I love Nora Roberts books and enjoy them immensely
Thank you.
I remember enjoying Local Hero as a teen so I found this reread interesting. It hasn't aged well, and I'm not talking technology but social attitudes. But I guess that's what I found interesting.
But I had forgotten this book and found it surprising how similar it is to a book by Donna McDonald (Captured In Ink) that I really do like. Has a lot more depth. Although now I'm thinking maybe it wasn't terribly original? (Definitely better though! I wish it were available as an audiobook)
It’s too bad it sounds like it’s being red inside a bucket the echoing, so terrible good story bad recording
Some guy I don't know pays for my pizza and forces his way into my apartment . . . I'm not going to be reserved! I'm going to be calling the police!
Yes, this book definitely hasn't aged well. Part: people were a lot more trusting back then and more polite, and part: audiences for romance were a lot more gullible or had lower expectations (of credible plot lines).
But I found this interesting; can be an interesting exercise to reread books from your youth - see if they stand up to the passage of time and to see how your own attitudes and perceptions have changed
Edit: although having said that, I cannot account for the 50 Shades of Grey mania (lunacy). That continues to baffle me
One more unlikable anxiety-ridden protagonist. Same old tedious "I-can't-possibly-accept-love-because-it-might-go-wrong-someday" schtick. Spare us.
