Just played a couple rounds of this. It's crazy how all the spawn weapons actually feel good compared to 5. You can tell whoever was working on the balance team fucking hated the lancer in 5.

Im a gears 1 stan, always have been looking for something to replace my feel and experience from gears 1. All the exact audio cues are here from gears 1 but stopping power is still a thing. I always preached that gears 2 with the introduction of stopping power was the the death of gears, and it seems my beliefs are well founded. Gears as a competitive game was always founded on gnasher play, who could out skill without broken movement as found in gears 5. Gears 1 was truest form of Gears we ever experienced, a game like no other and yet to be seen again. I only hope Gears EDay reembodies what Gears 1 demonstrated.
