I did this same DIY technique on the backsplash in my kitchen. I LOVE the way it came out😍
My colors were a medium brown, light taupe and charcoal with a light whitewash over over all. Then 3 coats of polycrylic.
Your DIY brick wall came out GREAT! LOVE THE LIGHTS. You are right.....you can't make a mistake with this DIY. (But it does require patience)🦋

I actually have a few videos of this on my channel. I did it as a backsplash in my kitchen first then decided I wanted to take it all the way up the wall around the cabinets. Also did an accent wall in my living room! They are in my makeover playlist if anyone is interested.

I did this also in our guest bedroom. We live in a manufactured home, so I understand what you mean by the walls and the level. I used the same masking tape and it worked great! I painted the bricks BEFORE I removed the tape, to give them a base, then tweaked more color once I had removed the tape.

Such a good idea. On Amazon you can buy textured vinyl on a roll and it's peel and stick brick like wall paper and it won't damage the wall when removing.
