I love your videos! Just got gifted a trolling motor for my fiberglass canoe. Was looking at some of the trolling motor power boxes on the market and wasnt impressed. Cant wait to build one similar to yours once I'm done restoring our vintage travel trailer.
Thanks so much I just ordered everything and will be doing this build myself thank you so much for making it a one stop shopping experience 😊 and now a subscriber 👍👍
In part one you showed plugging your charger straight to the box. Now that you have added the extra lights, switches, etc. can you still charge the box or do you need to disconnect from the master switch?
You should make those for 100+ amp hour batteries. In the process of wiring my XI3 motor guide and auxiliary lights and graph. I have several batteries dedicated to run each and a 30 amp hour battery for back just in case I need power to get back with the trolling motor. Me and electrical wiring are not friends. Lol
Awesome video and kit, wiring up my box now! I'm a noob when it comes to wiring but was wondering if it would be possible to charge this battery with a small solar panel or would that damage the battery? I was thinking of making an adapter going from the Atwood receiver to a standard SAE solar plug. They also make some that plug straight into a cigarette lighter port but I'm not sure how well that would work.
Is there a Ah remaining meter available and what is max amp battery could be crammed into it. Do you need breaker if only using it for long Garmin 93sv? thank you
Looking at your website now. In my case all I need to power is a trolling motor and fish finder in my kayak. What setup do I need? Or will this one work.
This will definitely work for both at the same time. In hindsight, I should of put an SAE port on for a fish finder. But you can easily add that. They are on the site
@@iceholepower8012 Just found the answer to a question I was going to ask. Thanks! I will order the SAE port. Great Rolando, thanks for asking it for me.
Not sure if this can be answered but where would the SAE port go in this in terms of wiring? I don't know anything about wiring things and was going to follow this exact same set up but add an SAE port.
You could buy a 50 Amp switch and put it after the breaker. You would want it after the breaker incase it were to short out. But, the easy way would be to just hit the button on the breaker to open the connection. No additional switch needed
Great question. No, your batteries are 17Ah. That is just telling you their capability. How long they will last. You will still want to use a 10 amp fuse for the lid because the components are rated for a max current draw of 10 amps

I really dig your methodical style of fabrication. I've seen a lot of DIY kayak videos on youtube and wouldn't trust half the guys out there to do any work for me. Another youtuber you remind me of is the TinyBoatNation channel. Anyhow, I'll be ordering a battery box kit from you sometime soon. You might be able to answer a question of mine. I'm debating between the endura c2 and the endura maxx. Probably a 40 lb thrust. Anyhow, I recently saw a "kayakUSA" DIY video with a wireless throttle control that seemed to be variable speed. Would you know if that would mimic the "digital maximizer" that minnkota claims is the reason the maxx models have more running time?
Hey man, thanks for the support!!!! Man, that is a great question! I have not seen that video but I do know TJ over at @kayakusa I will see if he has input on the matter

I like to use the 12v socket for my 12v fillet knife when I am cleaning fish in an area without power. This is a very cool project and your fab skills are commendable, but uh...where do you hook up a trolling motor? I don't see any way of doing that, short of opening the box up, which makes it kind of pointless to use a waterproof container?

Here’s a dumb question: Will that voltage meter tell you what battery % is remaining? I’ve heard these lifepo4 batteries need a special sampler or something to get an accurate reading.
@@iceholepower8012 Isn't a volt meter pretty useless on LifePO4 since the discharge is almost completely flat until very near 0%? They are not like lead acid where there is a significant discharge difference in voltage.
