and cheapest cleanup :-)

      Double sided velcro is the one thing. In addition to bricks, wrap cords instead of zip. Then when new stuff or need to remove something for maintenance just undo the velcro and re fasten it on the go

    Hey Remy,
    cool controller board! I built my controller board at the wall side of my room divider. Now there is one cable entering the room divider. Therefore two things are indespencable (for me): drawer pull-out to slide the whole compartment beside the aquarium and velcro fastener for simple release of each controller, power adapter etc.

    Looks great! I’m still in the process of running/organizing all my cords to the apex control box... (I have to get some extensions for my MP40s to reach up where I have everything mounted... shoot me now.)
    My only tip is to plan where you want to store all your powerbricks for your equipment (especially if you have a bunch!) only saying this because they can generate some heat fast. I don’t have enough room inside my build, so I will most likely mount them next to the board on the wall. (I’m also not spending an arm to get the ecotech mounting brackets, so a DIY idea I must come up with...)
    Cheers again though, looks a Thousand times better!

    Remy - Just an FYI, I have the same tank and use the Aqua Shield as well. Recently I had some acros die off and couldn’t for the life of my figure out why. Tried everything.
    Today, I took out the Aqua Shield and found a burnt to crisp bulb and when I washed out the inside, there was black soot on the paper towel when drying it off. I guess the plastic degraded over the 8 months I’ve had it. Similar to the Jebao that FishofHex made a video on.
    Unfortunately I would turn my return off for feeding, but keep the UV running. I believe this cooked the bulb and led to the plastic issues. I think it’s a solid lesson in 1.) Checking your equip regularly and 2,) Never having a UV on without running water through it. Even if it’s a couple minutes. Tbh when corals were RTNing this was the last thing I would have suspected.

    • @BahamaLlamaCoral
      @BahamaLlamaCoral  3 года назад +2
