Thanks for this useful info. There’s fraud everywhere nowadays. You have to be careful with all transaction you do. My phone is plagued everyday with calls from so call Amazon billing. I live in Canada and here these scammers call you day and night

Don't b surprised the locals operating Air B and B's in Jamaica STOP renting to locals. Sad truth!
Once a mother and her two sons showed up at my home. I saw them on my camera walking around the premises. I had only been living there for about a month. Long story short, someone had copied my home's info from a previous ad, listed the property "for rent", taken this family's money and they showed up to find out they had been scammed. The mother showed me the ad on her cell phone (thru the window becuz I refused to open the door). This is not just limited to Jamaica. I see the ad's all the time. They will show you a mansion for an unbelievable price, then ask for all your info and funds before they will give you an address, telling the consumer they want to ensure you are "serious". So many scams.

I agree that we do have rental agencies in the paper that my friend and I tried twice and were not successful.

People must be more alerts these days before they give out there information because they are getting warnings every day about scamming and what to look out for people need to do research before they get into business with these crooks thanks for your information sound the alarm
Also Do Not Accept cheques on Fridays Saturdays or Sundays. Monies deposited to you account should not be on hold. Funds must be available
Informative info… this kind of scamming isn’t good for Jamaica… with the financial fraud! Maybe there needs to be an agency that manages rentals RBB that give tenants a code and i’hence the agency responsible for reimbursement.
I always seh is the consumer. A them a give the money. Ask for proof of ownership.
family members had a similar experience it was in Spanish Town and the peed on some money in the house and lawyer fee and other deposit money and then when it was time to acquire the hosted told him that the person renting selling the house does not have the papers are the title so this really resonated with me as it was a personal experience and I'm glad that they're persons persons out there sensitizing people as to what these
These choppas have learned this from the overseas choppas.Its going on in North America and airbnd have crackdown hard on these choppas.These choppas rent people place and turn around renting out the place at a higher cost to pocket the difference.They call it arbitrary rental,usually there is no place

You have to be very careful buying selling any kind of properties now matter where’s you are you have to make sure you do some kind of background check on some of these people you are renting to make sure they are not scammers and have a clean record renting before and don’t over charge them especially Airbnb

You need references from the prospected tenants as to who know if them. Ie history or background check, this is done in the UK no one will get a rental without reference and this means bank reference. Without this no tenancy. References. Like CRB check.
